A Whisker Away (review)

I don't remember if I was recommended to watch this animated movie or if it caught my attention and I added it to my list to watch. Anyway, I have taken some time off and decided to watch it without any expectations, just to pass the time.

No recuerdo si fue que me recomendaron ver esta película animada o si me llamó la atención y lo agregue a mi lista por ver. De todas maneras me he tomado un tiempo de descanso, y decidí mirarla sin ninguna expectativa, solo por pasar el tiempo.

I must say that I liked it a lot, absolutely everything. I think the story is very creative, I'm not a cat lover, however, if they had done the same deal but with dogs, I don't think I would have enjoyed it as much.

Debo decir que me gusto mucho, absolutamente todo. Creo que la historia es muy creativa, no soy amante de los gatos, sin embargo si hubiesen hecho la misma trata pero con perros, no creo que lo hubiese disfrutado tanto.

It seems that fate was on the side of these two young people, but at the same time, it played against them. Especially because of the various personal problems they each have.

Parece que el destino estaba de parte de estos dos jóvenes, pero a su vez, jugaba en contra de ellos. Sobre todo por los diversos problemas personales que tienen cada uno.

On the one hand, he has a degree of insecurity and shows himself to be someone who does not recognize himself and does not recognize others for fear perhaps of loss, being that he lost his pet and it is something that has depressed him a bit.

Por un lado él tiene un grado de inseguridad, y muestra ser alguien que no se reconoce a sí mismo ni que tampoco reconoce a los demás por temor tal vez a la pérdida, siendo que perdió a su mascota y es algo que le ha deprimido un poco.

On the other hand, she is quite the opposite, a girl who despite facing the separation of her parents and trying to assimilate the love and attention of a stepmother, is involved in an affair for love in an eloquent and charismatic way, a particular characteristic of her that makes her recognized at school as the "weird or crazy".

Por otro lado, es todo lo contrario, una chica que a pesar de enfrentar la separación de sus padres e intentar asimilar el amor y atención de una madrastra, se ve envuelta en una aventura por amor de una forma elocuente y carismática, una característica particular de ella que la hace reconocida en la escuela como la "rara o loca".

One of the things they both share is playing tough despite all the circumstances of their lives. And that is what makes destiny bring them together. Of course, she is a cat, and he in his normal body. There comes a point where one depends on the other until the truth is discovered, which despite being astonishing, is believable for both, and they fight so that their lives are not extinguished by the trap of a mafia cat.

Una de las cosas que comparten ambos es hacerse los fuertes a pesar de todas las circunstancias de sus vidas. Y eso mismo es lo que hace que el destino les junte. Claro está, ella como una gata, y él en su cuerpo normal. Llega un punto en que uno depende del otro, hasta que se descubre la verdad, que a pesar de ser asombrosa, es creíble para ambos, y luchan para que sus vidas no se vea extinguida por la trampa de un gato mafioso.

One of the amazing things about this animated film, is each of the messages they convey, from the love of a cat for its owner, as well as the love of a stepmother for her stepdaughter. I think that's the central point of it all, or rather what caught my attention.

Una de las cosas increíbles de esta película animada, es cada uno de los mensajes que transmiten, desde el amor de un gato por su dueña, así como el amor de una madrastra por su hijastra. Creo que es el punto central de todo esto, o más bien lo que me ha llamado la atención.

Another thing that I liked a lot is the sincerity of the young woman, that despite receiving thousands of taunts, she never stopped being who she was, she always fought for her ideals and her tastes, especially to try to make others feel good.

Otra de las cosas que me gusto mucho es la sinceridad de la joven, que a pesar de recibir miles de burlas, ella nunca dejó de ser quien era, siempre luchó por sus ideales y sus gustos, sobre todo para intentar hacer sentir bien a los demás.

The world of cats is fascinating, very colorful, full of different lights, and it's funny that they even have their own bar. I think they did a great job with the details of the big tree that allows you to get the life of the humans who make pacts with the cats.

El mundo de los gatos es fascinante, muy colorido lleno de diferentes luces, y es gracioso que hasta tengan su propio bar. Creo que hicieron un estupendo trabajo con los detalles del gran árbol que permite obtener la vida de los humanos que hacen pactos con los gatos.

And lastly, I can't help but think about how I felt watching this animated movie, given that they emphasize in a way depression, mourning, or simple loss. But it highlights that in life there is always someone or a pet that can make you smile again and thus be who you are full.

Y por último no puedo dejar de pensar en lo que sentí al ver esta película animada, dado que hacen énfasis de cierto modo en la depresión, en el luto, o en la simple pérdida. Pero destaca que en la vida siempre hay alguien, o una mascota que te puede hacer sonreír de nuevo y de esa forma ser quien eres plenamente.

So if you see any cat out there offering you a mask, think twice, lest you end up as a cat forever, and worse than that, be robbed of your seven lives.

Así que si ven algún gato por allí que les ofrece una mascara, piensenlo dos veces, no sea que terminen como un gato para siempre, y peor que eso, que te roben tus siete vidas.
