The reboot of an animated series released in the 80's that is now full of inclusion and diversity... "She-Ra and the Princesses of Power"

Hi Hivers, today I bring you a review of a Netflix cartoon series based on the popular spin-off released in 1985 and which was called "She-Ra: Princess of Power".

She-Ra and the Princesses of Power

In the 80's my life as a child was spent playing and watching TV, I could be on the streets playing with my friends, but my mother knew what shows I liked to watch and always called me to go home and enjoy them, one of those shows was "He-Man" and I can say that is the first hero made in America (over Superman, Batman and other heroes) which I could admire,at Christmas I always asked for this character's toys to play with my friends because He-Man was the best, but much later the series of this character's twin sister, "She-Ra ", was released, which had a story very similar to that of her brother, a princess who by raising a sword and saying the words "For the honor of Grayskull! I am She-Ra!", Princess Adora was transformed into the heroine who fought against the villain "Hordak" and his henchmen, despite the similarity of the history of both series, I never felt this desire to see this new series as I did with He-Man, the cause could be that the series was starring a woman, it could be that I was no longer attracted to see such series because my preferences were for G.I. Joe, ThunderCats, Silverhawks and many other anime, it could be that all that made me lose the desire to continue watching the adventures of these characters from "Eternia " and "Etheria ", but when I heard about the future premiere of the new He-Man series in Netflix, I decided to watch the five seasons of this new series even though it was not originally one of my favorites.

Season 1 Trailer | SHE-RA AND THE PRINCESSES OF POWER

"She-Ra and the Princesses of Power" is one of the best series I've seen in the last five years, its scriptwriter who also serves as executive producer, Noelle Stevenson, did an excellent job creating a story of an already existing heroine and not only of her but of a large number of characters that were previously very secondary and even of a planet because if there is something to say that is one of the best things you see in this story, it is that everyone has an important role.

Swift Wind, Glimmer, Bow and She-Ra

In 1985 when She-Ra: Princess of Power, we could see what for us was the first animated action series led by a female character, immediately many of the parents and children thought that this series was focused for the child female audience, now as an adult I think this series was taken very lightly and unfortunately I must use this phrase to defend how it was defined for many with "It was a different time" and that's not right because this series had action and good characters but as I said before, growing up and having other things to do along with the "She-Ra is for Girls" thing made him lose interest, but while watching this new version, I could find that this new series of "She-Ra" has everything that was missing from the 85' version and that was a real story to tell, a real development of all the characters and there is something that I thought was the best and that is that its story had a real continuity and it is not watching the same episode every day.

Catra and Hordak

But if there is something that defines this new story of this protector and hero, is the one of the inclusion and diversity, the inclusion we can see it from its title where She-Ra is not only called "Princess of Power", this nomination falls in all the princesses that appear in this history and this serves that from there as much the inclusion as the diversity accompanies this history, we see it in different characters and their skin color, we see it in their sexual preferences, We see it in his physique which is one of the first things I saw that differed from the original series and I found very important because the design of each of his characters is also a form of inclusion, the other important thing is the real message of friendship, respect, trust and fellowship, this is a very important theme for this series and of course to deal with current issues already described and that surely was impossible to see in another era.

The Princess of Power

In the five seasons of this series we see how the values of friendship and love are promoted, how to express them, how to overcome those fears of saying what you can really feel, how to respect yourself and even the best use of words and friendship to overcome traumatic relationships, all this in a story full of adventures, battles and great humor, Each of its episodes is important and well written and very well acted, personally I preferred to see this series in its original audio and maybe when you have the desire to see it again, I will do it in the Latin audio (I am from Venezuela), it must be said that diversity and inclusion is also used in the actors that give voice to the many good characters of this series.

Entrapta and Scorpia, my favourite characters

Very rarely do you see any joy or satisfaction when a series comes to an end and although I wanted to see more of the history of Adora, Glimer, Bow, Catra and their friends, I must say that my expectations with this series were exceeded, the way it is written is perfect, the vision of each character is perfect for example, Adora/She-Ra of the 85' version, was unbreakable, both are strong and when she has the power of She-Ra she was unstoppable, on the other hand in this new version she is not unstoppable but neither is she weak, on the contrary, Adora/She-Ra is strong, fast and intelligent, but she also shows vulnerability, she can be defeated and that makes her a better hero because she can go back and show that she has the power to do it and better is that the power is in her and not in an object, that's the message of this series (one of them actually), that's why I have a lot of appreciation for what they have done and it's perfect for this moment, for this generation is the quality that should be shown to children and adults and hopefully at some point I know of the request that many fans have to see at least one animated film of this series, which serves as a continuation, I hope to see more seasons, but if they make a film be sure that there I will be supporting this great story.
