Epic Fail: The Doge Challenge Results
Well, a week has come and gone and it seems that I severely misjudged a couple of things. A week go I presented the community with the Doge Challenge. This was an initiative to try to guide some of these Doge holders with newfound riches over to the Hive side.
I feel that the challenge was pretty simple. You write a post walking these individuals how to move some or all of their Doge gains over into Hive.
With so many avenues, exchanges, and swaps available, the sky was the limit and I was hoping to get a ton of varying paths that Doge holders from all over the globe could follow.
As I said though, I misjudged...
Maybe the 20 LEO prize wasn't a big enough incentive for the work involved. Maybe my reach and/or influence isn't as sweeping as I think it is after three plus years on this chain. Maybe it just wasn't that great of a challenge, or maybe people just don't care about Doge holders and are sick of hearing about it.
Either way, I got a whopping 0 entries in my challenge.
That's right, a big fat goose egg. Talk about a kick in the groin.
To say I am disappointed is probably an understatement. Perhaps I should have led by example and written my own post. I mean it's only fair that I shouldn't ask you to do something that I myself am not willing to do.
I don't know.
So I have this 20 LEO sitting in my hive engine wallet that I was expecting to give to some lucky winner today. Instead, as promised, I will be sending the LEO over to the Help a Cub initiative started by @silverstackeruk and detailed in this post.
There you go, the funds have been transferred, the challenge has been closed.
Being honest, I'm not sure I will ever try to do one of these again. If you have any thoughts or insight on why it might have failed, please feel free to share them with me. As much as I am hoping it was just a logistical error on my part, a piece of me can't help but thinking people just don't care what I have to say...

As much as I appreciate your initiative I'd say we have missed the right approach so far. As I wrote in my latest post, I believe that we need some paid marketing. We need media outlets to write about us, influential youtubers to have us in their videos, paid adds and so on. Nothing fancy, but a bit more professional. I have sharing my posts on twitter before posh was a thing and no results...

Yes, sharing on Twitter seems to only reach the same people that we are reaching here. I am looking forward to see what the marketing initiative that LordButterfly is working on can bring for us.

I am hoping for anything that could boost Hive's exposure to be approved and encouraged. Without marketing we're gonna play a closed circle game.

The last one:
@acesontop is right too

It appears so!

Shame about that. I would think some of those doing well from DOGE would be keen to use it. Maybe it has peaked now anyway. I'm out of that game.
!BEER
I never held any, so I don't really know. More likely most of them moved it all into fiat and are not really that interested in other blockchains. They got their riches and now they are done.

I expect a lot will just take the profit. Could be a lot for some. I don't blame people for actually spending their gains. I only had a few hundred from faucets and Eobot mining.
Yeah, I don't either. I was just thinking if they were looking for something new to try out. Let's try to bring them to Hive.

Exactly. Some may be new to crypto and may be interested in the social side. Have to target them somehow.

I just couldn't bring myself to write about a coin I don't have trust in. Also I forgot towards the end as I was quite busy. I think it is quite hard to get people to participate in challenges sometimes but maybe you can just improve your criteria next time. However I was expecting at least one entry since everyone was talking about Doge recently.

That is kind of what I was thinking too. Even one half-assed entry would have been nice. Oh well. I guess I need to do better next time (if there is a next time). I don't blame you for the first reason. I kind of feel the same way!

That really sucks that you didn't receive any entries.. In thought it seemed easy but maybe it would've been harder actually thinking of all of the steps to get to a finished product. But that is my best guess.
And for me, I know you have integrity but some others may have seen otherwise in this case. In effect, I didn't make a post to eliminate all chances of bias or thoughts of said bias.
No worries. I totally understand what you are saying! The funds still went to a good cause, so I am feeling pretty good about that. I think the amount of work probably wouldn't have equaled the prize.

Doge Holders tend to have diamond hands unless they are donating.

Do not be discouraged. I have held a number of contests over the years with very little participation. It is what it is. At least the prizes you donated to a worthy charity. That is something of which to be very proud!

Yes, that is a good thing. I feel good about that. Thanks for the pep talk!
