Crypto Portfolio Rebalance Check-Up (4 Months later)

On January 8th I made significant adjustments to my main crypto portfolio. This is a bag of coins that I don't touch for months at a time. Nearly 4 months later let's see how we're doing.

Here we are nearly 4 months later and a good time to evaluate the adjustments that were made and see how the coins have performed individually.

Honestly it's not an impressive portfolio and I can see it's missing a few key pieces. Thing is I don't have all the funds in the world, and while I have been trading and benefiting from the growth of DeFi coins and other alts I haven't been able to make significant investments in them.

Work with what you've got right?

I will make adjustments for alt season, and see if there's room to lower my BTC and ETH holdings to acquire a position in some blue chip DeFi and NFT alts.

Main Portfolio Performance

Big 2 [70% Portfolio Weight]

  • Bitcoin(BTC)
  • Ethereum(ETH)

Combined growth of 162% (BTC 38%, ETH 124%). How about those ETH gains...b00m!

If I trim back on these two I have to think it will come from BTC and might have to leave most of the ETH to ride out alt season. No decisions being made today but soon.

Lrg Cap [>1B][20% Portfolio Weight]

  • Tezos(XTZ)
  • Polkadot(DOT)
  • Chainlink(LINK)

Combined loss of ...just kidding! Combined growth of 527% (XTZ 109%, DOT 268%, LINK 150%)

The main growth in this current phase of the larger crypto cycle has come from my large caps, these coins have done great, all three with over 100% gains in just under 4 months.

Md Cap [100M-1B][0%]

  • none. The fuck is wrong with me?!?

Sml Cap [10M-100M][10% Portfolio Weight]

  • LEO Finance(LEO)
  • WAX(WAXP)
  • HIVE(HIVE)

Combined growth of 1,039% (LEO 34%, WAX 582%, HIVE 423%)

Pretty pumped overall for these small coins, great growth from both WAX and HIVE, 2 out of 3 isn't bad especially considering these are very high risk coins.

High risk high reward right, but I can't justify keeping the bulk of my portfolio in high risk coins but congrats to those crazy mofo's that go all in on HIVE, you could be winning!

Portfolio Recap

Best performing coin was surprisingly not BTC or ETH but instead WAX, who would have thought?

Well I had a hunch, I've been publishing NFT's on WAX for a while and it's the real deal. The only question mark for me is the CEO who has fucked up companies in the past.

Worst performing coin in my portfolio in the past 4 months is unfortunately LEO.

But that's ok, It's early and this is a long term hold. I do plan to hold LEO through the crypto winter while I can't say the same for my other small caps.

What Are Your Best Performing Coins?

Always interested to see what your best holdings are along with some insights into your strategy.

With alt season seemingly upon us I'm willing to make some adjustments to the portfolio. I will shift some weight away from the big two perhaps bringing them down to 50% of total holdings, is this a mistake?

Last crypto cycle I didn't manage my portfolio as actively and admittedly missed out on potential gains. The goal this time around is to experiment somewhat with the portfolio and a deliberate shift to alts in order to outperform what I did in 2017/18. I'll post about my alt season strategy and portfolio adjustment hopefully next week.

Most my crypto investment is in Splinterland cards. My next two biggest is HIVE and STEEM and then my Hive/Steem-Engine tokens. At one point I had some XRP but sold them so I could put more in Splinterlands.

I took about a 10 month break from most my online activities. The biggest shock was seeing that STEEM had reached over $1. I was very tempted to sell my liquid STEEM and I still might.

As I suspected most the tribe tokens I collected for months aren't worth much. The only one that seems to of held any value is Leo and I only have about 1500 of them.

SPT has been my biggest let down due to it having no use case yet. I still see a ton of value in the SPT token. The community is there, the support is there, we just need a use case for it and its value has potential to explode.

Any type of in game use. Adding SPT as an option to purchase skins could be a nice first step.

With land coming up, it would be nice to see something that can be only purchased using SPT tokens.
