#fiveouncefriday: My 2020 Canadian Silver Maple Leafs and GSM Buffalo Round

1P

” Blackbirds tend to like Shiny Things” ~ The Bloody Raven

On the morning of Feb 29th I get a call from Punky that he’s adding to his stack after the shocking second Drive-by-massacre of the silver price on Feb 29th. He says,“Want to split a tube of 2020s? And you can keep the tube.”

So I spared my 10 Troy oz. bars and put away the hacksaw as I will show the ‘Meat and Potatoes’ part of my Stack. While Stacking physical silver I chose the Canadian Silver Maple Leaf as my Core permanent asset to which I will maintain as my primary Family Asset to pass on to my kids at an appropriate time.

My Five Ounces
1

So as far as my Sis @silversaver888's Tubular journey, as she calls it, my goal is to acquire a Monster box of 500 Maple Leaf coins. That’s twenty tubes of 25 coins each. Since I used to enjoy the Horror genre entertainment and suiting my dark way of thinking all these years, why not. My Monster Mission.

If there is a person who hopes silver prices stay low, It’s me. Until after I reach this milestone, I won’t care afterward.

In 2014 the Royal Canadian mint added new security features in the protection against counterfeits.

Other than living in Canada, I chose Silver Maple Leafs rather than Generic silver bars and coins because I can rely on the publicly recognizable coin and it being backed by the Canadian Royal Mint in terms of quality, quantity and as a legal tender trade able financial asset.

I want silver with the least issues of as far as liquidity is concerned. As the lone parent in the midst of an economic reset I won’t have the time to shop and negotiate for the best buyer price so I would be willing sell at a predetermined % discount otherwise I may switch to the Maple Leafs option.

In an emergency liquidation scenario and that would likely be the hyper inflationary run up that would see my reserve cash funds exhausted quick. I will try liquidating off my generic silver holding first before committing to sell any of my Maple Leafs to cover interim expenses.

I do have a plan with at least three bullion dealers that quote buying prices on both Maple Leafs and Generic rounds but that may change in a crisis. They are on my speed dial in my phone and bookmarked on my computer. My 4th an Internet retailer Silvergoldbull.ca had lately offered $1 above spot for Maple Leaf silver.
Interesting.

The Generic round that is most available from my local coin and bullion retailers is this silver round from the Golden State Mint.
My other favorite round, not shown, would be the Sunshine Mint rounds with the optical security feature and the fact that they are the same silver blanks supplied to make the American silver eagles.

I am winning a few more Rock/Paper/scissor matches against my alter ego, The Bloody Raven, in deciding who gets to stack. Her plan was simply 100% Poured Pirate silver and then HODL. Mine is more practical but would she listen? Not on yea bloody life!

Now, back to the testing my Maple Leafs and Buffalo Rounds.

Back to the CCT Test

Is your style a Tubular Journey or a Monster Box Mission?”

So what is your Silver Stack exit plan?

What part of your treasure will be your Permanent legacy?

Thanks @anchormetals I tend to be a bit long winded but tidy with useful content with plenty of eye candy.
It's rather fun following a theme for a post and you can even plan your posts a bit for the future if you got the knack for it.

It's the first time in over a year I got silver for plain serious Stacking where I need it most rather than Poured, Numismatic, or fun.
Thanks for dropping in @underground 💋

"What part of your treasure will be your Permanent legacy?"
All of my treasure will be my permanent legacy because I do not intend to sell a single coin before my death. My two daughters never showed any interest about my collection, so I decided to give my whole collection to one of my grandchildren, the one that I find has any enthusiasm about numismatics. The only problem is that I don't have any grandchildren yet. So, I must live at least ten years more, to make a reasonable choice...:=)

While the Generic silver can be liquidated for any reason, a Monster Box of Maple Leafs, either or both my kids, grand kids could use it as collateral to secure a business loan and not have to sell it.
They'll end up having my Poured silver collection.
All Constitutional is for Emergency day to day commerce.
Numismatic I can leave up to them.
Each part has it's role.

It's good planning to review my plan. What is the most likely scenario.
Thanks @stokjockey
After food, water and shelter I have an important cash cushion to avoid emergency stack liquidation as the first line of defense, Hyperinflation would wipe it out. Between Generic and Constitutional silver depending on how chaotic the economic deleveraging is. The Maple Leaf comes into play if Verification becomes a significant issue other wise remain as my Legacy gift to my next generation.

That’s a very nice goal to have. While I understand the logic you and Silver Saver have about buying the most recognized coin in the country you live. You will never recoup the premiums paid on them selling to a dealer. While I understand the prices when you want to sell will be higher your profit margin will still suffer from it. Last time Silver went nuts i sold generic silver to dealers at spot price. They were only offering $1 over spot for ASE.

My locals, like VBCE publish their Buyback list and it's pretty clear that the Premiums are the way they are.
As I am buying Maple Leafs not to flip them for profit, nor I expect to even sell them in stable (with or without the nuts) scenario unless I must, and it has to be extraordinary as I strategically maintain a significant cash cushion so I can avoid liquidating prematurely from my stack.
My gold and silver Maple Leafs is supposed to be my gift of wealth to my kids and their kids.
In a 'Grid down' situation I may be willing to forego some margin regardless and sell some MLs to get what I need should verification be an issue.
Who knows what my retailers buyback price sheet may look like in an 'Economic grid down panic' situation but I can always find out with a quick phone call. At this point in time the Premiums may not matter.

Excellent plan @kerrislravenhill! I like the way you think! Thanks for sharing and have a lovely evening!🤗🤗🌺

I've run a few different likely scenarios. Keeping a liquid cash reserve like two months pay to cushion myself from any sudden expenses and avoid liquidating my stack but that cash reserve would be gone in a hurry in a Hyperinflationary day and and in theory my Generic silver should come into play, if not the Constitutional.
No one is sure how and how long an economic collapse will play out.

So nice @kerrislravenhill !!
I love the Radial lines and a micro-engraved laser Maple leaf, someone was thinking when they thought this up...
A good call with the Maples, and the buffalo is always a keeper!!🤗

Since the current ASE as we know will be ending, I'm kind of wondering if the new 2021 ASE will have new anti-counterfeiting and or authentication features?

I enjoy most of the RCM .9999 coins, something about that extra 9 ;)

That's what I refer to as Medical grade silver used in the manufacture of surgical instruments and equipment to take advantage of Silver's ant-bacterial properties. And the extra purity of the silver reduces the chance of micro metallic contaminants that may effect the delicate homeostasis and hormonal functions of the human body.
