My favourite... floor

I doubt there's a good therefore favourite one. What fits depends on the house and your life style. In a humid house, you haven't many options.

Wood is nice on the floor.
If you put some white sand on it it's a way to clean up. I saw it in a pub once. How it is at home? I guess sand through your entire house? And what bout the risk of bugs and sand fleas?

It's great if you can sweep and mob a floor but not all floors are or even look clean with the same afford in it.
Vinyl and tiles might be great but during winters your floors are extremely cold. Out of experiences I know vinyl absorbs smells and a lot of dirt remains between the tiles.

Parquet and laminate can look great.
Especially parquet. I lived in houses that had both. Parquet, real parquet, is wood you need to cherish and take care of. This means polishing and waxing once a week. It's cold too you might need some carpets.
Laminate is not real wood more like cardboard. After some years or a water leak or flood or in a humid place, you can throw it away. If you have pets better be careful too. The eggs of fleas, etc will hide between or underneath your floor for decades and laminate absorbs smells too.

Marble might be great but besides it's expensive it's extremely cold too.
You better might use floor heating to prevent you from ice-cold feet. My granny covered the floors with carpet.

Carpet needs to be vacuumed.
Vacuumed a lot even in a house where you live alone and no pets are allowed. Carpet catches dust and dirt you are rarely aware of. It's the same amount as you see on the other floors I described you just believe you live in a cleaner house.

I had it all, all types of floors, in all kinds of colours and all for a different reasons and not one of them is my favourite.
I have tiles now because my house is humid and it is easier for me to sweep a floor as to vacuum it. Within 20 minutes my feet are ice-cold although I wear house shoes (I do not like dirty feet).

This is my floor. The name of the tiles is "Vesuvius". There were glitters in it but I think the time had more on his hands as you can find back in my tiles. Our floor is swept about 3 times a day and still dirty.
