Setting up my next venture...
If you have been following me for more than a week, you probably know that I am pretty heavily invested in NFTs over on the WAX blockchain. Besides Hive/Leo, that is probably my single biggest investment. The cool thing is, it cost me virtually nothing to get started because I used all of my powered down STEEM to purchase WAX when it was $.03 per token.
By purchasing that WAX, it gave me the opportunity I needed to start buying some NFTs when certain projects launched. I have already talked at length in my other posts about Alien Worlds, but one of the other projects I invested in fairly early was Dark Country.
Part of what really drove me to Dark Country was the art on the cards. They really knocked it out of the park on that. The cards are just a joy to look at and explore. I am not that great at strategy card games, but I do know the value that games like this can have down the road. Just look at Magic the Gathering and Splinterlands.
I made a little bit of WAX from some of my NFTs that I have staked on RPlanet. RPlanet actually pays you in a token called Aether and then you have to convert that to WAX on an exchange. The price of Aether is pretty decent right now, so I was able to get a good chunk of WAX.
Since Dark Country just announced that they are going to start selling land and they also decided to expand to the FLOW blockchain, I thought it might be a good idea to pick up some more assets. I took my newly earned WAX and I bought 141 standard packs from the Dark Country website. I also picked up enough of the Reviving Potions to open those packs and give me a better chance for some really good cards.
In the end I got about 715 cards from those packs. I got one mythic, a handful of legendaries, some epics, a bunch of rare, and a few common cards.
Overall, I am fairly happy with my haul. Now I begin the long process of moving them from my Dark Country account to my WAX account and deciding what to do with them. I might sell a couple, I might stake some in RPlanet. I am not sure yet.
I also may just hold onto them and wait for the full game to be launched. It is possible one of these cards might be part of a meta-build and the price could skyrocket.
There is a lot of excitement around the Dark Country game and although it doesn't currently or directly offer a passive income like Alien Worlds, I think it has a ton of potential. Especially if they are able to successfully launch the mobile app that they are working on.
This could potentially be Hearthstone big!
Of course, do your own research, but this is where I am putting my chips down right now!

The art on those cards are amazing, and lets hope you hold some that have great value when the game takes off

I hope so too!
Wax has been good to me too, TLM has mooned, and now, with rplanet AETHER is on the rise too.
I really think WAX has a lot of potential, its fast, free and has cornered the collectible cards market (apart from NBA topshot on flow)

For sure! You pretty much nailed every aspect of why I love WAX so much. It is crazy the number of people who are quitting their jobs because the passive income is just so good over there. I think those individual projects may come and go, but at least holding some WAX is never a bad idea.

i still haven't explored NFT much. just got my wax wallet today for an airdrop which I was pretty late for. might get distracted and go deeper into the rabbit hole.
What was the airdrop that you are looking at? WAX is well worth the time to investigate it.

it was an airdrop by a music band

Ah, okay. That is cool! It seems like every couple of days there is a new release happening on WAX.

Did you get any land or are they in the boosters? I got an email from them about it but did not follow it up.
No, land hasn't went on sale yet for Dark Country. I am going to skip the FLOW lands and just wait for the WAX ones.

It seems you need 7 FLOW staked and that doesn't come cheap. Several hundred dollars just to be able to buy land, no thanks!
Sounds interesting. I don't think I will buy cards without utility but I'll just follow along by reading your adventures.

Okay, your call. They will be playable in the game eventually. Plus who knows what else they will come up with.

Still worth it to get in?
Since they haven't launched lands yet I would say yes. You will have missed out on some of the packs with things like heroes and stuff, but you can get those on Atomic Hub. I missed out on the Exodus packs completely.

I have just started buying some nft's on wax and trying to claim some free ones as well. There are always airdrops and i have sold some splinterlands to fund other purchases.
Looks like i will need to check out dark country and see what it's all about.

You definitely should. It is pretty cool. I think it is going to be really awesome when they have the full game available. The roadmap looks really great.

Dammit you got me investigating now too! All this stuff, Alien Worlds, RPlanet, is new to me. Dark Country has been on my radar for a while but I've never dove in.
Are there any good articles out there about exactly how the RPlanet staking contract works? I couldn't find anything and I'm just curious about any possible risks as it does seem to move the NFT out of my WAX inventory when staked.
I haven't seen anything. The good news is you can unstake immediately at any time. That is a fair question about what happens to them when they are staked.
