Financial Goals 2021: Doubling Down and HODL...HODL...HODL!

The year 2020 was perhaps not the worst year for me considering we were in the middle of a terrible pandemic which my government (Kenya), in particular, has handled quite poorly.

Regardless of the unfortunate circumstances of the past year, it is the only time I was able to set aside some money to put into cryptocurrencies.

Early 2020 saw me travel back home to our farm where I spent close to 7 months. While I was still paying rent for my house in the city, all the money that usually went to food, utilities, and entertainment was all funneled into crypto.

And I mean all!

So, in a way, the pandemic helped me prioritize my financial future.

Looking ahead to 2021, the opportunities cropping are so many that it is too difficult to keep track of them all. One has to be careful not to spread themselves too thin and end up missing out on other more valuable opportunities.

It is very easy to get lost in the sauce and lose focus on previously set goals.

In particular, I have always had my heart set on Hive as my major investment - something that I hope to continuously grow over a couple of years and join the dolphin and hopefully whale ranks soon.

The other project that has continuously caught my eye is LEO Finance. The constant development and innovation on LEO have generated a massive buzz in the Hive community which can only be a good thing. The LEO team also announced an airdrop that will coincide with the launch of a hush-hush sister project coming to the blockchain. Before then I hope to have a substantial stake in LEO where I hope to become a valuable member of the community.

Finally, 3Speak.
3Speak's airdrop announcement was quite timely. I had just started accumulating Hive again at these low prices when I learned that 3Speak will be airdropping miners for their new project sometime this year. By the time the airdrop comes around, I should have a substantial amount of Hive Power ready for the snapshot. That will be a massive plus in diversifying my portfolio in 2021.

So, to summarize, my three main goals for the year 2021 are:

1: Hive - Reach 10,000 Hive Power before the end of the year.
2: LEO - Reach 2,000 LEO Power before the end of the year.
3: 3Speak - Accumulate 3Speak miner tokens and help to further decentralize video storage on the internet.

Also, breaking that down even further:

• Which is going to be your investment strategy for 2021?

Hodling tokens with the potential to grow in value. i.e Hive and Leo.

• Preferred Investment? Crypto, Real State, Commodities, Stocks?

Crypto is definitely my main one. It is incredibly easy to get into it and you don't have to go through annoying KYC procedures before you get started.

• Do you have any specific assets that you want to invest in?

At the moment, I am stacking a bit of Monero, Hive, Aave, LINK, and Rune. Of these five, Hive, AAVE and Rune are the three I have been hodling long term.

Monero in particular was a worthwhile punt after the price dropped by 20% after Bittrex decided to delist it.

• Do you have a plan or a set of goals on how to use and grow your stake?

Buying! Buying! Buying!

In 2020, I went the 'posting to earn route' with Hive and though I was able to grow my stake, it was not as fast as I would have liked. The easiest way to get to my 10,000 HP goal on Hive is to buy the token. Better now when it is this cheap than when it eventually pumps.

I will end this post by sharing my end goal which could come at any time if my alt bags pump.

Owning my own house!

I hate renting with a passion. This pandemic has just proved just how much most of us are hanging over the precipice financially. Many people have lost their jobs and are now on the streets trying to survive.

However, the lucky few among us who own their homes had a cushion to fall back on. A place to lay their heads and probably only have to worry about what they will eat.

For me, owning my own house would completely free me financially, and that would allow me to dedicate well over 80% of my earnings to investments (mostly crypto) for the rest of my natural life.

$20,000 is the target for that goal to become a reality!
