Hive Creative Contest - My Favorite Movie / “Manchester by the Sea”

Once again participating in this contest proposed by our hiver @zord189, inviting us to review the movie of our preference. I am lover of the seventh art, and one of the cinomatographic productions that touched my emotions very closely is Manchester by the Sea, starring: Casey Affleck, Michelle Williams, Kyle chandler and Lucas Hedges.

“Manchester by the Sea”

Manchester by the Sea is a 2016 American drama film directed and written by Kenneth Lonergan. The plot of the film centers on Lee Chandler (Casey Affleck) is a lone building maintenance manager in Boston who is forced to return to his small hometown after learning that his brother Joe passed away. There he must care for his 16-year-old nephew, whom he will have to care for. Suddenly, Lee will be forced to face his tragic past that led him to separate from his wife Randi (Michelle Williams) and the community in which he was born and raised.

Lee Chandler led a very happy life with his wife and daughters, but one tragic night there was an explosion in the house and his daughters died, only he and his wife survived.

Lee Chandler, feels responsible for the death of his daughters and in all his performance shows how unbearable it is to live with the weight of guilt.

It is true that losing all your children in an accident of which one is presumably to blame, must be terrible.
Our past actions can weigh heavily on us. There is no way we can travel to the past and undo the things we have already done.

But, if God is able to forgive us, because we have to stay submerged in guilt and remorse.

I think that her brother, when leaving him in the care of his nephew, had the intention of giving him a starting point to free himself from his guilt, move on and recover his mental health.

Watching the movie Lee Chandler made me think about the myth of Sisyphus (In Greek mythology Sisyphus was a king punished for being forced to roll a huge rock up a hill, only to see it roll down, and repeat this for all eternity) .

But in this case it was the same Lee Chandler, who condemned himself to live like this, for not forgiving himself.
