Seeing An Opportunity Of A Lifetime.....

When I started back on steem in late 2017, I saw the opportunity of a lifetime where others saw money genies that granted their wishes. One thing with a lot of people i know in Nigeria is that if they see an opportunity to make money, they fail to look beyond futuristic prospects and only focus on the moment, they need free money to get gadgets, free money to pay their bills, free money to live large but they never see it as free money to become reinvested, start up something small and hope for the best for the future. This short term mentality is why a lot of people especially in Africa still fail to understand the concept of blockchain blogging, Crypto and opportunities that comes with it. They don't know how the technology can not just enrich life but establish you.

The cost of living in Nigeria is reality lower and the reason why this is hardly noticed is because the Nigerian currency is highly inflated and money is unfairly distributed, prices aren't regulated properly and the means of income of people are relatively low which makes making and spending money normal here. A person earning averagely okay in the US will comfortably come to Nigeria and live like a wealthy person at the end of the day it's cheap for foreigners to live in Nigeria but expensive for Nigerians to live in Nigeria so how do we then bridge the gap? Crypto, it's adoption, it's holding and reinvesting it when there's the opportunity to earn it for free.

Greed and short-term attitude towards crypto is why many people here cannot build, they feel it's insane to trust a volatile coin, they feel BTC or any of other altcoin is too expensive and hence they can't put their real-time money In. I know of a man who was buying into crypto in late 2016 and he was actually accumulating BTC by putting in a little of his profits. His friends laughed at him despite the fact that they were educated and understood the concept of digital currency and also crypto currency as well. They refused to buy in with him, they said they could only collect for free and sell off instantly if there was an opportunity to earn it and that was the issue. They didn't know how Crypto could be life changing.

They preferred the concept of physical cash and any other opportunities was for them to milk and save it in their bank account. This man that was buying into crypto in late 2016 had an opportunity to invest about one million of Nigerian money and in early 2018 he sold all his BTC and left Just about 10% and he had about eleven million naira to start up a fresh business and his friends felt it was unreal. The truth is that the people are limited by their thinking, crypto adoption in Africa is limited by unbelief, ignorance and not having that "businessman spark" to take calculated risks. In my own situation this wasn't so, I didn't see steem then as a milking machine I wanted a better life for myself and I needed something new and crypto and blockchain blogging provided that.

I am someone who loves to build, there's no business opportunity in Africa that promises the insane growth rate and percentage returns that crypto promises overtime and people are just ignoring it, this isn't me. I love to go the extra mile put in a little bit of risk, test my abilities and mental capacity to predict things like moon, bull or bear, recognise prospects and see opportunities where people would eventually see nothing. Crypto is the future and anyone who's ignoring the blistering opportunities plans to remain a slave to the continuous inflation of the Nigerian currency. In my opinion it virtually need to change. There's nothing that'll stop me because even the lack of opportunities in Nigeria is incomprehensible and I do not want to live it anymore.

It's nice to see that you are thinking outside the box and reasoning better than a normal Nigerian person which all they are after are short-termed profits and gain.
When a friend told me you write more about Nigeria economy, I didn't have any doubt about it and now I just confirmed it cause this is the first time I am reading your article and just like she said, you never fail to mention the poor state of our economy lol.

The truth is people like free things but it shouldn't be at the detriment of one's normal capacity to think and plan ahead and for the future.
Cryptocurrency and blogging has given us the chance to see beyond the present and plan ahead while hoping for the best even with risks involved.

Thank you for your stunning comments. everyone loves free things but then there is always a point which will need to consider the future especially when the circumstances that surrounds you are not so favorable.

We have to look at cryptocurrency and blockchain as something that can change our finances forever but it takes a lot of sacrifices if I were to be living in a much more better country probably I might not champion Crypto the way I am doing so.

This isn't to say I wouldn't but then it's a lifetime opportunity which I think a lot of Nigerians are taking for granted.

Cheers to that friend of yours, can I know her?

You are right. Perhaps if you were another country guy, you wouldn't have treasured it as much as you do now and held it in high esteem.
No, you can't know that friend 😂 I like keeping secrets.
Happy New Month by the way.
Stay safe!

Nigeria is a tough country for majority of the people living in it and this has cause a lot of people mentality to change dramatically in the negative way. Yea, people enjoy the return of free stuffs. To be honest, it is not a bad thing. But when one starts getting really obsessed with things as such, then it is not just a a bad thing anymore but something far worse.

Of recent, the naira just slope to 500 naira per dollar on the black market. To me, this got me so freaked out as I shake my head and wonder what the hell is going on. But after that second, damn.... Anyone who invested just got their money increased with such changes. They probably will expect more in naira when they withdraw their crypto. If course, the cost of thing might still balance things to be circulating the way it once was in terms of expenses.

But I am said it before, one of the main reasons why most people in Nigeria are into this kind of attitude is because of the level of ignorance that resides within us all. And to be honest, religion and beliefs contributed BIG Time to these ignorant pictures.

Ignorance plays a very big part. The world is systematically changing and we have to change our mindset as well so many things were not possible in the past but they are now currently possible and expanding our horizon when it comes to knowledge is something that will require in cryptocurrency and blockchain

A beautiful story. I think that this topic also has a lot to do with financial education. If I consider that many people in this country have little financial education and do not really see a reason to increase it, I would assume that poorer countries have even less education on this topic.

It is often a life in the moment where people are not really interested in thinking long term. You can already see that when people get into debt for nonessential consumer goods to be able to make the big one in the end.

But as indicated above, you will find these "gold diggers" everywhere. Regardless of origin, nationality and faith.

Financial education is very important it might be something we might not learn academically but they will grow into it and educate ourselves

In our time, people are more likely to have the opportunity to acquire knowledge in this regard. When I look at people from my grandparents' generation who did not necessarily grow up in a metropolis, I don't see much solid foundations there, even though some of these people are 4 times my age. But as it is with everything, you will have people who question things and acquire this knowledge because they want it and people who just don't care or who may not know any better.
