Diversifying Your HIVE Income

avatar

What a difference four years makes and how much has happened in that time, the one-trick pony called STEEM, the worlds first blockchain-based platform has attracted all sorts to its community and chain. While STEEM still exists, HIVE and to an extent BLURT are expansions of the ecosystem as a whole. The basic premise of all the chains is still seen by many as a cryptocurrency reward in exchange for your content platform, but it has become so much more.

The chain now has gaming, NFT's and other dapps all vying for resources, users and making the ecosystem a richer experience.

While the vast majority of users are still blogging and curating for rewards and some selling for Bitcoin and into fiat, your HIVE income can be used for so much more than a way to get additional fiat but can become different passive income vehicles.

I realise that some may feel they NEED the money, but delaying gratification and reinvesting your income from blogging and curating could build you several streams of income.

Tokens

Token collecting and trading is by far the easiest way to earn; you could be posting on STEEM, HIVE, BLURT and then leveraging the various front ends/tribes to earn their native token, then stockpiling your wallet with a range of tokens all fluctuating in different price ranges and offering different reward levels for your content.

Your content may not be rewarded on the base layer, but your second layer could be netting you a far better return, so it's always worth cross-posting when applicable to your content.

This can effectively double, triple or quadruple your ability to earn from a single piece of content or upvote as you build your stake and vote on various pieces of content too.

Leasing and delegating

If tribes are your thing you may not need all that HIVE in your wallet to work for curation or you may be too busy to curate yourself, while you can set your account to automate you may want to delegate your stake in HIVE or Tribes to projects that will pay you a dividend.

If you're not keen on projects, why not lease your HIVE or STEEM to users who will pay you for it via the dlease marketplace.

Note: - Now that LEO is outstripping HIVE, I'd love to see it set up its own lease market as we see with dlease.

Gaming and NFTs

Some of us are not bloggers or content creators, some like to read and comment, some like to game, and some want to create works of art.

Applications like Splinterlands and dCity have become popular ways to earn tokens without having to put content on the chain every day. NFT's allow you to create custom pieces and then sell them for HIVE with the likes of NFT showroom.

Peakmonsters allows you to rent out your Splinterlands cards for a daily rental fee, and the ways to earn there continue to grow.

Trading

We've all seen the hype about Uniswap, but we have dswap too, we have STEEM-Engine, Hive-Engine and LEODex where you can look for opportunities to buy and sell tokens and net a profit from your trades between various tokens.

Group investments & miners

If you're not into all the trading and active work and you like passive things like delegations where others do the work and reward you for supporting their project, you may want to look at group investing or miner tokens.

Miner tokens are unique tokens on HIVE engine that you can buy for a specific tribe, stake them and get tokens in return for holding those miners. It essentially provides you with tokens from a preferential pool that can only be tapped into via these mining tokens.

@hivebuilder and @spinvest are projects that look outside HIVE for opportunities for their token holders. Buying tokens like (HBT) Hive Builder Token or (SPI) SPinvest Token and merely holding them will net you a passive income.

They use the income generated from their stakeholders and use it to invest in various projects, and you get exposure to different investments and net yourself a return.

In 4 years, this place has come a long way and don't have to blog, curate and sell like the old days. The ecosystem is starting to broaden the use of the various tokens and beginning to reach outside the HIVE ecosystem for opportunities too.

Have your say

What do you good people of HIVE think? How are you diversifying the income you get from HIVE?

I think the possibilities are endless. Making more here than I ever did on Steemit.

I am sure the opportunities we have now are only the tip of the iceberg and in the next couple of years it will just keep expanding. I've seen plenty of projects come and go here, but the good ones tend to stick around

Some years ago one can only earn on just the Steem end alone but nowadays it's different, while many only see hive as only for selling, one can only have more by putting it into various systems and earning more. This is something I've learnt so far.

Selling small bits here and there and going into other alts or BTC I totally get that but people just straight up selling to get fiat, i won't understand, seems short-sighted, but that's fine their erratic small orders, we pick them up and buy-in HIVE on the cheap, so I can't complain.

I've said this many times before but its all about time in the market and getting on the right side of compound and network effects, that doesn't happen when you're selling.

Like 4 years ago this shit didn't even exist so why not use these opportunities properly. If we go on a massive bull run like the run up to $8 sure that I get sell all you want, but selling at 15 cents lol that's just dumb

Well that's true, people can be short sighted and this is terrible by all means, I've actually diversified from my hive earned to buy into leo and I'm not even selling any of my Leo again. Also I bought into ethereum too not much but I'm leaving but there for five years.

I do all of the above

  • dlease running
  • splinterlands account and card leasing
  • spinvest owner
  • Hive.auto curator
  • manual curator
  • leo miners
  • waiting on the next opportunity to jump in

and reading a lot of posts as well.

small question. how do you make the clickable banners on the bottom of your posts?

Looks like you've really embraced the passive income train and its great because before people would put so much pressure on posting to get rewards and complain and fight over upvotes now you can get like you 6 or 7 income streams and just chill out

[![image_alt_text](image_url)](url_to_click)

Practically, it's a normal link, but instead of the text for the link you insert an image.

I hope this helps.

thanks for that... do you know if is there a way with this kind of formatting to have it open in a new window?

(Edited)

New window or new tab? When the interface translates markdown to html, it automatically adds the necessary code to open the link in a new tab, to avoid moving away from the interface if the link is external.

But if you want to force a certain way to act on click, you can use html instead of markdown.

Cannot agree more, I use all of the above myself

  • dlease for loans
  • delegations for tokens
  • Spinvest owner
  • Own NFT in splinterlands, dcity and more
  • own Leom and Leomm and more
  • trade sometimes but only when I am sure to win as I am a lousy trader

Question, how do you create the banner at the bottom that is clickable?

For me, leasing HIVE and creating blogs are my two primary HIVE incomes but I haven't probably made use of other tribe tokens I have like Creative Coin as much as I could have.

If I had time to get involved on the games here, I'd be tempted to do that a lot as well and add to the stack!

I do think it's a matter of time until HIVE is removed as a reward mechanism for content on the first layer with the success of Leo though.

OF the games I only got into Splinterlands and even that took me ages but there was a time when people were giving away decks and cards so I jumped in but other than that, not really into these other games

I think they might be going that way too, but to do that they'll need to launch SMT's and if history is anything to go by that shit ain't happening anytime soon

Another 2 years I reckon, better get posting! Although you're grinding out 13 posts a week like a madman

LOL you’d probably be a whale with all those broken SMT promises

I know right? Operation milk 🥛 in full progress I’m legit mining LEO staking 75% and 25% converting into BTC and it’s going pretty well! Someone’s gotta benefit from all this why not me?

Nah you'll want to keep going and get more whilst you can as I've found out! It does take the pressure off once you get there but you're well close now though!

Hey I have lots of different token and there power like sports token power and want to delegate to earn reward so is there any way to do that?

I haven't heard of any tribe curation programs yet using the native token, I've only ever delegated PAL tokens perhaps worth popping into SPORTS discord and asking if they have one running
