Different products for different customers / Distintos productos para distintos clientes

One of the most frequent mistakes for people that are starting out in the business world is that they try to create a product that will sell to many people, or to the whole public, and the reality is that many times, many products are needed because each person has different needs and may be looking for products that are capable of meeting these needs.

This makes it necessary to cover as many needs as possible in order to capture as many consumers as possible, and not try to satisfy everyone with one product as this usually does not work.

Let's look at the example of a well-known car company, which is Volkswagen and has several car companies in its possession, and it may be something easy to imagine when we see what they do specifically, but when we start to see what these companies are, we can see that there is a clear distinction in terms of the products they sell.

For example, Bugatti is an extremely luxurious car company with a selection criteria for its customers, so it is very difficult to own a car of this brand, compared to a Volkswagen car that is usually easier to get and much cheaper.

As we can see, this company has products that are very different from each other, and that can satisfy different needs in their customers, since Volkswagen can try to attract customers that require a means of transportation that is cheap and functional, while Bugatti looks for customers that are known to be car collectors and with an impeccable reputation that can support the brand, and in this way they try to satisfy the need for social recognition that owners of a Bugatti or even a Lamborghini have.

Perhaps it is better to try to cover a specific segment of the population that we know well with a product, while if we want to enter with another segment of the population we could create a product according to what they want, and it does not necessarily mean that they have to be completely different products, but they can be from the same industry, but with different aggregates and different costs that adjust to what each client requires.

Uno de los errores más frecuentes para las personas que están comenzando en el mundo de las empresas, es que intenta crear un producto que se venda a muchas personas, o a todo el público en general, y la realidad es que muchas veces, se necesitan muchos productos ya que cada persona tiene necesidades distintas y puede estar buscando productos que sean capaces de satisfacer estas necesidades.

Esto hace que sea necesario abarcar la mayor parte de necesidades posibles para poder captar a la mayor parte de los consumidores posibles, y no intentar satisfacer a todos con un solo producto ya que usualmente esto no funciona.

Veamos el ejemplo de una empresa de carros muy conocida, que es Volkswagen y que tiene varias empresas de carros en su poder, y que puede ser algo fácil de imaginar cuando vemos a lo que se dedican específicamente, pero cuando comenzamos a ver cuáles son estas empresas, podemos ver que existe una clara distinción en cuanto a los productos que venden.

Por ejemplo, Bugatti que es una empresa de carros extremadamente lujosos y con un criterio de selección para sus clientes, por lo que es muy difícil ser el dueño de un carro de esta marca, en comparación con un carro de Volkswagen que suele ser más fácil de conseguir y mucho más económico.

Como podemos ver, esta empresa tiene productos que son muy diferentes entre sí, y que pueden satisfacer distintas necesidades en sus clientes, ya que Volkswagen puede intentar captar a clientes que requieren de un medio de transporte que sea barato y funcional, mientras que Bugatti busca a los clientes que sean conocidos por ser coleccionistas de carros y con una fama impecable que pueda apoyar a la marca, y de esta forma intentan satisfacer la necesidad de reconocimiento social que tienen los dueños de un bugatti o hasta de Lamborghini.

Tal vez sea mejor intentar abarcar a un segmento de la población especifico y que conozcamos bien con un producto, mientras que si queremos ingresar con otro segmento de la población podríamos crear un producto acorde a lo que estos quieran, y no necesariamente se refiere a que tienen que ser productos completamente distintos, sino que pueden ser de la misma industria, pero con agregados distintos y costos distintos que se ajusten a lo que cada cliente requiera.
