¡Hola a todos! Esta es mi primera publicación en éste grupo y me alegra que sea para hablarles de uno de mis cartoons favoritos. Cuando era niña solía verlo a través del canal Nickelodeon, pero era difícil seguirle la secuencia ya que los horarios estaban intercalados todo el tiempo o la dejaban de transmitir sin previo aviso. Luego de años afortunadamente la hallé en una app de streeming (Pluto tv), lo que me permitió por fin verla completa. Debo admitir que me sorprendió mucho que una serie como Ginger sea tan poco recordada comparado con otras series de ese canal, dado su contenido fuera de lo común. Si nunca la vieron, entonces no se preocupen, les comentaré de que va éste interesante cartoon sin hacer spoilers.

Hi everyone! This is my first post in this group and I am glad that it is to tell you about one of my favorite cartoons. When I was a child, I used to watch it through the Nickelodeon channel, but it was difficult to follow the sequence since the schedules were interspersed all the time or they stopped transmitting without notice. La serie gira en torno a la vida de Ginger Foutley, quien es una adolescente de 12 años al inicio de la trama. Es una chica muy inteligente que tiene habilidad para la escritura, algo que se ve reflejado en cada capitulo, donde ella anota con dedicación todas sus vivencias en su diario personal. Es una buena amiga y trata en la medida de mantener una sana relación entre sus allegados. Tiene como toda adolescente una percepción sobre el mundo que con el pasar del tiempo, va cambiando, haciendo que su personaje evolucione completamente al final de la serie.

Ginger tiene su circulo de amigos, compuesto por Macie, Dodie y Darren, principalmente. Con ellos ha compartido desde que era pequeña y ha desarrollado una amistad que trata de mantener al entrar en la secundaria. Ya que cada uno de sus amigos tiene una personalidad e intereses, muy distintos entre ellos, lo que desencadena en ocasiones que Ginger busque la manera de mediar para no verse forzada a tener que escoger entre alguno de ellos.

Ginger y sus amigas tienen que enfrentarse a los problemas típicos de las chicas de su edad: los cambios en el cuerpo, la popularidad, los enamoramientos, así como la búsqueda de su propia identidad. Es interesante como a través de distintos personajes se refleja como se vive el "drama adolescente", como por ejemplo, Darren, el amigo de Ginger quien tiene frenos y una contextura delgada, tiene que luchar con el estigma de tener un hermano atlético y popular, Macie, (la más inocente de las amigas de Ginger), suele tener su modo de ver las cosas, interesándose muy poco por lo que piensen los demás, mientras que Dodie, tiene la mentalidad de que ser popular es lo más importante, hasta el punto de volverse su objetivo principal.

Ginger and her friends have to face the typical problems of girls their age: changes in the body, popularity, crushes, as well as the search for their own identity. It is interesting how the "teenage drama" is reflected through different characters. For example, Darren, Ginger's friend who has braces and a slim build, has to fight the stigma of having an athletic and popular brother. , Macie, (the most innocent of Ginger's friends), usually has her way of seeing things, taking very little interest in what others think, while Dodie, has the mentality that being popular is the most important thing, until the point of becoming your main objective.

Y es que la gran variedad de personajes en el universo de Ginger es lo que nos ofrece un suculento banquete de percepciones y situaciones, muy acordes a la vida diaria. Porque cada personaje tiene un papel importante en la trama, lo cual se deja ver a lo largo de las episodios. La increíble cantidad de eventos hacen que la serie cumpla con todo lo que tiene que tener un drama, rematados con lecciones de vida que te hacen reflexionar tras ver cada capitulo.

Uno de sus puntos fuertes a mi parecer es el intro, una hermosa melodìa "I'm in Between" interpretada por la grandiosa Macy Gray.

Cabe mencionar que As Told by Ginger tiene un episodio piloto, en el que, varios de los personajes tienen una apariencia diferente, pero donde se mantiene esa introspectiva al mundo adolescente.
