Zabij i wyjedź z tego miasta/ Kill it and leave this city Review

Today I will review Polish animation.

As for Polish films, I have always been reluctant to choose one, but today's animation was different than many Polish productions.

„Kill it and leave this city”is an interesting surreal journey by the creator of this animation. A journey through the years of the People's Republic of Poland shrouded in hopelessness and lack of understanding.

It is a journey through memories, but the people around him and oh problems as well as everyday life. The film is drawn with the old technique of pencils and sheets of paper with a slight dose of color.

The film features different characters from a woman who buys fish and feels unnecessary to anyone for an elderly couple on the train, and even a sad conversation between her mother and the creator. Each of these stories has a surreal and psychological aspect.

The creator tries to show us a city full of dirt and shit, full of sad people and lack of acceptance. We discover a lot in this animation when we see a detail that is in the next story. It is a showcase full of nostalgia and memories that the creator observes as a viewer, listener and assistant.

The animation is crooked, sometimes the characters look like caricatures of themselves, but this is a deliberate attempt to emphasize the surrealism of memories because sometimes our brain remembers a given event after several dozen years.

The music in this film is the 70/80 pieces of Polish rock that fuel the events that took place. The main axis of the plot is the departure of the father with his son to the sea and the mother's sadness because they have not yet spoken while being there.

In the meantime, we get other stories that highlight the epoch in which the characters live, but also the well-established parochialism that caused what he became. The creator observes people, sees their problems, their everyday life, their sadness and joy, their profanity and cry their love and dispersion.

By creating something that can be described as a postcard, the people around us, creating such a title says goodbye to his memories, killing them with a film and escaping from the closed city to the new reality.

The film was made as many as 14, which is even more deserving of applause for the author's persistence until the end of the work. There are many voices of Polish actors or actresses who are no longer alive in the film, so it is also a kind of nostalgic postcard hearing the actress again, even though she has been dead for over 10 years. I rate the film at 8/10 because it is a very intriguing animated film full of sadness and bitterness where everything goes on and so every day. I recommend it is worth watching

Dang! This does look amazing! I have not seen it, but will do soon.

I have read your The Cremator review the other day, wanted to leave a comment (I really like that film) but got distracted.

I recommend watching this animation, if you know a bit of Polish, you will understand, if not, there are probably English subtitles for this animation somewhere on the Internet. Overall, it is an interesting animation full of sad bitterness and attempts to escape all this rottenness and parochialism when it comes to culture, also to educating young people.
