The Last Days of American Crime..."I wish it was the last day of bad movies"

Netflix released its second film based on a comic book this year where we can see... "The Last Days of American Crime"

Hi Hivers, today I bring you the review of a movie where criminals live their last days and will do their best to stay in the history of a nation.

The Last Days of American Crime

In the 90's I always wanted to be watching movies, I can say that I was addicted to video clubs, every weekend I went to several of these places that existed near my house to rent action and comedy movies no matter how famous these movies or the actors were, I think I saw a lot of material from movies considered "Class B", full of bad direction, script, characters and acting, some of them presented extreme violence and easy nudity that was not important for the plot, but in the end I always stayed watching them and even the multiple sequels, as time went by my tastes changed until I could focus on adequate material to watch and I even thought that this kind of movies I would not watch again until Netflix gave "green light" to a film that could only be released on the SIFY channel.

The Last Days of American Crime | Official Trailer

"The Last Days of American Crime" must be one of the worst movies I've ever seen, bad direction, editing, writing, acting, I think everything in this film is bad, no, sorry, it's not that I believe but I'm right in saying that everything in this film is bad, but you know what the worst part is? That is not entertaining, I've always read that phrase "It's so bad that you have to see it" But this time even that can not be said of this film because its history, characters and others do not contribute absolutely nothing to entertain and that the basis of having USA living their last days as a nation full of criminals and to become a nation of controlled who can not do or say anything in everything in the name of peace, is something that could even be used as a reference for the moments that are living in that country, but no, unfortunately this story is simple and boring.

When I was reviewing what other films have been made by the French director Olivier Megaton, I was surprised that from 2007 onwards I had seen his works, but none of them have surprised or pleased me, I think only "Colombiana" (2011) and "Taken 2" (2012), I was entertained enough, maybe in Colombiana I have better action scenes than the same Taken sequel, now if I talk about the one I liked the least before seeing his recent work, that was "Taken 3" (2015), I thought it was because of the repetitiveness of the series, But when I saw his performance in his last film I could see that he is part of the problem of the lack of success in his films, first the action scenes and the robberies that should be something that could make you notice in this type of film is what fails in an impressive way, there is nothing striking in any of those scenes, they are boring, simple, slow and predictable, I think this time the unbridled use of blood could be what is necessary to create impact, but none of that serves and even becomes annoying.

Before talking about the story created by Karl Gajdusek based on the comic book created by Rick Remender and Greg Tocchini, I would have liked to see that material before not only talking about the script but the whole film, but actually I find it hard to believe (and even more when I read good reviews of the comic book) that the work of these artists is as bad as the one we see in this film, from the narration of two of the main characters to the vision of others like for example the policeman William Sawyer played by Sharlto Copley, is the worst thing there is, there is no sympathy, connection with this character, I don't understand what the importance is, even worse they give him scenes to know or try to know what his reason is in this story and in the end they could have put anyone in their final scenes and that was subtracted the time they gave him and thus make a more compact and fast film. In this film there are scenes that I find difficult to believe were written in a script, to be specific, it's a scene where the characters of Kevin Cash, Graham Bricke and Rossi Dumois participate, it's badly acted and directed, if the dialogues weren't improvised, Then I can only say that it is what I have seen, I hope that everything that happens in that part was something where the actors were given a chance to do something completely ridiculous and exaggerated because if not I hope that more never give a future work to this writer.

Many times actors can do their best to save a film, their performances can be recognized and so their work will not be tarnished by working on bad projects and I think that sometimes that makes them even gain respect in the eyes of the press and public, but this time nothing like that happens, nobody stands out in this film and it even seems that there is competition on who is the worst actor, everyone is boring. Edgar Ramirez as an antihero is boring, he has no presence as someone to be feared and respected, Michael Pitt is extremely exaggerated and it bothers me because since his appearance in this film it seems that he is the one who can save it , but precisely that badly acted scene I described above is what I always remember from this film and finally Anna Brewster, must be one of the worst characters written and acted, even the narration that makes us this character is bad, there is really no one who does a good job.

Very few defenses I could read about this film before its release, of those I could see were from people who related what they saw in the trailer with the situation of the protests in the U.S., the other group is from Venezuelans (myself included) who are always watching the work of Édgar Ramírez, I really think he is a good actor, but just because he is Venezuelan doesn't mean I accept his performance in this film, because I think he can do a better job or at least make better decisions in future projects, Unfortunately this time was not the best thing he could do despite having a bad script and direction, I think nothing served in this film and it's a pity because I think we could do a better job with this story, perhaps less duration, more focused on the scenes of theft or even be more dramatic scenes of betrayal and less show so many unimportant enemies to overcome, should make better action scenes and why not, make a better casting. The surprising thing is that despite having bad reviews, "The Last Days of American Crime" was in the first ranking of visits in Netflix, I imagine that people in this time do not care what to see or what entertains them.

Hehe, you are not the only one to feel bad about this movie... I guess we all did. Really a terrible movie, and I have a hard time really finding any positives at all! And to be honest, I knew it was supposed to be bad before I started. As a result, I adjusted my expectations for them to be really low... but still, it wasn't enough. It was bad, no matter how low my expectations were.

I had few expectations and as it happened to you, I think that made me even more disappointed, it must be the least entertaining film in history.

I advise you to stay away from this movie forever, don't let the many reviews you may find encourage you to check if they are right, just believe everything they say.
