Lemon is sweet - El limón es dulce
Almost 4 months ago, I published a recently created Argentine Fintech that had developed an application called Lemon Cash that combines a card (now supported by Visa) with an application that allows you to load balance in various cryptocurrencies which bitcoin and Ethereum stand out. and convert to pesos or vice versa. When the enthusiastic developers began to work on their idea, the pandemic had already started and they could not convince anyone to invest in the project, they were not the best times or the best country to risk capital. According to their owners, the name Lemon was given precisely because that lack of confidence left them with a sour and bitter taste.
But the application demonstrated superior usability and less than a year later is a local success as evidenced by its 60,000 customers and users. The project has been so successful that they have just obtained financing for more than 16 million dollars.
Thanks to the services of an important investment fund in England called Kingsway Capital, they got a significant contribution from the technology guru Tim Drapper and also from Andrés Bilbao, founder of the Rappi delivery chain. There were other contributions, mainly from global investors, including Brazilian Valor Capital, Coinbase Ventures, and local bank Supervielle. The amount reached is the most important investment in Fintech in my country to date.
With this injection of capital, the directors of the company hope to expand and improve the offer of services and reach all of America.
The lemon that was bitter in the beginning became the sweetest fruit these young entrepreneurs could ever imagine.

Hace casi 4 meses realicé una publicación sobre una Fintech argentina de reciente creación que había desarrollado una aplicación llamada Lemon Cash que combina una tarjeta (ahora apoyada por Visa) con una aplicación que permite cargar saldo en varias criptomonedas entre las que se destacan bitcoin y Ethereum y convertir a pesos o viceversa. Cuando los entusiastas desarrolladores comenzaron a trabajar en su idea, la pandemia ya había comenzado y no pudieron convencer a nadie de invertir en el proyecto, no eran los mejores tiempos ni el mejor país para arriesgar capital. Según dicen sus propietarios, el nombre Lemon se lo pusieron justamente porque esa falta de confianza les dejó un sabor ácido y amargo.
Pero la aplicación demostró una usabilidad superior y menos de un año después es un éxito local como lo demuestran sus 60 mil clientes y usuarios. Tan exitoso ha sido el proyecto que acaban de conseguir financiación por más de 16 millones de dólares.
Gracias a los servicios de un importante fondo de inversión de Inglaterra llamado Kingsway Capital, consiguieron un significativo aporte del gurú de la tecnología Tim Drapper y también de Andrés Bilbao, fundador de la cadena de delivery Rappi. Hubo otros aportes, principalmente de inversores globales entre los que se encuentra la brasileña Valor Capital, Coinbase Ventures y el banco local Supervielle. La suma alcanzada es la más importante inversión en una Fintech de mi país hasta el presente.
Con esa inyección de capital los directivos de la empresa esperan ampliar y mejorar la oferta de servicios y llegar a toda América.
El limón que fue amargo en los comienzos se volvió la fruta más dulce que jamás pudieron imaginar estos jóvenes emprendedores.
