COVID Saves Me Another $100 Bucks: My Spy Movie Reaction

avatar

My kids and I are suckers for movies which include big, muscular guys, and funny kids.

My Spy is one of the movies that we had been waiting for it to come out in the theatre. It started filming in October 2018 and the posters came out soon afterwards.

Since the Main Guy is from Guardians of the Galaxy, it made this movie more appealing.

Going to the movies, like I had planned would cost me:

$30 USD for four tickets at the cheap theatre

$30 USD for a large popcorn and a large soda. More if they sucker me into buying an icee too, and extra if I stop by 7 Eleven to sneak snacks in.

$40 USD because I am a sucker, and taking my kids to the movies, and buying them snacks there, still doesn't feed them dinner, and the experience is incomplete if we don't get some hamburgers before then. Or something like that. I just know that they plead with their beautiful spoiled children eyes, and I often give in..

The Popcorn and Soda refill may be included, but we still only get one container, so we stuff 4 different straws in there. Why? Because the kids still don't know that I don't care who's straw is who's and that I sometimes even drink out of all four straws at the same time. Ahhhh, the deception.

That would have cost me about $100USD

To watch a movie.

Thanks to Covid-19, and all the movie theatre closures, my kids and I were able to watch this movie for free, in our home..

I popped some corn, added a little sugered butter.

I guarantee you, it was funnier in my living room

Especially because I am sometimes grumpy at the theatre, annoyed at how much it costs to take kids to a movie.

I would not have laughed at the "funny" parts that we had already seen in the previews.

I would not have laughed at the jokes I saw coming from a mile away.

I would not have laughed at the only semi-funny parts.

I would still have enjoyed the plot twist, since it was a funny one that I didn't see coming..

All in all, the movie was A LOT more enjoyable from home..

Will I even be suckered into paying $100 USD to watch a mediocre movie again?

Since you are a movie lover, save the 100 bucks for the one you would watch later coz you may not get discount next time

The issue is that I don't really have the $100 bucks to begin with.

They are in my checking account, so yes, they are "there" but they are really better spent paying bills, buying better quality food, saving for upgrades on my home, paying off debt, etc.

It really is better to just pocket the money and not go to the movies.

That's one positive thing about covid.

Valid point! There will prob be one theatre operator left standing at the end of this.

And if there is only one theatre, I will take my kid for nostalgia purposes, but that will be a yearly trip instead of a friday night excursion.
