US ECONOMICS: Q2 Current Account Deficit Wider at $170.5 Billion Vs.$160 Billion Expected

The Q2 current account deficit widened to $170.5 billion with a wider revision to a $111.5 billion hole in Q1, the Bureau of Economic Analysis said Friday.

Consensus was for a $160 billion shortfall, according to consensus compiled by Bloomberg.

The headline marked the largest deficit since the Q3 2008, and was 3.5% of current dollar gross domestic product, up from 2.1% in Q1, the bureau said.
