Three films with something in common "discomfort and tension"

I wanted to get out of my comfort status and go a little bit into movies that I don't usually watch because I feel they are too sexual and not very flashy, since I like more those movies that leave you with a good message or cinematic experience, but well I also consider myself a person who likes diversity in terms of many things, and when it comes to seeing something new I don't close myself to the possibility of doing it.

Lately I have taken as a habit, after a day of work, to rest watching a movie to have material to share my reviews with you, but the truth is that in the case of today, I thought three times before deciding whether to review these movies that for me were interesting, undesirable, tense, boring, uncomfortable and a little bit of everything, I really do not know how to explain the reason why I felt all these things in these movies, however, I would not recommend you to see them, although if you are curious and open, you can do it.

Loev, is a movie that we could say that it is based on real facts, due to the real situation that exists in India regarding Homophobia and the laws that apply to homosexual behavior. One of the things we should know about this movie is that its real name is "love" giving allusion to love as such, the problem lies in the same subject, protect perhaps that could be taken in a negative perspective that the cover is about two men who love each other, it is a controversy, so they decided to simply change the order of the letters.

Another curious thing about this movie is that one of the main characters passed away before it was released, which made it even more special for those involved in this homosexual love story. But one of the most striking things is that not everyone who was working on this film knew what it was really going to be, that is, there were scenes that part of the production did not even know it was going to happen, only the director in such a case, and possibly the main actors, this due to protect as much as possible the material planned to record, as they had to be careful not to draw attention and to achieve the goal, to have all the complete scenes of the film.

As for the plot, we see that at the beginning there is a homosexual couple a little dysfunctional as it is a young couple, while one is organized, the other is rebellious and does not like responsibilities. After that we are shown a trip made between "friends" Jai (a businessman) and his best friend Sahil for 48 hours of business stay. As far as we can see these two have something in common, they like each other, but Jai apparently had a love affair with a woman and possibly there is a child involved, since in a scene of the trip it is implied that. That is, Jai is still in the closet about his sexuality, perhaps unsure of what he really feels and likes, unlike his friend Sahil who already has a life as a couple with another man.

The whole trip was very uncomfortable for me, because there were frictions between both of them without getting to anything, basically because neither of them was sure of what they wanted to do, maybe because they didn't want to hurt the other. What I should point out is that there was a very significant scene in the mountains in which both realize that they love each other, but later there is also a very strong scene, practically a rape, something that made me really question what the director wanted with that scene, that is, I felt frustrated and somewhat disappointed, especially by the fact that this was shown in a crude and sudden way, since both are homosexuals, and it is uncommon to see this. But the ending is even more bitter because they came to absolutely nothing, Jai went back to his country, and Sahil was left with his toxic dysfunctional relationship. I am left with an unanswered question: What did the director want with this controversial film?

On the other hand we have "The Hunter", which was even more controversial to me when it was a film that showed abuse in terms of homosexual exploitation.

As a plot we have a young man who is alone at home since his parents went on vacation, so he sees the opportunity to explore his sexuality like any other teenager. What is made clear is that the protagonist knew and accepted his sexual condition, so his actions were not a struggle to define himself as a person, something we rarely see in movies, because it basically seems the same cliché, coming out of the closet, social acceptance among all those issues we always see in gay movies or series.

In the course the young man meets another boy a little older than him, with whom he shares some moments even invites him to his house where they play video games, eat, play in the pool and even have sex, that is, it was not just a simple sexual date, we could say that the young man was also exploring his feelings before this guy.

Although not much time passes when we begin to feel that something strange is happening, and it is when the "Monkey" (the older boy) asks "Ezequiel" (the fifteen year old) to accompany him on a trip with a close relative to spend a "different" day, which is really strange since it was an old house, with less recreational activities than Ezequiel's own house, but we see that he agrees and things happen that leave much to think about.

There was a lot of mystery in this film, until at one point it is discovered that it is about the sexual exploitation of minors. Ezequiel was being extorted just as "The Monkey" was.

The tragic thing about this story is the fact that it deals with kids between 14 years old or a little older, that is, as a viewer I was shocked, it is not normal for me to see movies about these issues and that they were developed in such a way. But one thing I took into account, is that this is a raw truth, it happens in the real world, and in a way it is good that it is shown in the cinema, to have a little awareness, because it is not only the abuse as such but also to avoid the consequences after the abuse, which if we see in this film, it is implied that in the end Ezekiel commits suicide once he is between a rock and a hard place by having to recruit a minor to also be exploited.

Beach rats is even worse as a movie, I must say that it was a total disaster for me, it is not possible to see if the protagonist has a real trauma due to the illness and death of his father or that it is simply that he did not really accept himself as he is. What we do see is the life of a totally uncontrolled young man, who spends his days smoking, taking drugs and looking for excuses to feel heterosexual when at night he takes the opportunity to venture into the reality of his sexual desires.

The family is dysfunctional, a wife who suffers from the death of her husband due to cancer, a daughter who in itself does not follow any moral normal since she has an affair with a young man of contemporary age, and as I have already done. mentioned the life of the boy who does not even work, he only lives stealing his father's pills to get high, even there comes a time when he begins to pawn things of value from his mother to get money and go to places to party and mainly get high.

The boy does whatever it takes with the bad influence of his friends to get drugs, even putting a person's life at risk, which is not very clear if he drowned or survived and left where they left him after stealing drugs, in Finally, it seems like a typical movie where the protagonist does not accept himself, he tries to have a heterosexual life, but in addition to that they added drugs, just a bad movie to my perspective.
