AskLeo - Any "Bear Market Strategy", Sir?
Before throwing rocks at me for even mentioning "bear market" at the moment, while being at the same time so vocal about a potential super cycle that we might be in, lets start from the premise that we don't know exactly what's going to happen in the next three, six months, or even a year.
Well, we actually don't even know how the market is going to behave. The ones claiming to know are the biggest charlatans in the crypto space. If they knew that, they would probably be billionaires by now.
My gut feeling tells me that we won't have anymore of those harsh cold bear markets as we had the past two cycles, but my gut feeling might be wrong, thus for the sake of this interactive post lets discuss what would I would do in case we will have a bear market similar to the one from 2018 in the near future.
What's the strategy?
First of all I will have to mention that I will sell all the way up, if we get parabolic across the board, and once I feel we're at the peak, or a peak, I will start shorting certain coins, thus way earning on both the way up and down...
Afterwards I am planning to cash out some powder and the rest will be staked so I can earn decent enough without needing to sell my blogging tokens at bear market prices and still be able to live off of crypto, or at least cover most of my expenses with crypto money.
If we don't enter a proper bear market then I might hold most of my coins and probably stake them and get some interest on them. I am prepared for either scenarios. As mentioned on my blog for several times, I do believe that there won't be much selling pressure, especially on Bitcoin, once it peaks, as it was back in 2018.
The mining rewards are halved, according to some analysts miners aren't selling much even at these prices as they better stake most of the coins or use them as collateral and live off of interest. We also have large financial institutions that have accumulated a lot of Bitcoin and don't plan on selling. Moreover, it seems that 98% of the Bitcoin to be mined will have been mined by 2030.
If it is to become a store of value, then not many will be willing to give away that store of value for inflationary currencies. Probably some cooling off period will come after potential parabolic raises, but I believe we have slim chances for a true bear market. I am prepared for both scenarios though. What about you?
Thanks for attention,
Adrian

To be honest, what I expect isn't far from your thoughts, I feel we shouldn't have such circle, but at the same time, with all the centralized players amongst us, we may see a terrible bloodbath, as a result, for at least most of us here, Hive Engine tokens may see some Juicy numbers, I won't pick but I expect them to be the most stable during this period because if I should see a bear signal, this space will be my shield...
As for getting some dust, I started that long ago, that's to avoid the urge of going all Fiat out, that would be terrible...

Dear Ace:
After having a little fun with @badbitch as a palate cleanser, I'll weigh in. I posted an article you may have missed,
https://ecency.com/hive-167922/@underground/who-knows-about-an-unscheduled-pseudo-halving-for-bitcoin
It discusses the facts of miners not selling the coins they are mining just to keep operating. This is very bullish and you do reference the same effect in your closing comments. I believe that, along with mass adoption, are coinciding to create this non-cyclic bump we are experiencing right now. IMO we are in a similar yearly cycle as expected, but have broken free (hopefully) of the ~4 year halving, traditional boom-bust cycle we were in.
I know this all sounds like I'm just repeating what you said above, that is why I linked my own article and these have been my thoughts for quite some time. I have even older content on the steem blockchain where I posted the mass adoption bell curve and right now, I believe we are getting into the most interesting phase of that curve. 😀
