A Breath of "Freedom" for Greek Citizens

After a year lockdown in an already economicaly devastated country, Greek citizens are finally "free" of all this madness

I can write thousands of words about how stupid our government faced this pandemic but I feel like it's the same thing in most countries around the globe so I won't bother. Instead, I'll just highlight some of the most stupid (in my opinion) COVID-19 restrictions we had to deal with the past 6 months.

  • Shops closed for over 3 months with unemployment rate at 35%
  • Send an SMS to get out of our house (SMS protects us from Covid!1!1!)
  • Police Brutality cause that's what happens when you give authority to uneducated people (Greek Police beats citizen while taking a walk)
  • Government was not hiring doctors but instead Police officers and army. People were dying in hospitals but our government decided that we need to hire more police officers to bully citizens. More than 52 million euros were spent in 6 months for police equipment and as I mentioned, people were dying in hospital corridors cause there was no available bed
  • Fine of $300 for not complying with COVID restrictions in a country with $600 minimum salary

What changes from today

  • No more SMS for getting out of the house
  • We can stay out until midnight
  • Tourism opens
  • Citizens can move across the country

No more fucking SMS to get out of our house, retail is opening again as well as museums, casino and almost every shop out there, tourism opens so this means jobs for all unemployed Greek citizens and we can finally stay out until midnight!

P.S. This might sound silly but what I need most is to go out, skate and then drink beers until midnight haha! That's exactly what I am gonna do today!

Summer is gonna be rough

Summer is gonna be lit for everyone who decided to enjoy their vacation in Greece but it's definitely not gonna be the same for us Greek citizens.

Employers are trying to take advantage of this huge 35% unemployment rate and are looking for employees who are willing to work 10 hours a day 6 days a week for like $600. Most are gonna take this deal since they are unemployed for more than 6 months and I don't blame them.

My guess is that there's gonna be a small euphoria this summer after all these months of lockdown only to be taken away from us on September-Octomber when the 2021 tourist season ends and Greek employers and citizens understand that our economy has completely collapsed.

A ton of small businesses will close cause they won't be able to pay their debts after months of hard lockdown, salaries and pensions will get "chopped" and the Greek elite along with their "shipowner" friends will keep milking this broken country.

Not playing their game

That's right

It's been a good 1 and a half year since I decided to quit my minimum salary job and start chasing my dream of making a living from doing what I love. This was by far the best choise I ever took but it was definitely a challenging and risky move.

You see, I am sharing content on Hive blockchain and other Hive dapps like LeoFinance and earn more money (in crypto) than when I was working a 9:00-5:00 job! Gotta love blockchain!

Breaking out of the Matrix they've built is hard but once you do and take a look at what's happening in this world you'll be more than glad you did.

Send an SMS to get out of our house

lol, what was the 'official' reason for that? was that meant as a contact tracing attempt, or just to make people think twice if they really need to go out? sounds ridiculous...

The second one @minus-pi. There was a fine of $300 in a country with $600 minimum salary if a police officer was having a bad day and decided that you broke the lockdown rules!

The official reason was that we must only get out of our house for the "necessary" and we had to prove it! You see, our government kept blaming us Greeks for their failure all this time.

It won't get better cause us Greeks tend to forget what happened in the past. It's only a temporary relief!

I am one of the most optimist people you're gonna meet but can't see any light at the end of the tunel for my country

Congrats on successfully unplugging from the matrix.

Yes, governments around the world ... are doing one thing they know to do the best - oppressing people and stuffing their pockets.

Shall we compete who has the stupidest and craziest measures?

Check this Slovenia's entries:

  • a bum was fine 400 € for eating on the street
  • a couple with kids was fined for giving their child a juice on the street
  • delivery worker was also fined while hiding in the side street and taking a snack; the long arm of justice found him there,
  • three high schools pupils were brought to court by police because they publicly demanded that the schools should be opened; in the end, the judge dropped the case and publicly apologized to the kids,
  • we had many demonstrations and many people were fined days later based on the video evidence - totally illegal to do that,
  • many people were fined for not wearing masks; later, the constitutional court decided that these fine are against the law yet how can you convince the state to return what you already paid?

I saved the best for last:

  • government signed the arms deal for 780 million dollars - tanks and stuff; we sorely need the tanks to combat the virus,
  • doctors and politicians are receiving huge monthly raises for working under pressure and overtime while most of them hide in their holes/offices and do nothing.

Enough of this!

Damn man, looks like European union knows how to "treat" their citizens. Same stupid things happening all over Europe and that's why I didn't wanna give detailed examples.

As you said, enough of this and I am more than happy I am into crypto. I am not trusting these guys not even a penny of my money.

(Edited)

They are crooks and thieves, all of them. They are capable of selling their own mothers for peanuts. And we are fools not to stand up and fight for our freedom. It's not hard enough yet ...
