Free HIVE Or LEO To Crypto Influencers?

No free airdrops to influencers on other platforms

I just heard that @nathanmars whom I respect for his tireless promotional efforts had suggested the idea to drop free HIVE or LEO tokens to crypto influencers. I disagree on that particular approach. I think giving free tokens to people who are comfortable on their platforms is not a good idea. They'd just dump the tokens. People who think they're in a good place are difficult to dislodge and persuade to set up shop here.

Why not reserve funds for delegating to deplatformed authors who come to Hive and Leo?

I think what might be a better variation of the same basic idea is to only approach those influencers who have been booted out by YouTube, Twitter or any other Web 2.0 platform. Those people are not comfortable. They're pissed off and thus ready for change. Offering a HP or LP delegation to help them get started would be a good idea, in my opinion.

What do you think?

I disagree too. I mean why wouldn't they dump it? Given they have so little idea about how valuable the gift is...why wouldn't they dump it. If a new platform gives me its token for free, I will most likely dump half and keep the remaining for speculation

I have never felt that giving away "free money" to get people involved works well. The problem is that those who are attracted by the idea of free money... well, they expect free money, and aren't necessarily willing to DO anything for that deal.

IF such a thing as Nathan promotes (and don't get me wrong, I think Nathan is great!) were to work, I could see something like offering an "influencer" a 100K Hive delegation that becomes theirs as owned Hive after the condition of making 100 original post AND staying a year comes true... it's a contract, in other words, not just a lure.

This is a good idea. Someone still needs to educate them about Hive and the use of Hive. So they don't give their followers a wrong picture of Hive

The problem would be enforcement. There is no Hive Corporation and the funds would come out of a DAO which nobody owns.

Thus, it is just a toss in the air hoping that someone will do what they say.

Whereas I (sadly) agree that you're absolutely right... this brings to the surface a whole different ball of wax:

What is the purpose of the all-hallowed "Smart Contracts" if they can't, for example, be used to simply create a rule set that allows for "rules without rulers?"

Totally agree with your idea. Do it and need to give something new to draw people to the platform. From there a new foundation can spread

I personally do not think we need any paid shills but appreciate he is trying to think outside of the box.

Overall, think we need to be honest about transparent with marketing efforts if we really want to bring people in a way that has staying power.

They would totally dump the hive thereby tanking the price as well. I believe we need to market hive but then in not in support of giving off hive to them. We can do better in marketing aspect but not just this.

This is a great idea! We have a way better chance of keeping the deplatformed than the "influencers", that's for sure.

Why do they need incentive to join a place where their content is safe if they were deplatformed by the main social media sites.

I think they need just enough of an HP delegation to get started. It can't be nothing because then they won't be able to post anything or if it's too little, they will run into out of RC too fast and will have a bad first user experience.

Yes that is true and most of the applications do give some HP to help newer people get started. This is usually enough for a post and a few upvotes.

Most content creators do not seem real engaging with their audience in the comment section so it isnt likely that they are going to put hundreds of comments up a week.

Because there are many competing alternatives for Hive.

That might be true but, if it isnt already the case, in 6 months there is a chance that we will have a lot more than others. Few can even begin to operate as social media because of transaction fees.

The truth is blockchain/cryptocurrency does not have a great amount of use cases with social media. There are other options but they are not doing a lot either.

BitChute is not blockchain based at all. No transaction fees.

I think many simply haven't got the memo, yet, regarding how much it makes sense use a blockchain-based social media.

Im not sure just which way id go. One hand I'm truly new to LEO's tokenomics. I was drawn in just because of how well the tokens are doing. If I get airdropped of tipped tokens I tend to hold

Here is a question:

Why would deplatformed content creators have to be incentivized to use Hive?

Isnt the fact we are offering a solution to their problem enough if they are serious about keeping their content safe?

Just curious as to your thoughts.

It's not clear that they would choose Hive because they have many alternatives. I've seen some YouTubers (not crypto) move over to BitChute.

DTube is the only decentralized video hosting platform integrated to Hive so far. Text can be safely stored on Hive, though. Those booted out of Twitter could use Hive.

Just curious as to your thoughts.

Good questions. It was just a quick thought. BTW, don't drug dealers offer free samples (in this case paid samples :)?

Yes but they do not give them cash.

We can give HP to give them a chance to use the platform.

I remember that I shilled Steem about a year ago or more to crypto youtubers that were seeing their videos demonetized and no feedback at all.

They get angry for the moment just like little kids and when things work out well they get back to their old toys.

I do not agree too on dropping those to crypto influencers. Though I am not that well versed in the crypto world I believe they already know and aware of Hive. They might accumulate these tokens but not do any posting or anything on the platform, a small chance that they will talk about it to their followers.

Maybe this doesn't pique their interest yet? Who knows but giving them those tokens nah..

Empowering the folks that are active and striving here may be a better option.|If they will grow and be successful on this site their friends /relatives or someone that they know may be interested. Who doesn't want a story of success right?

Honestly, I think it's bad enough to reward "famous" people the rather insane amounts we saw on Steem. Those "influencers" got thousands and thousands of tokens ($) for whatever crap they published. I totally understand the reason for it, but it doesn't work like that. They shouldn't be given anything for free just based on who they are.

I understand that you reward them and welcome them when they publish their first two/three posts, in an attempt to encourage and motivate them to continue to put in effort and to stay active, but I don't agree with- or endorse the endless rewarding just based on who they are. I've never been a fan of that.
