Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga..."Never give up your dreams"

Will Ferrell and Rachel McAdams star in a story where a couple must fight against jokes and their own dreams to get the real prize... "Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga"

Hi Hivers, today I bring you the review of the new original comedy by Netflix focused on the great and famous singing competition that paralyzes all Europe.

Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga

The "Eurovision Song Contest" is an annual international singing competition where different singers represent their countries with an original song. The winner of this competition can have a career in show business as has happened with other winners such as ABBA and Celine Dion. In spite of the great fame that this competition has, I have never seen any show of this competition because I don't like this type of programs, but this doesn't mean that I don't know about their fame because in the social networks I see that many people support their countries or singers of their preference thanks to their presentations.

EUROVISION SONG CONTEST: The Story Of Fire Saga | Official Trailer

"Eurovision Song Contest:The Story of Fire Saga" is the first comedy film made by Netflix that I have seen, this is not because I am a follower of Will Ferrell and much less because I am a follower of the competition that this story is about, it could be because Rachel McAdams appears who has made funny comedies, but more than anything I have seen this film because many people have spoken very well of it and I wanted to give her the opportunity to see if it was true or not, To be very honest, "The Story of Fire Saga", is not the funniest movie I've seen, it has specific moments regarding when it has made me laugh, one is with a tragedy, the other is physical and from there there is no more, there is nothing that stands out and that is a movie starring Ferrell, which can be completely exaggerated in its performance.

The direction of David Dobkin and the cinematography of Danny Cohen, is very good, the images of the village where the first part of the film takes place are excellent and not only that, but those that follow at the time of the competition in Scotland are also excellent, if this serves to promote Iceland and "Eurovision" then an excellent job has been done, But it's not only in those big shots that you can see the good eye of these two people, in closed shots for example the one that we see the character of McAdams, in front of his piano in his room, that one I liked very much, it's simple but calm and expresses a great moment of the character.

The script created by Andrew Steele and Will Ferrell, I would like to say that it is good, but I think there is a real connection (in my part) is from the end of the second act onwards, I celebrate that it is not a parody or mockery of this contest or for people who like to see it, the tribute is well written by its creators maintaining a respect, focuses on those contestants who seem to have little to lose and a lot to win, that no one believes they will even be in the final, but they also create a romantic story that is somewhat repetitive and could even work if the characters were brothers, something they always joke about during the course of the film.

What I liked the least was just Will Ferrell, this must be the most "Anti-Ferrell" film I've seen or it's just that his kind of acting is a little boring, I'm not a big fan of this actor, but the films where he has worked as Old School (2003), Step Brothers (2008) and Get Hard (2015), are comedies that I always like to see, but in this film his character and acting, is not funny and even I think his image does not favor him is next to someone like Rachel McAdams, who if he does an excellent job in being the girl that everyone could fall in love, but decides to be next to someone who we think is not right, his character is sweet, funny and very talented and I like it is that from the second act onwards get the lead in this story but always appears Ferrell and try to ruin what we are seeing.

Fire Saga

Definitely this movie is for fans of this competition, as I said before it was difficult for me to connect with this story because I do not like this kind of shows, but I had to relate it to what I live in international football tournaments where I always support the one that nobody thinks can win, but I could also remember what I always read on social networks every time this competition happens and those are mockeries, rejection, criticism, praises and celebrations, I like that it shows what the competitor lives in that type of show, that it shows the competition and the camaraderie that there is between the contestants and there is an aspect that I have found very well done and that is the music, the production of making the musical presentations that each actor does is very well done and I imagine that each for the fan of this contest will find pleasing that even the type of songs has been respected.

This is not the best film, nor the funniest one and if you think you will see a classic performance by Farrell, I must say that you will have to wait for a next film, hopefully he will continue to exploit that writer's role, but in the future, this actor and now scriptwriter will decide that another actor will be the protagonist of his next project. My final advice is that if you're a fan of these contests you'll like it, if not then find out what to focus on with this story so you can enjoy it.

I think I'll sleep on this one! I've read some reviews that also state that this is more of an homage to the contest and since I'm not unfamiliar but not a fan of it, I don't think I'll be too wooed by it.
However, I think it sounds nice enough to be an afternoon film, as if it were a movie made for TV.

Have a nice day!

I don't like singing contests either, I saw this movie because as I said in the post there were many people who said it was very funny and I think they are wrong, it is not as funny as many people say and if there is nothing to see and only this possibility then you can see it but for sure before the first hour you stop seeing it, it happened to me but I decided to finish it.

Although I haven't seen this movie yet, I saw the trailer and found it very interesting. The cast is very good.

The cast is eye-catching, but only Rachel McAdams and Dan Stevens do an excellent job, but to be honest if you are a fan of these types of contests you will surely enjoy this movie, if not a fan of singing contests you may not like it very much.
