How The Mindset Of People Towards "Internet Money" Has Prevented The Adoption Of Blockchain Technology In Some African Countries

Introduction

An average Nigerian understands how difficult it is to make money but then what I find absurd is that he sometimes inclucate the notion that making money online is easy. The truth is that Money equals value and if you're not offering value either tangible or intangible then you can't have money either through real-time businesses or online. The internet made things smarter and accessible, it isn't a shortcut where you can harvest money on trees just by signing up on a blockchain, a website or downloading an application.

In reality, many Nigerians runs away from making money through real-time businesses, they feel it's difficult to be an entrepreneur, they feel waiting for the right time and building progressively is always a waste of time but if they're online they'll easily make money without stress and that's why Africans in general might find it impossible to understand the concept of crypto and blockchain blogging.

In reality crypto and blockchain is a technology that needs people to study them, take time to learn them, understand they roll it'll play in changing their financial status and even have a plan. But then an average Nigerian doesn't want to "learn" they want to be taught how to do everything, they feel that knowledge is subjective, they compare their real-time knowledge accumulation process to that of blockchain and crypto.

Hence they feel knowledge is fixed and they only need that knowledge which they will only make money from and the rest isn't necessary for them. This mindset is where the limitations come in, their idea of building is like putting in a little work and collecting the dividends at the end of the month. Simply put internet money to them is like "free gift" and they only need to be available to collect it.

Real-Time Vs The Internet

The evolution of digitisation has taken a different turn and this means that nowadays you need to have money to make money, or you need to put in a huge amount of time, learn, put in valuable skills, be it music, freelancing, art or any other intangible skills. Blockchain blogging is that opportunity to showcase what you already have in a busy world where people aren't given the opportunities to market their skills.

People can become professional artists, connect on a decentralised platform where they can sell their art instead of opening up a physical exhibition Which might cost millions to establish. The internet didn't make the concept of making money easier it only made the means of making money more accessible and this doesn't mean mean there's a shortcut to it.

In a country like Nigeria people have college degrees, like MSc's, BSC's and PHD's but it's difficult for them to create a concept that would generate money for them. They're stuck in a particular idea and find it difficult to access the various learning opportunities that the internet has to offer, they cannot spend some minutes on YouTube to watch a video that allows them to be self taught rather they'll spend that internet time on a Facebook video.

They'll keep looking for people with endless knowledge to show them how the internet magically creates money from thin air. The reason why they find it difficult to learn is that they don't think it's worth it to put their time in a learning process. "Time" is something they find very difficult to create yet they feel it's possible to make money without taking time to learn how to "make" that money.

Time and Money

The limitations are created, just like Covid-19 was self engineered. In the world currently you need to "have" in other to "collect", and before you can "have" you need to have taken the time to learn, understand and come up with your own individual concept. The reason why people remain poor is because they feel they can't "create", they feel it's the job of others to create for them, they don't want the stress of "creating", their mindset is already that of a "taker", they want to be spoon fed and given "stipends" instead of being their own man, they find it too stressful to start from the scratch or the beginning because their mind is limited. I know so many people like this and they keep wallowing in ignorance rather than take the chance to be self taught, to be learned and to build.

Conclusion

The internet has created diverse means and the most sophisticated of them all is blockchain technology, blockchain media backed by digital currencies, where you can blog, invest, curate, play games and put your time into good use. This are the basic information they'll need but then they still you'll find out that people aren't inclined to learn and this is where they begin to fail.

I'll keep saying it, time or money or time and money is why you need, the means is already there, being economically inclined is what you take years to become that is why you see people run away during a bear market and come back during the bull market, what about that time where they should have built.

People has made everything about making the instant money, cashing out and coming back again when the grass is greener. In this business, if you don't build then you'll watch others grow while you're left behind, being on a blockchain is like the journey towards entrepreneurship most of your efforts and smart choices will only pay dividends in the future, but then the concept of building towards the future seems to far and too impossible to them.

Upvoted because I learned a new word: inculcate. :D

It's easy to forget that the culture in America (or where ever one is from) is a lot different than other places in the world. Certainly there are people around me that want instant gratification and tend to give up when situations become difficult, but I feel like there's a little extra conveyed here that's hard to capture or even interpret.

(Edited)

but I feel like there's a little extra conveyed here that's hard to capture or even interpret.

Hell you're right, in all honesty if i am to weigh my knowledge level here ill say im still at 40% that is to say that even after three years here im still learning and its diffrent, its strange, sometimes it's your opinion against others, sometimes you're left with making choices that might be really risky, sometimes understanding some phenomenon about the blockchain can be difficult but then because of the country I come from, I decided I want to be dogged through it all. It take years as everyday new things are happening and if you step away for two weeks you'll be left behind.

Thanks again for the reblog and the upvote and as for the new word hahah im glad you learnt that.

internet money to them is like "free gift"

Don't they use internet to transfer funds online ? Probably making them understand from that perspective will help better ?

They understand, when I mention internet money, I meant like means to make money off the internet. They use to feel it's free and they just need to go wherever there is the money and take it.

This is as a result of the type of learning mindset that Africans do have about money especially here in Nigeria which at a young age you're being told to get a certificate and get a job to attain financial success.

That's the pattern we have been following for years. Get a degree and work for the government

This is the average Nigeria mindset about School and learning which keeps them in the rat race of working for money all their years, from one paycheck to another.

Only few believes that money can work for them and put in time and money to achieve their goals to being financially independent.

I hope we start focusing on things that brings growth and add to our knowledge.

Reading post on leofinance for not up to a month now has really changed my mentality about how money works

I'm still learning and will keep learning just like I learned more about the African mindset on crypto from your post

Wish to see more of your knowledgeable posts next year

Happy new year in advance

For the truth is that not only Nigerians are like this, facilism is a plague that affects many nations even the most prosperous and rich ones, since many believe in the concept of easy or effortless money and believe that on the internet it is like this. One can even fall into this mentality oneself.

Well even in prosperous and wealthy nations I do not know if we have concepts like this but then I have studied the nature of some African people and their relativity towards internet and money and that was formed the basis of me writing this. Thanks a whole lot for your comments
