How Does Proof Of Brain Onboarding Really Work?

proof of brain 1.png

I've been thinking about Proof of Brain Community a lot over the last few days, especially as I'm running marketing tests for Hive/Leo/Cub.

I have yet to "buy in" as a gateway to the Hive blockchain but I'm not opposed to it. I haven't sold or staked my POB as of yet but I want a reason to go all in. Heck I'd even buy some if I understand the vision other than scarcity.

My main thought is this. After running my hive tests I've come to the conclusion (and I'm 100% correct) that nobody outside of Hive really knows about hive.

It doesn't matter that it is an awesome blockchain. Nobody has heard of us and it is very difficult to onboard for and get started. (I've played that game too)

So what are your thoughts on getting the outside world onboarded to proofofbrain.io and turning them on to the wonders of blogging and earning?

@leofinance has some pretty easy sign up options but it's still a tough sell. What does the proof of brain braintrust have in store or will this be another Hivian only tribe?

I spend my time curating Leo like mad, what will make it worth it for me to devote time to proofofbrain as well? Look forward too hearing from you in the comments.

As a newly onboarded, I find it bumming that in the HIVE platform, content that was posted years ago is forgotten. It's looked down upon to reblog that content even if it's evergreen.

The incentive on HIVE from what I can see, is to join challenges and vote as fast as possible to get rewarded.

If someone finds a way for good quality-evergreen-posts to earn rewards years to come you'd onboard many newbies.

I understand that a post from years ago can be tipped after the 7 days, however no one's incentivized to do that and therefore it gets forgotten.

Well I know that allowing for earnings on evergreen content is something on the list for Leofinance. It is going to be done somehow by activating earnings on new comments.

Does proof of brain currently have a mechanism for earning on old posts?

Wow! If LeoFinance pulled that off, that'd be awesome! It'd incentivize high quality content for sure.

Not sure if proof of brain has anything similar in mind but would be cool if they followed Leo's footsteps. :D

Well, they have come up with the method but have not implemented it yet. Admin spending a lot of time on cubdefi. Hopefully it happens soon enough

This sounds like a wonderful idea and we would definitely bring in more users. Youtubers earn big bucks not in 7 days but over a year as something goes viral.

7 days is not enough time for something to go viral other than on the block chain further closing us off

I agree evergreen content rewards are.something that's needed to attract established creators and would be a big selling point.

For sure! How do we find out when they'd be coming out with an update like that?

This is an interesting point that I hadn't considered... I personally don't mind reading good evergreen content without having the ability to upvote it... but I also understand the consensus I'm seeing in this comment thread: that this great content should be financially "evergreen" as well. That seems like a tall order, unless they just eliminate the age threshold entirely.

On boarding is a pain point and aura also very difficult to understand how the system works in general. RC concept is very strange to people who are used to other social media platforms and they would never encounter such problem. Looking forward to read others suggestions and views.

Yeah, big problem. New users don't want to get caught in the weeds. They don't care about that stuff. They want to sign up and get going. Its a big problem and I don't think users feel they want to mess with it.

There is a huge learning curve to onboard the masses. It is hard to understand given that users have to "pay" with RC's to interact. Think of how they are used to working. They sign up for a new service or create a separate account, you are then free to post as much meaningless comments and content as you wish. Since you are the product, you are generating revenue to pay for those servers.

Now - people can sign up - and get enough RC's to comment/post a few times a day, until they prove they too are providing value and get more RC's to increase usage. I think the problem is getting people to HIVE long enough to start to see the returns.

HIVE also has big echo chambers, where if you don't post the right content that floats the whales boats, you don't get the upvotes. It may be hard to branch our and get some to want to join and fight and scratch a following and community if blogging about more traditionally financial topics.

As mentioned before, some users are creating really valuable sticky content, but can only get paid once. That breaks every other online content model out there, and might be hard for a creator to want to put in the effort. I like HIVE, I am HIVE exclusive with my content, but I think I may be in the minority by not cross posting.

For now I like the idea of POB, and its been a great community to me, but for reasons I can't understand, getting people on HIVE is super hard. Until FB/YT starts to mass ban accounts, we will struggle to get growth.

thanks for such an in-depth response. Im not sure that facebook/youtube banning will benefit us. But I did get banned from Facebook today. I added a new user to my ads account to co-manage ads and my account was disabled. No forms or instructions to get it back. One of the most frustrating days ever!!!

But Hive doesn't offer that type of benefit for busines.

I do I hope I catch on with POB, I dont much attention but if that changes I'll probably stake. I'm trying to figure out if it is just a gathering place for Hivians. In the end who will be buying the tokens in the future?

I know nothing about POB, but I think the subject of #Hive on-boarding is a valuable one which will only get more pertinent as people think of shifting somewhere en masse.

Why do you think POB would be a better option than something like CineTV or FOODIE? (Like I said, I know nothing about it... just curious.) This was a great comment thread to absorb even though I can't contribute anything helpful. I !LUV seeing this level of engagement! :)

Your statement is quite accurate although many here in this space have a hard time acknowledging it.

"After running my hive tests I've come to the conclusion (and I'm 100% correct) that nobody outside of Hive really knows about hive. It doesn't matter that it is an awesome blockchain. Nobody has heard of us and it is very difficult to onboard for and get started."

The platform is confusing and cluttered with all the frontends giving access to the same thing. The way upvoting and reward distribution works isn't self-explanatory; one has to dive into several articles to get a basic comprehension on how things work. In order to onboard peeps from the FAAMG world, things need to become more user-friendly. A confused mind never buys! This totally applies to the Hive blockchain.

PS. Thanks for raising the 'onboarding process' question.

Currently POB is definitely not able to get people from the outside to join and that would be a problem, if we were trying to conquer the world.

Other tribes (Like Leo) have shown, how good content can drive a token's market cap up. So I see it as a great opportunity to earn by staking and especially by actually writing! It's pretty hard to work yourself up the ladder on hive or leo, while pob is extremely profitable.

In the long run it would be awesome, if we were able to decouple the token from hive and get listed on the outside. But this is not a prerequisite for success.
