How to Grow LeoFinance.io Traffic Through SEO

avatar
(Edited)

It's no secret that when Leo content ranks in Search Engine Results Page (SERP) it drives traffic to the platform. These visitors can then be converted to users.

LeoFinance.io as a domain will continue to gain Domain Authority into the future, with the potential of becoming a real powerhouse!

I saw a great SEO post yesterday by a fellow content creator that I would love to link to but unfortunately can't find the post.

They had listed the current DA for LeoFinance.io and I think it's good info to know.

LeoFinance.io Domain Authority is 26, a great start!

What is Domain Authority?

Domain Authority is a search engine ranking score created by MOZ, that takes into considering a variety of on-page and off-page elements to predict how well a particular domains content will rank in search results.

Domain Authority is calculated by evaluating multiple factors, including linking root domains and the number of total links, into a single DA score. This score can then be used when comparing websites or tracking the "ranking strength" of a website over time. [ -https://moz.com/]

It's not part of google search results algorithms, and isn't the be all end all of how to get content ranked but I believe it's still a relevant metric to monitor in 2021.

With topics such as finance being known to google algorithms as YMYL content, it's held to a higher standard when it comes to building trust and ultimately what is known as domain authority (DA).

What is YMYL Content?

Your Money Your Life, these are websites, pages, and content that contain info that may impact user’s safety, financial stability, health or future happiness.

This includes LeoFinance and it's content as it falls primarily within financial information. Other example of YMYL content would include legal and medical information.

Because this type of content could adversely impact people’s happiness, health, finances, or safety, Google holds such pages to a higher standard of quality in its SEO algorithm, as well as in its Search Quality Evaluator Guidelines. - https://www.hencove.com/

Because it's held to a higher standard I feel it's that much more important to make an effort to improve the SEO landscape here on LeoFinance.io

Before I go further understand that SEO can get very technical and I'm not an SEO expert.

That said my partner in crime is an SEO specialist for one of the largest online retailers on planet earth so I have a bonified SME in my household.

In addition to this I have completed 2 digital marketing certificates, one from Google Garage and one from the Canadian Marketing Association and have built multiple SEO focused websites and achieved rankings on page 1 for my content.

Simple Ways You Can Add SEO To Your Content

On-Page tactics to improve SERP and LeoFinance.io DA

[1] External linking to relevant high authority domains.

See what I did above, I linked out to both Google Garage and the CMA. Both domains are relevant to the content in this post and have high domain authority, 82 and 49 respectively.

[2] Use titles and sub titles to Answer questions.

Lets say my content is "How to rank with SEO?" so that might be the T1 title.

Now within the post break your content into section under relevant T2 titles that are also helpful to users who searched your original keyword phrase.

How do I know what ese these users are searching for?

Well you could use a tool like Alsoasked.com where you can type in your keyword phrase and it will scrape goggle for you and let you know.

Or you can simply scrape google yourself!

Just type your keyword phrase into the search and look for this handy little box somewhere down the page.

If you can use these other search quarries in the same content as T2 titles and legitimately be helpful, google will reward you.

Off-Page & The Power of Sharable Content

[1] Create Sharable Content!

Sharable content is a huge help in building backlinks, which can help "transfer" domain authority when relevant high domain authority sites link back to LeoFinance.io by sharing your content.

#ProjectBlank could be the key here, as sharable content drives traffic, and builds domain authority through backlinks.

I haven't experimented much with short format content here on LeoFinance and I'm not entirely sure how well it would be received.

That said, shareable content can be short posts with factual information, or fun information in the form of infographics, pictures, short videos, or even memes!

Try targeting content that validates your audiences opinions or appeals to their values. You could also potentially try posting about topics that are controversial, helpful, or are currently trending topics.

Bottom line is keep it short, keep it fun, keep it shareable.

I think the challenge with SEO here on LeoFinance.io is that there's no immediate incentive for creators to implement these tactics, particularly the on-page tactics.

There's potentially a large benefit to the platform by exposing it to SERP with posts that rank. For this reason I think it needs to made very easy for users to implement, perhaps automated, and certainly frictionless.

Would LeoFinance.io Benefit From a Suite of SEO Tools?

A few months back I popped into the LEO Discord and dropped a suggestion into the appropriate channel.

Something along the lines of "I think LeoFinance would greatly benefit from a simple suite of SEO tools, and it will also help to attract professional content creators as it's somewhat of a basic expectation now."

Why is wordpress the king of SEO content websites? Partly because of the SEO tools readily available to it's users.

If LeoFinance wanted to go into beast mode they could try to do two things 1) SEO suite of tools 2) Create a monetization model for evergreen content.

GAME OVER

At minimum LeoFinance could invest in it's users and the future of the platform by creating a simple suite of SEO tools that would do a basic keyword check, formatting and readability check, link check, and editable meta description feature.

The future's so bright, got to wear shades!

Ciao for now,

@agr8buzz

Finance Ads also pay the most on Adsense. It’s a great niche market.

yeah, it's a tougher nut to crack in terms of building domain authority but the earning potential is higher for Ads, and potential Info Products.

Those are great tips. Another way for us to help is to cross link to other posts with in LeoFinance using keyword targeted link text. They add to page rank for the linked page, but more importantly you are in control of the link text so it is easier to SEO the key phrase you may be targeting. For example a link to "DIY miner from old computer" adds a back link to my old post with a desirable keywords. Much better than using "my post from yesterday" as link text.

yup you're correct! Honestly I get a bit lazy with this sometimes and just use something generic like "in this post", but you're right link text does count for something.

I really don't know the impact of proper internal linking structure with a user generated content platform like LeoFinance. I've implemented internal linking strategies for wordpress sites, but haven't made the effort to try it with Leo. The fact evergreen content cant be monetized is probably the deterrent. I could build long 2500 word "Pillar" posts, and link to those from the topical medium length information posts that pulll traffic from SERP, but without being able to monetize it properly what's the point.

SEO content websites are typically built around SERP -> Pillar -> Ads/Info Products/Referrals. I'm not sure how that is achieved on graphene blogs..

Why can't evergreen content be monetized?

To clarify I meant evergreen content cant be monetized here on HIVE/LeoFinance because you can only upvote for the first 7 days of a post, After that point obviously the post is not longer able to earn. Versus a wordpress blogs content that can earn revenue for potentially many years.

I saw that! With all due respect to the author, without some key changes I don't think it's a strong proposal.

Cheers! It went well as a primer to get others, who are more knowledgeable, talking about the subject. Might be worth pooling those together somehow.....

This is one of the reasons I kept my old Steemit page as it has more site age and backlink age than Hive or Leofinance. Creating content (once in awhile) and linking back from there can really help us rank in Google search.

I always thought it was a shame that some let emotions be their guide in abandoning years of hard work. Put your old websites to good use and create BACKLINKS to your Leofinance and Hive content.

Put Justin Sun to work for us! :)

High site and backlink age is a terrible thing to waste.
