2021 Ragnarök Metal’s Valkyrie & Silver Shield’s Fiat Nevermore

”Blackbirds tend to like shiny things.” ~ The Bloody Raven

Under the category of Gothic Styled Stacking or Viking styled Stacking, is Ragnarök Metals' 1.5 troy oz. Valkyrie round. I've already made a post on the similar 2.7 troy oz. Valkyrie Bar back in November 2020. But one thing seemed odd...

When I picture a Valkyrie, I'd imagine some Viking Goddess similar to this Monarch Viking warrior shield maiden Bar. So, according to Norse mythology, the Valkyrie are feminine figures tasked with choosing half of combat slain warriors to Fólkvangr, Freyja's afterlife, the other half go to God's hall called Valhalla.
So where does the Raven come in as far as these ladies are concerned?
Just as a creature that sometimes accompanies a Valkyrie though what role the Raven plays is not known.
So why did Ragnarök called this Valkyrie? 🤔
I don't know yet.🤷‍♀
Now with that said...

Introducing, The Valkyrie Round.

The Valkyrie Round
image.png
Valkyrie, Raven on Skull.
0.999 Fine silver, Weight = 1.5 Troy oz.
Diameter = 35.3mm, thickness = 5.0mm

Typical Modus Operandi of Ragnarök is that one ounce is not enough so for that satisfying feel of heftiness he had to make it 1.5 ounces.
The edge is left plain but given a hammered appearance as if this silver round has been crudely struck in Valhalla's forge works and appropriately toned as if it were made more than a millennium ago.
But upon closer inspection of the scuff and polish lines appear too perfect and parallel. It is that this round was not poured but machine milled.

The Valkyrie Round
image.png
Text; RAGNAROK MTLS, 1.5OZ999FS
Edge; Hammered chamfer style.
Finish; Machine finish and toned.
Mintage; Made to demand.

The back also shows the Text RAGNAROK MTLS as raised text rather than a typical incused style as impressed by a stamp. The manufacturing process is called Micromilling as performed by a Computer Numerical controlled milling machine.

Interesting contrast: The latest manufacturing equipment producing what appears to be 1500+ year old Viking money.

And it feels great in my hands. Next!...

Silver Shield's Fiat Nevermore, Mini Mintage.

2021 5 Troy oz. Fiat Nevermore
image.png
Reverse; Raven atop of a Skull holding a burning dollar.
Text; FIAT NEVERMORE
0.999 Fine silver, Weight = 5 Troy ounces
Diameter = 64mm, Thickness = 5.51mm

On January 2019, I posted the 2018 1 Troy oz. Fiat Nevermore coin but I wasn't totally happy with quality of the one ounce brilliant uncirculated version with an annoying milk spot, not until this big baby came along.

This big 5 troy ounce PROOF medallion having the much finer details than the earlier 2018 1 troy ounce version. Especially in the Raven's plumage, individual and distinct flight, secondary, and contour feathers down to the shafts and vanes.

The Obverse side is the fabulous trademark Trivium of the Silver Shield that had seen two other iterations since the this brand's founding back in 2011. Again, the fine details are much more distinct, a work of art.

2021 5 Troy oz. Fiat Nevermore
image.png
Obverse; Silver Shield Trivium (Third version)
Text; SILVER SHIELD
Text; 5 TROY OUNCES, 2021, .999 PURE AG
Edge; Reeded
Golden State Mint, Mintage 777
Finish; Proof

Personally, the Trivium is what always attracted me to this series and with the indirect reference to a Classic American author Edgar Allen Poe this was a must have in my stack.
The fact that this is a proof quality round, low mintage, and reasonably price over comparable generic rounds at the time, September 2021, made this a great deal for the collector and good value for the average Stacker.
In this case, bigger is better.

image.png

Are these worth getting?

This Fiat Nevermore sits about the middle of the Pure Stacker/Collector Continuum leaning more to the collector. For the Stacker, one can turn to the cheaper One ounce, Brilliant Uncirculated rounds as there is a price break depending on the quantity of silver rounds ordered from GSM.

The Valkyrie round sits squarely in the Collectable category but suits my poured Pirate silver collection. I can happily play with it in my hands whereas the Fiat Nevermore, will just have to stay in it's protective Air-tite capsule.

Adding another Silver piece in my Pirate stack.

Always adding Silver and Crypto to my Stack for the coming dark and stormy night!

The #fiveouncefriday tag is one of many strategic tags hatched by none other than the TAG MASTER @silverd510 to take over the social block chains one post at a time. Give in to the Master and reveal your latest Five Silver Combo.

Chris Dwayne, founder of the Silver Shield re-created this latest Trivium design a few years ago. He had a simpler design when he first founded his brand back in 2011. I don't have his Guide book, nor am I a member of the Silver Shield, so I don't have privy to all the details relating to symbolism of the Trivium.
I one word; Gorgeous.
It looks great on the 1 ounce BU coin, but awesome of the 5 ounce proof!

Since I have paid off my Mortgage I shifted from my Stacking tactic more into the Collecting realm. The Gothic Raven happens to be a sub-theme I keep an eye out for so long as the price is reasonable. I have a very reliable friend in the US helping me order, buy, organize, and even surprise gift me unique piece or more.
He pointed out this Silver Shield Fiat Nevermore design, I couldn't resist.

Can I sell goods and services on Hive?
Other than making a post and making sales manually, there is no interface for selling items directly on hive.blog. You can list goods and services on the third-party websites and accept payment in Hive Dollars or HIVE. You also have the option to advertise your items through Hive posts.

^

How can I withdraw my HIVE or HBD coins?
HIVE and HBD tokens are readily tradable to bitcoin, which can be traded for the local currency of your choice. There is a link to "Sell" your HIVE and HBD tokens in your wallet, which uses the BlockTrades interface.

^

Will I get a 1099 from Hive?
No, you are not being paid by Hive. The Hive network rewards you. It is your responsibility to determine what, if any, taxes apply to the transactions you make. Further, it is your responsibility to report and remit the correct tax to the appropriate tax authority. Hive is not responsible for determining whether taxes apply to your Hive transactions, or for collecting, reporting, withholding, or remitting any taxes arising from any Hive transactions.

Indeed, I know that there are a few Viking Styled Stackers, on IG, can consider the Valkyrie as the money of Valhalla and they like BIG coins.
I can presume that a Valkyrie silver will afford a Warrior a Bottomless Horn of Valhalla Mead drink. According to the mythology the Valkyrie personally serve the Warriors their drinks.
The design fits the Pirate Stacker too.

Interesting that the Valkyrie Round was machine milled!🤔 I am a big fan of the hammered finish, and coming in at 1.5 Oz fine Silver so nice @kerrislravenhill!😀

At first glance this round would fit in with my poured treasures yet it is made with Digital machining technology. Makes for great conversation. Poured and stamped silver has it organic feel and subtle differences.
CNC Micro-milling would in line with Laser etching of poured blanks.

Appreciate you comment @silvertop

It does sound like a good stacking conversation!😊. You got me thinking, I will need to go look through my stack, but I don’t think I have any milled Silver. Looks like something to add !😇

They do so watch you buttons! Lol. I have to watch the ravens around here. I once saw them take a dive at Molly and I was like OH NO YOU DONT. Not my Molly.

Damn birds.

I like the antique finish on some of the silver coins. I can not confirm nor deny making a recent purchase of such a thing.

You have an awesome collection Shipmaster.

Yes,these birds will tend to swoop attack anything close to their nest especially when they have chicks present, otherwise they leave everything alone other than vocalizing.
I have become more a collector of my Spirit Animal in silver than a Silver Stacker.

Thanks for the .gif & the compliment @bdmillergallery

I will have to check it out. I am familiar with a few of his works but I don't think that is one. Mostly what we had to read in high school, 35 years ago.
