Money and happiness

They tell me money can't buy happiness, maybe it's true or maybe it's not, but it sure as hell can get me where I want. I just had a long conversation with one of my friends who relocated to Germany and the summary of the conversation is that with enough money, you can exit Nigeria.

I know the grass isn't always green on the other side, but the one over here is dead. If you try to water it, you might be killed by the authorities, so leaving it as it is might just be the master plan. Maybe they're trying to simulate a desert and your "watering" is the problem.

Then I scroll through my Whatsapp statuses and it's Bill Gates divorce that's trending. There's one of the richest men in the World exiting his marriage despite having all of that?

So money can't sustain love, and here I thought it was all I've ever needed. I'm focused on getting money but I'm trying so hard not to lose myself in the process. I'm losing interest in all the normal things I use to enjoy and everything just seems so drab.

I haven't had fun in a long time because I'm scared shitless of going outside and I'm also not just feeling anything. Nigeria is sucking out my soul with its Nigerianness and if this persists, I might end up being a lifeless being.

I am a Nigerian and I understand your plight.
It can be very frustrating.
Money is happiness but money cannot buy a lot of other things.
Nevertheless, making money is very important because without it you can't have a good life.
