La Bruja/The Witch (Reseña/Review)

En el siglo XVII en Nueva Inglaterra una familia es desterrada de la colonia por culpa del padre al tener discusiones religiosas con el resto, dejando a la familia de seis integrantes afuera de la civilización, haciendo su hogar cerca de un bosque, mientras están allí, la madre da a luz a su quinto hijo, Samuel, el cual al cuidado de su hermana mayor Thomasin es secuestrado por lo que los padres llaman un lobo gigante, pero los pequeños Mercy y Jonas saben que fue culpa de una bruja, porque su amigo cabra Phillip les susurro al odio eso.

In the seventeenth century in New England a family is exiled from the colony because of the father when having religious discussions with the rest, leaving the family of six outside civilization, making their home near a forest, while they are there, the mother gives birth to her fifth child, Samuel, who in the care of his older sister Thomasin is kidnapped by what the parents call a giant wolf, but little Mercy and Jonas know that it was the fault of a witch, because their friend goat Phillip whispered that.

Esta es una de las películas que hizo que la actriz Anna Taylor Joy estuviera en la mira de muchas personas, ya que pude verla puedo saber porque se gano ese target que tiene ahora y que lo ha expandido considerablemente con sus otras actuaciones. La película de La Bruja fue hecha con solo tres millones de euros, algo bastante bajo como presupuesto para una película, pero dado de que es una película de terror psicológico más que cualquier otra cosa, puede entenderse completamente el poco costo que tomo hacer esta película.

Toda la película se realiza en una choza cercana al bosque, tomas del bosque, muchos arboles, algunos dentro de la casa, en el granero, los mismos sitios, los protagonistas son la familia que se encuentra allí más una séptima protagonista que se esconde en el bosque y que poco sale. El miedo es hecho con suposiciones, especulaciones, deja que la imaginación y el miedo a lo desconocido se encargue de todo mientras que la película solo ocurre, no usando tantos efectos especiales y demasiada sangre.

Me gustó bastante una escena del hermano pequeño, donde es poseído y habla como si se estuviese refiriendo a Dios, en ese momento de locura e incertidumbre se aprecia por completo la magnifica actuación de ese niño, le debieron dar más foco a él que a Anna, quede encantado con esa escena. La madre de la familia interpretada por Kate Dickie (También conocida como la tía de los Stark en Game of Thrones) es un personaje que se lleva bastante atención de la película, al ser una madre triste, desesperada, algo que ya hemos visto con esta actriz en otros papeles.

La película fue aplaudida en el año que salió en el 2015, ya hace seis años de su estreno y sigue siendo una de mis películas favoritas de suspenso y terror, aunque puede tener muchos momentos demasiados largos haciendo que se sienta aburrida, lo demás esta bien hecho, es una película que dura menos de dos horas algo para ver en cualquier momento por ser corta.

This is one of the films that made the actress Anna Taylor Joy be in the sights of many people, since I was able to see it I can know why she earned that target that she has now and that she has expanded it considerably with the other performances of her. The Witch was made with just three million euros, which is pretty low as a budget for a movie, but since it is a psychological horror movie more than anything else, it can be completely understood how little cost it took to make this movie.

The whole film is made in a hut near the forest, shots of the forest, many trees, some inside the house, in the barn, the same places, the protagonists are the family that is there plus a seventh protagonist who hides in the forest and that little comes out. The fear is made with assumptions, speculation, let imagination and fear of the unknown take care of everything while the movie just happens, not using so many special effects and too much blood.

I quite liked a scene of the little brother, where he is possessed and speaks as if he were referring to God, in that moment of madness and uncertainty the magnificent performance of that child is fully appreciated, they should have given him more focus than Anna, I was delighted with that scene. The mother of the family played by Kate Dickie (also known as the Starks' aunt in Game of Thrones) is a character that gets a lot of attention from the film, being a sad, desperate mother, something that we have already seen with this actress in other roles.

The film was applauded in the year it came out in 2015, it's been six years since its premiere and it is still one of my favorite suspense and horror films, although it can have many too long moments making you feel bored, the rest is fine. In fact, it is a film that lasts less than two hours, something to see at any time because it is short.
