Andor - Episode Review [ESP/ENG]

A pesar de que "Rogue One" tuvo como protagonista principal la historia de "Jyn Erso", su necesidad por rescatar a su padre y completar una importante misión para la resistencia; no había duda que los demás personajes que la acompañaron en tan valiente misión merecían tener la oportunidad de desarrollar sus propias historias que los llevaron a ese importante momento en la historia de Star Wars; uno de esos personajes era "Cassian Andor" un espía, asesino y saboteador, que no le importaba nada, ni nadie porque había un objetivo que lograr y ese era el poner fin al reinando de terror el cual el universo era víctima por parte del imperio galáctico. La historia de "Cassian" en ese muy buen film era más que nada sobre la redención del personaje, el momento de hacer algo impactante, algo que cambie todo y que por fin de una importante victoria a la causa de cuál él creía y apoyaba sin cuestionar ninguna orden que se le dio y es por eso que Lucasfilm y Disney aprovecharon la oportunidad de expandir, desarrollar el pasado de este personaje y darle más importancia de la que ya tiene y a la vez dando más forma a una rebelión que conocimos en la trilogía original, que se volvió a formar en las últimas secuelas y que vimos de manera breve su origen (de uno de sus líderes) en lo que fue el fallido film de Han Solo. En esta serie, la cual estará definida por aventuras, acción, espionaje, drama y seguramente sacrificio; veremos no solo que llevo a "Cassian Andor" a ser parte del grupo Rogue One; conoceremos su origen y sus motivos por el cual se hizo parte de la rebelión; en esta historia veremos como se hizo un nombre en la rebelión transformándose en un enemigo letal del imperio.

Although "Rogue One" had as its main protagonist the story of "Jyn Erso", her need to rescue her father and complete an important mission for the resistance; there was no doubt that the other characters who accompanied her on such a brave mission deserved to have the opportunity to develop their own stories that led them to that important moment in the history of Star Wars; One of those characters was "Cassian Andor " a spy, assassin and saboteur, who did not care about anything or anyone because there was a goal to achieve and that was to put an end to the reign of terror which the universe was victim of the galactic empire. The story of "Cassian" in that very good film was more than anything about the redemption of the character, the moment to do something shocking, something that changes everything and that finally gives an important victory to the cause of which he believed and supported without questioning any order that was given to him and that is why Lucasfilm and Disney took the opportunity to expand, develop the past of this character and give him more importance than he already has and at the same time giving more shape to a rebellion that we met in the original trilogy, which was re-formed in the last sequels and that we saw briefly its origin (of one of its leaders) in what was the failed Han Solo film. In this series, which will be defined by adventure, action, espionage, drama and surely sacrifice; we will see not only what led "Cassian Andor" to be part of the Rogue One group; we will know his origin and his reasons why he became part of the rebellion; in this story we will see how he made a name for himself in the rebellion by becoming a lethal enemy of the empire.

El pasado miércoles se estrenó los tres primeros episodios de lo que es la primera temporada de "Andor" que está compuesta por 12 episodios en sí; me pareció genial la decisión del estrenar estos tres episodios porque son una gran introducción al personaje principal, el cual hace referencia a su pasado, presente y parte de su futuro; asienta las bases de la historia que se desarrolla en esta primera temporada mostrando otras facetas del imperio y su dominio en la galaxia, con el uso de otras fuerzas militares para el control de planetas que están alejadas (no tanto como Tatooine) del control del imperio, pero aparte de eso lo interesante es el pasado del personaje principal de esta historia y como se relaciona con la historia de la comunidad que representa el actor quien lo interpreta en el mundo de Star Wars; es imposible no relacionar la historia de este continente con los orígenes de Cassian, de dónde proviene, sus maneras de vivir, hablar y de como deben crear una nueva vida porque siempre habrá quien quiera imponer diferentes cosas explotando, robando lo que nos les pertenece; creo que esto es un tema recurrente en esta historia de un universo lejano, pero es la primera vez que se relaciona tan directamente con América como continente.

Last Wednesday was released the first three episodes of what is the first season of "Andor " which is composed of 12 episodes itself; I thought it was great the decision to release these three episodes because they are a great introduction to the main character, which refers to his past, present and part of his future; it lays the foundations of the story that develops in this first season showing other facets of the empire and its dominance in the galaxy, with the use of other military forces to control planets that are far away (not as far as Tatooine) from the control of the empire, but apart from that the interesting thing is the past of the main character of this story and how it relates to the history of the community that represents the actor who plays him in the world of Star Wars; it is impossible not to relate the history of this continent with the origins of Cassian, where he comes from, his ways of living, talking and how they must create a new life because there will always be those who want to impose different things exploiting, stealing what does not belong to them; I think this is a recurring theme in this story of a distant universe, but it is the first time that relates so directly to America as a continent.

Existe un tema que se ha vuelto importante más que nada por cómo se realizó o como fue la producción de la (por ahora) miniserie de "Obi-Wan Kenobi"; para mí es una de las grandes decepciones del año y uno de los factores que me hizo tener esa opinión fue el pobre uso del CGI; las escenografías son malas, muy malas y esto me hizo dudar de como se vería las diferentes escenografías en "Andor". Al momento de ver los tres episodios en los cuales la historia se divide en dos líneas temporales y en tres lugares diferentes, es claro que el tiempo de desarrollo de esta serie es mejor no solo que la de Obi-Wan, sino hasta mejor que la de The Mandalorian; a primer momento en el primer episodio creo que existe una influencia de lo que ha hecho el director Ridley Scott en diferentes films de ciencia-ficción; creo que para esta serie en algunas de las escenas como lo fue en Rogue One, el director de Alien y Blade Runner, mostró el camino en la representación de varios lugares en el espacio o en un mundo muy en el futuro, mundos con pocos privilegios y muchos peligros; con esto no quiero decir que se olvide de todo el diseño que acompaña a Star Wars en muchas otras producciones porque es imposible quitar esa imagen de western en diferentes lugares muy rurales y no hay duda de que se ha convertido en un tipo de marca que acompañará por siempre a este tipo de historias.

There is a topic that has become important more than anything else because of how the production of the (for now) "Obi-Wan Kenobi" miniseries was done or how it was produced; for me it is one of the great disappointments of the year and one of the factors that made me have that opinion was the poor use of CGI; the set designs are bad, very bad and this made me doubt how the different set designs in "Andor" would look like. At the moment of watching the three episodes in which the story is divided in two timelines and in three different places, it is clear that the development time of this series is better not only than Obi-Wan, but even better than The Mandalorian; at the first moment in the first episode I think there is an influence of what the director Ridley Scott has done in different sci-fi films; I think that for this series in some of the scenes as it was in Rogue One, the director of Alien and Blade Runner, showed the way in the representation of various places in space or in a world far in the future, worlds with few privileges and many dangers; with this I do not mean to forget all the design that accompanies Star Wars in many other productions because it is impossible to remove that image of western in different places very rural and there is no doubt that it has become a kind of brand that will accompany forever this kind of stories.

Me gusta ver cómo Diego Luna tenga la oportunidad de desarrollar lo que es "Cassian" antes de Rogue One; que lo convierte en el ser despiadado, sin sentir ataduras con nadie, pero con la necesidad de hacer algo útil por la causa que él cree, de ser un rebelde, de querer llevar la pelea a un lugar donde nadie está dispuesto a llevarla y de hacer un tipo de justicia sin la necesidad de ser considerado como un héroe, ni muchos menos de recibir medallas por sus misiones; eso es lo que me atrae de ver en este personaje aparte de ser una manera diferente de representar a los latinos en Star Wars, eso es especial y es algo que no puede dejar de admirar y tal vez sea el verdadero motivo de ver esta serie. Luna hace un buen trabajo en estos tres primeros episodios, me parece bien que no represente la fuerza, sino la astucia, determinación y por supuesto lo letal que puede ser; creo que eso es una clara diferencia con personajes como Solo y el mismo Luke y seguramente se le relacione más con Din Djarin, pero creo que al mostrar su rostro en las diferentes cosas que deberá hacer, eso seguramente será lo que diferencie al Mandalorian y Cassian. Me gustan los demás personajes que han mostrado en esta historia, en especial "Syril Karn" interpretado por Kyle Soller quien parece ser el principal villano o uno importante en esta temporada; su manera de ver la justicia pisando a quien cree que es de menor nivel, queriendo ser diferente entre sus colegas, queriendo resaltar para dejar claro que es mejor, es algo fácil de odiar o no gustar y eso lo hace perfecto; tal vez (y espero que si sea) en esta temporada haga cosas sumamente malas para hacer cada vez más fuerte y así obtener más poder, no hay duda de que ese personaje tendrá mucha importancia en el desarrollo de esta serie. Con respecto a los demás es solo espero que también tengan un mejor desarrollo, que cada vez tengan más importancia y seguramente así será.

I like to see how Diego Luna has the opportunity to develop what "Cassian" is before Rogue One; that makes him the ruthless being, feeling no ties to anyone, but with the need to do something useful for the cause he believes in, to be a rebel, to want to take the fight to a place where no one is willing to take it and to do a kind of justice without the need to be considered a hero, much less to receive medals for his missions; that's what attracts me to see in this character besides being a different way to represent Latinos in Star Wars, that's special and is something you can't help but admire and maybe that's the real reason to watch this series. Luna does a good job in these first three episodes, I think it's good that she doesn't represent the force, but the cunning, determination and of course how lethal she can be; I think that's a clear difference with characters like Solo and Luke himself and surely she will be more related to Din Djarin, but I think that by showing her face in the different things she will have to do, that will surely be what differentiates the Mandalorian and Cassian. I like the other characters they have shown in this story, especially "Syril Karn" played by Kyle Soller who seems to be the main villain or an important one in this season; his way of seeing justice stepping on who he thinks is lower level, wanting to be different among his colleagues, wanting to stand out to make it clear that he is better, is something easy to hate or dislike and that makes him perfect; maybe (and I hope it will be) in this season he will do extremely bad things to make himself stronger and stronger to get more power, there is no doubt that this character will have a lot of importance in the development of this series. With respect to the others, I only hope that they also have a better development, that they have more and more importance and surely it will be so.

Siendo sincero, está era una de las series que he querido ver en el año, tengo muchas expectativas y me alegra que en estos tres primeros episodios me haya encontrado con algo bueno y que tiene el potencial de ser mejor; a primer momento dije que pudiera ser algo diferente a lo visto en otras series basadas en Star Wars, pero si encuentro similitudes con The Mandalorian, esperaré a ver otros episodios más en dónde se haga presente más escenas de acción y espionaje y seguramente habrá misiones en dónde se haga un debate si este personaje hace el bien o es parte del llamado "mal necesario"; me gusta que se explore otras historias, en especial la de Andor que pareciera ser un soldado perfecto que no hace pregunta y que solo asienta al momento de recibir una misión sin importar las consecuencias y justamente eso es lo que hace hasta el final en Rogue One, pero creo y espero que en esa serie en las dos únicas temporadas que tendrá, demuestre porque este personaje es tal como es, que demuestre porque siente esa paz al final y que lo lleva a una constante lucha hasta convertirse junto a Jyn Erso y sus demás compañeros en el primer paso para ser victoriosos contra todo un imperio. Recomiendo esta serie, a pesar de que solo se ha estrenado tres episodios, los cuales son entretenidos, con un excelente soundtrack, buena actuación, buena historia y es que tiene todo fácil para ser una sucesora por momentos de The Mandalorian, ya que ni Boba Fett, ni Obi-Wan pudieron llevar el vacío que deja la serie protagonizada por Pascal ; vean Andor.

To be honest, this was one of the series I wanted to see this year, I have high expectations and I'm glad that in these first three episodes I have found something good and that has the potential to be better; at first I said it could be something different from what we have seen in other series based on Star Wars, but if I find similarities with The Mandalorian, I will wait to see other episodes where more action and espionage scenes are present and surely there will be missions where there will be a debate if this character does good or is part of the so-called "necessary evil"; I like that other stories are explored, especially that of Andor who seems to be a perfect soldier who does not ask questions and only nods at the time of receiving a mission regardless of the consequences and that is exactly what he does until the end in Rogue One, but I think and I hope that in this series in the only two seasons that will have, show why this character is as it is, to show why he feels that peace at the end and that leads to a constant struggle to become with Jyn Erso and his other companions in the first step to be victorious against an entire empire. I recommend this series, although it has only been released three episodes, which are entertaining, with an excellent soundtrack, good acting, good story and has everything easy to be a successor at times of The Mandalorian, since neither Boba Fett, nor Obi-Wan could carry the vacuum left by the series starring Pascal ; see Andor.
