Top 3 Romantic Novel Masterpiece

There are many novels for movie productions, however, these on my list are some of the greatest you will ever see. This is a fact.

The Notebook

This movie is based on the 1996 novel written by Nicholas Sparks. It was released in 2004 and was directed by Nick Cassavetes.

The cast of this movie was Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams who played the roles of young Noah Calhoun and Allison 'Allie' Hamilton, and James Garner and Gena Rowlands who play the roles of an aged Noah and Allie.

The story is about a young couple who start an addictive romance at a young age. The entire movie is a narrative being given by an old Noah Calhoun who is in a home for the elderly with Allie Hamilton who has lost her memory.

He tells her the story of their romance whenever he wants to help her regain her memory for a few minutes before she loses it all over again.

On this very day, Noah recites the story of how they met at 17 and how they fell addictively in love with each other. He was a lumber cutter earning only pennies, while she was a wealthy heiress. Their love was almost forbidden.

What began as a summer romance with them had to be cut short when her parents decided to relocate to put an end to their affair. Noah wrote to her for an entire year but her mother hid the letters. After his 365th letter, he stopped writing to her and enlisted in the army.

Allie became hopeless after not receiving any letter from him and after her education at the university decided to enlist as an army nurse where she met Ron. She fell in love with Ron and in time, they were engaged to be married. He was from a wealthy family so her parents permitted the union.

A few days before her wedding, Allie saw a picture of Noah in the papers and decided to go see him. Their romance was rekindled and her intended wedding was stopped.

This movie has everything you desire from a sad romantic movie. The roles were played effortlessly and the end would make a grown man cry.

"Look, guys. That's my sweetheart in there. I'm not leaving her. This is my home now. Your mother is my home."

Fault in our stars

Based on the 2012 novel by John Green, this movie was released in 2014. It was directed by John Boone, with Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort playing the lead roles as Hazel Grace Lancaster and Augustus 'Gus' Waters.

This movie is about two teenagers, Hazel Grace who has Thyroid Cancer and Gus who had bone cancer. Their romance is kindled from an exchange of novels, after which Gus makes arrangements for both of them to pay a visit to Hazel's favourite author to enquire about the end of his novel.

This author turns out to be a mean drunk, his correspondence with them had been through his manager who hoped that their visit would make him a bit more responsible.

During their visit, Gus lets Hazel know that his cancer which had been in remission had emerged again and was taking over his entire body. They remain hopeful as they share their first romantic night together.

When they return home, Gus cancer becomes worse and 8 days after a pre-funeral he has with his friends he dies.

This had to top the list of my saddest movies. It was filled with so much hope and false expectation. I cried when they made love and when she found out he dies, I was a slobbering mess.

Favourite Quote

"I'm in love with you, and I'm not in the business of denying myself the simple pleasures of saying true things".

The final movie on my list is;

Me Before You

This movie was adapted from the book by Jojo Moyes written in 2012. It was released in 2016 and was directed by Thea Sharrock. The lead roles of this movie were Emilia Clark and Sam Clafin who played the roles of Louisa 'Lou' Clark and William 'Will' Traynor.

This movie centres on the tragic life of Will who is a hands-on energetic playboy who gets into an unfortunate accident and is paralyzed from his neck downward permanently.

Struck with depression from his forced situation his parents seek to find a cheerful caregiver to make him find some kind of happiness. That's when they find Luo, a cheerful girl from the locality who dresses in bright colours and is chatty.

Will and Lou have a stiff start but everything changes when he offends her and she tells him off. That singular act made Will ease up to her and they began a friendship that could have easily become more if he didn't make the decisions he made.

Will had planned on an assisted suicide and Lou was made aware of it. In a bid to change his mind, she and her sister made plans for activities that could change his mind. It wasn't until a planned trip to Mauritius that he told her his mind had already been made up.

Lou was broken. She finally went to be with him during his final moments before his death.

Favourite Quote

"I thought, briefly, that I would never feel as intensely connected to the world, to another human being, as I did at that moment".

Conclusion

These 3 movies are best seen with a tissue. I've read the novels and I would have you know that the movies were created amazingly. They cut out a couple of parts, but the story still remained and the sadness was felt as the author meant them to be felt.

For a person who has been disappointed by love many times, these books and movies make me feel some kind of satisfaction. Can't explain it.
