Creating "Money" Impression: The Internet Way?

avatar

Some days ago I was talking about OCTAFX in this post and how they've managed to build themselves a fortune from the gullibility of their huge customer base by selling fake promises and monetary expectations.
How have they managed they do this?

They advertise through some of the basic social applications that are inevitable in the lives of people. Take a look at apps like truecaller, mobile bank apps, and even phone companies.

They make the reach of their advertising coverage quite inevitable to the common man, while they might not have a product to sell, the packaging of their advertising and unlimited fund in their pockets makes them even more money over time.

100% Marketing 0% Content

People can build credibility, originality, and attention through the internet, without necessarily having anything legible to sell. Back in the day, people were crazy about writing top SEO content for a monthly 100$ from Google AdSense.

Today, it's all about writing good click baits, spending money to buy views, google ranking, and buying good reviews on apps, while having largely nothing to offer.

This is to say that people spend more to create the impression because impression builds reputation. What we have these days is packaging, because sometimes, what attracts us creates an initial impression.

The Attention On Packaging

Sometimes people spend money based on the initial impression created by the packaging of a commodity and this is why we never bother to check the actuality of content, after we've read positive reviews, they got stunning images to show, great catchphrases, and a stunning aesthetics that you can never refuse.

This is the same with building an internet following, if you look at a person like Justin Sun, he's got over 2M followers on Twitter, mere looking at this figure, you'll think he's built this base by offering absolute quality and credibility.

The fact that he enacted a protocol to take over a fully functional decentralized blockchain, didn't make him lose this figure. He's built this reputation, God knows how, but it's not as a result of natural growth or having genuinty to offer.

Buying The Impression

Many people were taken away by the promise of a bigger and better blockchain when he came to steem with his mega millions, this is because he was rich and people felt that he was going to translate this wealth into building a great blockchain, but the truth was that the man was clueless, having no content or anything tangible to build.

The truth is, concocting fake figures and spending big is how some "content-less" company or organization makes more money.

We live in an age where impression is the first thing people try to buy and this is why people get scammed by the idea that a great reputation automatically translates to quality and value

The Push To Go Far

Take a look at the crypto marketcap, mere being in the top 20 is advertising alone. This is because there are people who just look at marketcap to invest. After all, the impression created by this cap is of longevity, certainty, and trustworthiness.

This is why money vested to build an inorganic reputation is what most ventures try to do, this is what Justin Sun has done with Tron. It's rather unfair because it can be tough for people to swim through a boat load of research to find the projects that are worthwhile without that huge money for advertising.

The internet about what and who creates the biggest impression that's why some ventures are constantly cashing out from the gullibility of others. At some point, the Hive blockchain would need all that money to create such impression.

Octafx are doing really great at their advertisement and it is so tempting to give a try but truth is they make it look too easy because of how much they want to get our attention. At the end of the tunnel people would then realize what’s supping.

The truth is, before you even realized what has happened, you've already lost money. I guess everyday their advert is catching some gullible people and they're making their money.

And the thing in this part of the world is that we do not hold people, business,es or any other entity to their words. Everybody turns to a Supreme being to take up their case every time.

Well, it's because we mostly don't pay attention to what matters.

Exactly, that looks too easy is the same issue I have when I watch the advert. Well, it is not the fault of the ad actors, that is what they are paid to do anyway.

They don't even allow you do you research because they're out there seeking for ways to mortgage you. It's diabolical marketing.

In this side of the world, we're attracted to packaging and advertising, so most companies or business would rather choose to spend on advertising than bettering their products

Yeah you are right. It's when they have good product, then they can advertise at the later on.

There is a ton of people who do a lot of marketing and it reminds me of the game trailers versus what we get. It's not that hard to focus on a specific animation to appeal to the users and it's the reason why I don't really get enthusiastic about the animations. I prefer to see the actual gameplay as that can't really be faked that much.

Marketing is powerful and it is good for every business because if we don't get our strategy right can be bad for business but advertising what you can't give is bad and this is main reason why some people don't like to fall for advertisement

I originally won't fall for it because I've been decieved in the past. I think the aim to sell irrespective of quality or not makes most services advertise what they cannot offer. It's always the aim to make money. OCTAFX for example.

The truth in this post though 🔥. Impression is what is selling now, content or not.

I remember when I newly opened an IG account for my perfume business, someone reached out to me and told me to buy followers, that it’ll give the impression that I’m in demand and I’ve built a successful online business in a short time.
It didn’t sit well with me and I was even more surprised people now buy followers… apparently, it’s a thing.
