Oxygen - Film Review [ESP/ENG]
Una mujer atrapada sin recordar quien en realidad es deberá encontrar respuestas en un tiempo corto antes que se termine el… “Oxígeno”
En el mundo del cine la originalidad para algunos es difícil de conseguir, para otros puede ser fácil de usar, tomar otras historias como referencia y hacerla suyas, tomar como base cosas que ya se han visto y de ahí hacer una historia nueva; es por eso que a pesar de que una historia pueda o no ser original siempre puede haber algo que la haga diferenciarse de la historia de la cual fue tomada como base y solo queda después ver si el trabajo realizado por quienes pertenezcan a ese proyecto fue el mejor o el peor, esto que acabo de escribir puede ser lo que define una gran número de películas tal como lo es está que fue estrenada a mediados del mes de mayo en Netflix.

In the world of movies originality for some is difficult to achieve, for others it can be easy to use, take other stories as a reference and make it their own, take as a basis things that have already been seen and from there make a new story; That is why even though a story may or may not be original there can always be something that makes it different from the story from which it was taken as a basis and then it only remains to see if the work done by those who belong to that project was the best or the worst, this that I just wrote may be what defines a large number of films such as this one that was released in mid-May on Netflix.
"Oxygene" es un thriller de ciencia ficción que nos relata la historia de una mujer que despierta dentro de una unidad médica con la alarma que dentro de esta unidad se está quedando sin oxígeno, pero lo peor es que está mujer quien no recuerda su nombre, ni cómo llegó ahí está completamente atrapada, solo tiene de acompañante a una avanzada Inteligencia Artificial llamada "M.I.L.O." quien podrá darle lo necesario para responder a las preguntas ¿Quién es? ¿Cómo llegó ahí? y la más importante ¿Cómo escapar? El tiempo es su gran enemigo y tal vez recuperar la memoria pueda ser su máximo aliado.
"Oxygene" is a science fiction thriller that tells the story of a woman who wakes up inside a medical unit with the alarm that inside this unit is running out of oxygen, but the worst thing is that this woman who does not remember her name or how she got there is completely trapped, she only has as a companion an advanced Artificial Intelligence called "M.I.L.O." who can give her what she needs to answer the questions Who is she? How did she get there? and the most important, How to escape? Time is her great enemy and perhaps recovering her memory can be her greatest ally.
El director de este film, Alexandre Aja, que a pesar de tener un largo recorrido en el cine, está es la primera película que veo dirigida por él, seguramente pronto veré otra de sus producciones y podré comparar su trabajo actual con el anterior, pero volviendo a su último film, creo que hace un trabajo normal mostrando como una mujer va descubriendo entre sus recuerdos quien es, creo que es ese el trabajo que quería realizar porque la mayor parte de esta película es sobre una toma del rostro de una mujer explorando diferentes sentimientos, situaciones, principalmente el desespero de saber quién en realidad ella es; existe otros momentos en dónde podemos ver muy buenas tomas en diferentes situaciones y creo que justamente el punto más alto es cuando podemos ver lo que supuestamente es la vida de esta mujer atrapada, son imágenes muy bien hechas en dónde creo que se resalta muy bien el hecho de ser posibles recuerdos.
Anteriormente hablé sobre la originalidad en el cine, esto es un tema recurrente y en dónde cada vez podemos caer en comparar films en dónde justamente se haya visto escenas, personajes, situaciones que hemos visto en alguna otra historia, creo que esto le ocurrió al guionista Christie LeBlanc, influenciado por algún otro film o hasta serie en dónde podemos ver a alguien atrapado en un estrecho lugar en dónde posiblemente sus pensamientos y recuerdos puedan ser aliados y enemigos; ahora en "Oxygene" hay una gran parte sobre eso, una persona atrapada, no recuerda quien es, ni cómo llegó ahí, le queda poco tiempo de vida y eso de alguna forma la hace luchar para escapar y para reencontrarse con lo que ella era o es, por momentos me pareció extraño los motivos de este personaje, pero dejando atrás el hecho de que su historia para nada es original y con las diferentes revelaciones, pude entender de qué los motivos de lucha de este personaje van cambiando mientras sus recuerdos la hacen encontrar la verdad, este es algo que me gustó del guion hecho por LeBlanc, que aunque no es genial, creo que es muy adecuado para esta historia.
The director of this film, Alexandre Aja, who despite having a long career in cinema, this is the first film I see directed by him, surely soon I will see another of his productions and I can compare his current work with the previous one, but returning to his latest film, I think he does a normal job showing how a woman is discovering among her memories who she is, I think this is the work he wanted to do because most of this film is about a shot of the face of a woman exploring different feelings, situations, mainly the despair of knowing who she really is; there are other moments where we can see very good shots in different situations and I think the highest point is when we can see what is supposed to be the life of this trapped woman, they are very well done images where I think the fact of being possible memories is highlighted very well.
Earlier I talked about originality in film, this is a recurring theme and where every time we can fall into comparing films where just have seen scenes, characters, situations that we have seen in some other story, I think this happened to the screenwriter Christie LeBlanc, influenced by some other film or even series where we can see someone trapped in a narrow place where possibly their thoughts and memories can be allies and enemies; now in "Oxygene" there is a big part about that, a trapped person, she doesn't remember who she is, nor how she got there, she has little time left to live and that somehow makes her fight to escape and to find again what she was or is, at times it seemed strange to me the motives of this character, but leaving behind the fact that her story is not original at all and with the different revelations, I could understand why the motives of this character are changing while her memories make her find the truth, this is something I liked about the script made by LeBlanc, although it is not great, I think it is very suitable for this story.
Mélanie Laurent actriz que este film es completamente suyo, puedo decir que su interpretación es algo que me gustó del film, creo que al interpretar a alguien encerrado en una unidad médica de alta tecnología, puede al momento ser o no dramático y creo que en este film demuestran que por un momento no lo es, no quiero comparar, pero si han visto "Kill Bill Vol.2" cuando el personaje de "La Novia" está enterrada viva, existe el desespero, pero yo lo veo como algo breve porque el personaje sabe qué hacer, en esta historia ocurre lo mismo, la protagonista a pesar de su pérdida de memoria, ella sabe qué hacer y tal vez eso le quite, suspenso o el miedo, ahora sí la actuación de Laurent les parece simple, creo que no lo es, para mí su trabajo es bueno, una mujer fuerte, valiente, que no le importa sentir dolor solo para saber la verdad y que en cada momento nos demuestra que es alguien muy inteligente y decidida, pero también debo decir que me fuera gustado más ver el terror o algo más de misterio en su personaje y en su actuación, pero como ya dije esto no es culpa de ella o no sé si decir la palabra culpa sea adecuada, creo que su actuación fue adecuada por cómo está hecho el guion del film.
Mélanie Laurent actress that this film is completely hers, I can say that her interpretation is something that I liked about the film, I think that when playing someone locked in a high tech medical unit, it can at the moment be dramatic or not and I think that in this film they show that for a moment it is not, I don't want to compare, but if you have seen "Kill Bill Vol.2 " when the character of "The Bride" is buried alive, there is despair, but I see it as something brief because the character knows what to do, in this story the same thing happens, the protagonist despite her memory loss, she knows what to do and maybe that takes away, suspense or fear, now if the performance of Laurent seems simple to you, I think it is not, for me her work is good, a strong, brave woman, who doesn't mind feeling pain just to know the truth and that in every moment she shows us that she is someone very intelligent and determined, but I must also say that I would have liked to see more terror or something more of mystery in her character and in her performance, but as I said this is not her fault or I don't know if saying the word fault is adequate, I think her performance was adequate for how the script of the film is made.
Oxygene no es la mejor película que he visto este año, tampoco es muy original y en algún momento es predecible, pero no es mala película, me entretuvo su historia, el cambio de motivos de lucha de su protagonista, esos giros en la historia que a pesar de que en otros films se haya visto, en esta funcionó, aunque puede ser de que haya una desconexión en como vemos a su personaje principal después de saber quién en realidad es, pero creo que tal como actúa en esas escenas finales es lo que pedía esa situación, puedo hasta decir que su historia tiene cosas que suceden en la actualidad no hablo de los grandes temas que muestra está películas sino en cosas simples que podemos vivir tal como por ejemplo en decisiones que se deben tomar en pareja, cuando se vive con otra persona (para explicarme puedo decir esto sin revelar mucho para quien no haya visto el film) y justamente eso lo entiendo de este personaje; no tenía muchas expectativas, no vi el tráiler, no tenía conocimiento pleno de su sinopsis, solo lo básico y creo que eso hizo que estuviera entretenido y disfrutará de muchas cosas en esta historia, espero que para el que no la haya visto pueda hacerlo y crear su propia opinión de este film que no busca inventar nada, pero creo que tampoco busca ser el mejor.
Oxygene is not the best movie I have seen this year, it is not very original and at some point it is predictable, but it is not a bad movie, I was entertained by its story, the change of motives of the main character, those twists in the story that even though in other films it has been seen, in this one it worked, although it may be that there is a disconnect in how we see the main character after knowing who he really is, but I think that the way he acts in those final scenes is what that situation asked for, I can even say that his story has things that happen nowadays, I'm not talking about the big issues that these movies show but simple things that we can live such as decisions that must be taken in a couple, when you live with another person (to explain myself I can say this without revealing much for those who have not seen the film) and that's exactly what I understand about this character; I did not have many expectations, I did not see the trailer, I did not have full knowledge of its synopsis, only the basics and I think that made me entertained and enjoy many things in this story, I hope that for those who have not seen it can do it and create their own opinion of this film that does not seek to invent anything, but I think it does not seek to be the best.

Tienes que ver las primeras de Alexandre Aja. Especialmente Alta Tensión, esa la hizo en su país, Francia. Brutal! y no puede ser que no has visto el remake que dirigió de The Hills Have Eyes. Cuando las veas, entenderás porque digo que el cineasta se dulcificado demasiado. El era parte de lo que llamaron la nueva ola de terror extremo francés.
La actuación de Laurent es muy buena y como dices, no es la mejor película, no pretende serlo, tampoco la peor.Funciona como entretenimiento.
En twitter citaste un agujero de guion, aunque yo no lo veo de esa forma, creo que las escenas de las ratas fueron colocadas con el propósito de hacer dudar al personaje y al espectador sobre si era alucinación o era real. Y los flashback de ella experimentando con ratas, para darle sentido a una de las revelaciones finales.

No creo, lo que si se le puede marcar es que tiene un ritmo cambisnte y casi predecible, del resto es normal.
En Twitter lo que escribí fue que si creen que existe un plot hole, que piensen en las ratas y tú me das la razón,hablo de que en una escena de las llamadas es imposible que exista o hay un alto porcentaje de que no exista y es solamente parte de una alucinación de la protagonista, no dije que exista un plot hole.

Como lo dije en mi reseña, no es de todo un thriller de ficción, quedó algo corto. La actriz hace un buen trabajo, pero la película es predecible y eso le quita encanto. Pero bueno podría pasar rato aquí hablando de la película, pero no quiero llenar esto de datos que le pueden joder la trama a otro Cinéfilo.
Para mí sirve porque es lo que se quería contar en este film, tal vez por la existencia de tantas historia nos haga pensar de que este film deba seguir un mismo camino y no es así, creo que eso es lo que afecte en alguno y piensen que es mala.
No es mala por pensar que sigue un mismo camino, para mi es mala porque no logra sorprenderme en lo absoluto.
Joder si el giro hubiera sido que en realidad estaba encerrada en su sótano por X motivo de seguro me hubiera volado la cabeza, pero era predecible y eso le quito el encanto.
No, si fuera estado encerrada en una nevera, ahí si, por qué me fuera sorprendido y reído, pero no, si enterrada, en un sótano, fuera igual que las demás y ahí fuera sido muy predecible, digo que está lo es porque en saber una información imaginé quién en realidad es y tenía la razón, pero si, el giro es algo que me gustó y mucho porque me sorprendió.

Esta peli estuvo entretenida aunque la sorpresa de donde está ella realmente no me sorprendió mucho. Tampoco me gustó todo lo que ella y el asistente inteligente se tardaron en darse cuenta de donde podían sacar más oxígeno. Me parece que era obvio de donde podían sacarlo dadas las circunstances y el robot asistente debería haberse dando cuenta por sí solo. Pero a pesar de sus defectos, me pareció buena y vale la pena verla.
A mí me sorprendió porque está fuera de lo normal, lo que si no me gustó fue que tiene muchas cosas parecidas por ejemplo a Interestelar, ahí sentí que todo perdió un poco de interés, con respecto a la relación entre M.I.L.O y Liz, creo que me fuera gustado que en un momento se hiciera más agresiva, pero creo que la historia no iba por ese lado; la película tiene fallos, pero yo la vi sin ningún problema, me entretuvo porque me gustó los motivos de Liz para sobrevivir, hablo del cambio de como escapar a como quedarse.
