The Good FOMO And My Punk

avatar

I can already see some of the users faces while reading my title. The question comes immediately: Is there good FOMO? It's a good question as FOMO is never good but in this case I can't say it's a bad thing.

Last night I was watching HiveFest, Marky's presentation and he mentioned punks are at 5 HIVE discount during HiveFest. This is an one time occasion you don't want to miss. Why? Because there's not only the discount you get, but also the limited edition of PUNKS.

There are only 10k punks available and people are minting like crazy. I went to check the @ punksonhive wallet and knew I have to make a move.

At the time of writing, there are 6479 punks left and if we are going to continue like this, the number of punks available at the end of the weekend will be close to zero.

Right now there are just a few available on the market as only 35% or so is minted, but once the minting is over, we're going to see some nice offers on the market. That is when things are going to get interesting.

This is a new area for us as we're at the beginning of our NFT journey. Till now we've only had game cards as NFT's as far as I know but that is about to change. There's room for more and I see no reason why we can't develop in this area.

Last night I minted my first punk and had to wait till this morning to get it as there's a delay, which is understandable, high demand can create delays. This morning when I logged in I hads zero punks in my gallery. I wasn't impressed as it's been 12 hours already, but after logging out and logging in again I finally got my punk.

Doesn't really look like me but the punk app doesn't know how I look either, so it's ok :). Ok, jokes aside, this is like the lottery, you throw your coins in and what comes out is yours. It's a fun and addictive game as you're always hoping to get something valuable, the most valuable if possible, that makes you buy more.

Looking at these numbers, it doesn't look like I've won the lottery, right? Not that that has been my intention. My veterinarian lady has a Santa hat but another 26 punk also has a Santa hat. There's a rarity score attributed to each punk, which is just a number at this point and I suppose it will be important in the future, or not. That remains to be seen. The value of these punks will be what users will be willing to pay for them in the future.

However, who knows, maybe someone with a serious Santa addiction will want to have the whole collection and then mine will have a good price :)

I'm planning to buy another one tonight and that's it for me, partly because I don't have funds to invest in this right now and minting is going to end fast. So don't wait for too long if you want your own punk gallery. This is a good FOMO, as long as you know the limits. Don't invest your life savings in it though.

P.S. I'm going to share my post on Twitter. Let's let the world know we have these awesome punks available on Hive!

Lol, yes, we are not officially punk buddies as well :)

I consider myself lucky to get the Santa hat punk, even though according to it's ranking it's not so rare. I've got another one last night :)
