Hello Everyone,

Welcome to Saturday Savers Club with Susie-Saver!

When will @susie-saver hit 1,000HP?

Currently, an average of 26.45 Hive savings, 4.97 Hive earnings and .34 Hive passive income is added each week. The account is sitting at 971.65HP. When will it reach 1,000HP?
Here's the bets so far - add yours in the comments for a chance to win extra prizes!

October Side-Gig Month - LBI Giveaway!

Yes, it's here - we love saving money and we like making money even more! Every Saturday for 5 Saturdays, we're going to look at opportunities to earn a little on the side that don't require qualifications or a huge outlay in capital. Last week we looked at ways you can sell time, with some extra information from @justclickindiva in the comments plus @missaj is going strong with Weekend Kitchen! Check your wallets for an extra LBI!

This week we are going to look at selling your time and your skills and expertise through teaching or tutoring other people what you love. There are so many ways you can do this:

  • face to face - in the UK you can become an adult tutor in a variety of ways - through your local council, through the WEA or through groups and community associations. Hobby and leisure interest groups are often looking for tutors run workshops, for example, groups affiliated to the Embroiderers Guild in the UK. Sometimes, councils will invite proposals for new classes.
  • online through youtube, skillshare, udemy and, of course, Hive!
  • or one to one tutoring and coaching.

For an opportunity to win LBI in this week's giveaway, tell us in the comments any other ideas you have about tutoring - or any important considerations like local regulations. We'd also like to hear your experiences if you've done any of these.

EDSM Monthly Sales

Sorry - there has been a delay in this! More news soon!

Okay, everyone who commented last week went into the WheelofNames and we have two winners: @jfang003 and @ericburgoyne - check your wallets winners - yay!

- Congratulations!

Thank you for taking part in Saturday Savers Club, everyone!

What's been happening in your world this week? anything exciting or fun? Tell us in the comments - you could win some EDS tokens 😁.

More about EDS tokens

EDS tokens are a low-risk income token, ideal for people who want to save. There were only 20,000 originally and they were all sold at 1 Hive each, with guaranteed earnings of 12% each year. You can now acquire EDS tokens through the EDS Miner token.

Earnings come from powering up and leasing out the Hive that came from selling the tokens, plus earnings from posts and comments each week. EDS pays out every Monday evening. Last week the pay out was equivalent to 23%.

557 EDS Miner tokens left!

Back to business ...

We're going to be here every Saturday through the year growing a little savings honey pot, if you have plans for saving or getting to a different place this time next year - maybe $5 Hive by the end of the year 🤑?

Whatever it is, stick with Susie Saver through the year and we'll get there. Along the way, we'll share lots of tips and tricks for saving and how to get the knack of making your money work for you and not the other way round.

Let's Get Started

saturday_savers_club.jpg

Image by Andy M. from Pixabay Hey Chicken, nearly time for pot pie! 😁

We're using the 365 Penny A Day Challenge framework for the Saturday Savers Club. We're aiming to save £667 worth of pennies by the end of the year.

Penny a Day Tracker Sheet

Right click on the image, save it to your computer and then print it out.

Okay, let's check in ...

1. Check Progress

Each week, we're going to check in through this post and see where we are up to. Our target for today, 23 October, was 20.51p. Next week, we'll be saving 22.00p and by Saturday we'll have saved 460.31p (that's 46,031p just compounding a penny a day)! 😁.

Each week, I'll be buying Hive for @susie-saver's account with the pennies we've saved.

Here's this week's results - 20.51p buys 27.82 Hive.
970 Hive powered up in 43 weeks and the remainder invested in EDS and EDSM! Plus we're earning 3.22% inflation on powered up Hive, 20% on EDSM, 23% on EDS tokens and a little on curating and posting!

How much did you save this week? Did you meet your target? Or did you save even more?

Being accountable to another person or a group is a great way to motivate yourself to save (or anything you want to achieve). Of course, you need the right kind of people around you - ones that think what you're trying to do is worth doing ... or at least fun 😁.

Sign up here with us to start your savings journey:

  • just leave a comment below if you want to join the challenge.
  • follow @eddie-earner so you never miss a post (Eddie has lots of ideas about how to make money - he's the earner, I'm the saver - you'll like his posts).
  • share this post if you think your followers might be interested.

2. The Golden Pig Tip

Every week, we're going to share a Golden Pig Tip for saving. By the time you've tried them all you'll have £670 saved.

This Week's Golden Pig Tip

We're running the LBI Giveaway for October Side-Gig month which will have Golden Pig tips every week - check that section above. Here we will continue to promote building the EDS income token fund. Here's how you can help:

  • Vote for @eddie-earner posts - all Hive, HBD and H-E token rewards on posts are powered up to grow the EDS fund and increase the Hive income that is given out every week - it's the magic of compounding combined with a virtuous circle combined with time! Never miss a post by setting up an autovote with Hive.Vote.
  • Carry a little notice about Saturday Savers Club and EDS in your signature at the bottom of every post (See below for sample text and check the bottom of @shanibeer's posts for an example).
  • Write your own post now and then about the Saturday Savers Club and EDS and why you are involved or talk about it in your monthly Hive Power Up Day post.

SAMPLE NOTICE TEXT
< sup > I save with the Saturday Savers Club on the @eddie-earner account. Enjoy savings tips and the chance to win EDS income tokens. EDS tokens provide guaranteed 12% Hive income every Monday (income currently 23%). EDS tokens and EDS Miners are available through Hive-Engine. < /sup >

And today is always a good day to start saving - you can start on Day 1 or make up the first forty-two weeks (or join the Autumn Challenge) to catch up with @susie-saver.

That's it for this week. Hope you've enjoyed it and look forward to seeing you next Saturday with progress so far and our next Golden Pig tip.

My sit on my ass side gig for the month of October has gone pretty much into the toilet. I was going to try and do the splinterlands daily quest and maybe get a card or two to sell, but I gave splinterlands up a couple years ago because I found it to be an annoying game for myself, still I did make an effort, and I have gone and claimed all my daily SPS and the new vocuchers, and have ben selling them on Sundays, and buy my hive-engine tokens on Sunday evening or Monday. I did finally manage to get to 5 ArchonM's, and added to my SPI and a little bit to BRO, so the side gig is still sort of going, just not interested in the frustrating daily grind of the quest.

I am not sure what is going to take priority Sunday or Monday evening, I would like one more EDSM that would give me a total of 12, but I also very much want to get to 150 on SPI, so right now I am not sure what will win out in my mind.

Hello @bashadow. You have a lot to consider for ways to earn side money. It's good to have choices. Good luck on your decision which way to go.

It's hard for me to decide sometimes which way to go. So I usually end up just putting a set sum into play and divide and conquer. That way, all tokens get to increase a bit.

With my drawdown of Hive Savings, I took half offsite to buy into other platform coins and tokens.

I still do not have enough knowledge of crypto to try and figure out other sites, and systems, I will get there one day, in the meantime as I have learned over the last 4 years, and continue to learn I will get there eventually. I have figured out a little bit of Ionomy, but still have a ways to go there too, but one day i will have a KYC account somewhere and start to make Hive and other crypto's into FIAT and FIAT into other crypto coins.

I don't even remember or know how I ended with the initial start of 100 SPS being staked, but I am pretty happy with the airdrop amount.

Hello. Hope everyone in Saturday Savers Club had a good week. I'm still holding on as we approach the finish line in several weeks.

Here's my Savers report for Week 43:

Thanks @shanibeer for the LBI for my input into the home health care career. Also, congratulations to @missaj for your successful Weekend Kitchen.

I learn a lot from Club members each week on various topics. Congratulations to @jfang003 and @ericburgoyne for winning in the comments for the Wheel of Names.

I know that tutoring can be a satisfying and income producing side career. I have not done this myself, but know others who tutor in ESL. My understanding is you have to have credentials to be able to tutor others in specialized areas, such as subject taught in classrooms. It may be different for ESL or other languages.

Looks like my prediction for the 1K for @susie-saver is going to be a bust as she's closer to her goals than I anticipated.

Have a good weekend everyone.

Hi @justclickindiva, good to see you 😍.
Yes, for some topics, tutors require a qualification if they are teaching in the state funded system - things like English as a Second Language, Literacy and Numeracy. However, for many leisure subjects, experience, the love of what you do and the ability to teach others can lead to some teaching hours.
You never can tell with predictions, a lot of it depends on the price of Hive - if it soars, then it may take a week or two longer to get to 1,000HP.

I hit my target for CubLife now, so I'm starting to build my LEO stake a little. You're braver than me, I've never ventured into Splinterlands! Hope you enjoy it and good luck 😍.
Best wishes to Sharon, hope she is making steady progress.

Sharon was home yesterday on a day pass to see how she would manage the stairs and stuff it went great, so she shall be released on Nov. 2 so is a happy camper. I still have a way to go on cublife and I am earning about 3 to 5 leo a day so it is building as well.

O that's great, how's it going? I see a lot of discontent from new splinterlands players since some of the rewards got a nerf in bronze.

How do you experience the start, is it that bad?

When I started doing the daily stuff you got more stuff, now you have to buy the cards more so I can see people not being happy but Splinterlands itself has to make money as well so I see why the change.

It's not really because they need to earn but more a counter measure against bots and people just trying to take a lot of value out without investing effort or some money

It's more to make it sustainable long term than wreck the economy, but it's always a balance I guess. Making it fun and attractive enough for new people without giving too much for free and damaging everything by doing so..

Thank you for the EDS. There hasn't been much outside my normal stuff but I did do my monthly CubFinance Farm add. When I checked it on Wednesday or Thursday, my total investment in CubFinance has reached $1,000 but who knows if it will stay that way when I look next month

my total investment in CubFinance has reached $1,000

Woo hoo! Sounds good 😍 You've done well to build that and the rewards are still quite good, I understand? I agree, the price can go up and down. Let's see what happens 😁

Well almost half of my investment was in the DEC pool and the value of that went up almost 50% since last month when I checked. So I have a feeling that it will depend on DEC's price next month.

Hello Saturday Savers
untitled.gif
Congratulations to the savers who received LBI and EDS tokens this week. @justclickindiva @missaj @jfang003 @ericburgoyne

Looks like @susie-saver will hit the 1000HP target 🎯 by next weekend. I wonder what her goal will be after that.

This week I'm at 77% of the journey with 772HP.

Here is my Saturday Savers Club Report for this weekend.

Tutoring Experiences
I've had some experience teaching on the weekend or on weekday evenings in the past. It's pretty common for foreigners here in Japan. There are several Cram schools and English conversation schools here. There is a constant demand for English teachers. Private Schools also tend to have extra lessons on the weekend
for students who want to have higher than average English skills. Of course there is always the option of having your own private students in your home or online. The problem with all this extra work is that it takes away the time you have to do other activities. So even though it usually pays well, when I think about balancing time, I don't do it anymore especially not on weekends as family time suffers.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Thank you for all this great feedback, @bearmol. I understand the demand for English language is always high in other countries (and sometimes in the UK, too). It is very interesting hearing people speak English with the accent of the person that taught them - the most surreal one I've heard was a Chinese person with a Scottish accent.
I agree, there is the balancing of time for side-gigs with other things you want and need to do. It is especially hard when you have a young family, as that can often be the time when you could do with a little cash.
Looking good for your 1,000HP 😍

Hello @bearmol. Thanks for your support as always. You are correct that the ESL is in high demand in foreign countries. It is here also in the U.S. The subject has become so prevalent that schools have incorporated subjects just for ESL.

I'll take a look at your other posts.

Happy to hear you're almost at your goal of 1K.

Take care.

Greetings everyone,
I love a little challenge so here goes my prediction. I think @susie-saver will hit her goal on November 7,2021. Now on to the side gig. This was was kind of slow but I enjoy what I’m doing and that matters more. It does time a bit of time and each week I’ve cooked a bit more. People especially like the jerk chicken so that has become the main thing. I’ve done meat loaves, curried chicken , rice and peas , festivals , French fries, fried chicken and even ackee and saltfish. A lot of the people are not familiar with Jamaican food other than jerk chicken so I have to gently introduce other things to them.

I’ve been looking at other ways of earning on my time. I do have two YouTube channels and recently renamed one after my food gig so I plan to video my cooking and post them to YouTube - editing takes an enormous amount of time but I’ll have to get around to it. I’ve always been interested in mass communication so this might be my avenue. I’ve been trying to get voiceover gigs on sites like voice123.com and freelancer.com. If you get one of those it could be a nice change and something you can do from home. Hope those were useful tips to someone. Have s great week.

Glad everything is going well, @missaj. I must admit I have my favourites, too, fried fish and fried chicken are near the top of the list, but curried lamb, especially on the bone, must be the one 😍. I used to run a training club with a housekeeper from the Caribbean and the lunches were the main attraction for the club 😂.
Voice-over is a good idea, too, thanks for adding to the mix.
Good luck with youtube, let us know how you get on!
