Instead of Donating RC... RE Hivefest RC delegations

So I listened to @blocktrades AMA in HiveFest and I really think providing RC tokens for account creation is an awesome idea.

But here's the kicker

RC Pool could become the first widely used DeFi service on HIVE.

  • Users send their RCs to the pool
  • Users receive a % ownership of the pool
  • New Sign-ups auto-set beneficiary (eg 3%) to the pool
  • Pool owners can claim their % share of the accrued rewards

Make sense?

I really can't see a practical use to Resource Credits when you have over 100 Hive Power but less than that required to claim an Account Creation Token. 😐

There's uses for sure. Bots definitely need them, but the average person doesn't. I've got some bots on parts of hive engine markets and I feed them each with a minimum of 150 HP(I've had one at 500 HP at one point to ensure it was running) because they are always doing something.

We need RCs for LeoFinance. Right now, we accept HP delegations to @leo.voter in exchange for a daily LEO payout. We turn around and use that HP to claim account creation tokens and then use the HP rewards we receive from curation to delegate to our new sign ups.

If we had RC pools of some kind, we could rent RCs at some % instead of "renting" HIVE POWER in the form of delegations.

It's crazy that this wasn't built yesterday.

Let me see if I understand this...

We want to make it easy, and with no upfront fee, for new people to join Hive.
Now, we need to get them an account creation token, which costs RC to produce, and then we need to get them some RC so they can do things on Hive since things cost RC to do.
But RC isn't transferrable, so we can't give them to a pool or to new accounts.

I think we can't give account creation tokens either, but we can make them available for others to use.
Is there a way to pool account creation tokens? Maybe have a service similar to the account creation services already out there, but drawing from a pool of account creation tokens. There could also be an HP pool to delegate to new accounts so they have some RC. The new accounts auto-benefit the pool at 3% or whatever rate the pool sets.

Just a thought experiment on my part, to see if I understand the problem and possible solutions. I can see that this would be much easier if RCs were transferrable! Makes sense and I like your idea, @ash :)
