I'm a little torn on the topic really.
I think engagement is really important and I obviously enjoy to receive comments on my posts. On the other hand, though, I feel like "Nice post!" just doesn't add anything to the topic or conversation, so I tend to ignore these and try to only comment if I have something meaningful to say myself.

But each person does not think the same. But leaving a comment attracts the attraction of other people

Sometime it still act as encouragement for Author, at least author get the feeling that "author" has been read and acknowledged.

True - guess it really depends on who's commenting on what post.
If I feel the comment is sincere I'm happy about it, but I don't like the "fishing for attention"-aspect.

Which ironically doesnt work since most people tend to ignore those comments and they end up on the spam list anyway.

I agree. A nice post or thank you for sharing is worth little.
Of course, I could make the case that those comments are not really engagement since they do not stimulate much conversation. While not every comment does, at least if one is trying to make an effort, a reply could be formulated.

But I am not specifying that only words of courtesy be said. It is the congujacion of the points that name in the post to create a comment.
Step 1: It starts with a greeting.
Step 2: a word of courtesy does not hurt.
Step 3: You can add a question, or a personal experience.
Step 4: You can inform that you will share your post on another social network.
Those 4 steps to form a single comment.
