Making a history of the things I have had the opportunity to see in recent times came to my memory a documentary that when I saw it left me fascinated and not because I am a follower or fan of these things but because of the ability people have to believe in something without even seeking to question where that "something" comes from.

Wild Wild Country is not new, it is certainly a documentary that has 3 years since it was released on Netflix but according to my humble criteria it does not lose validity and I am sure that there will be some who have not yet seen it either because they did not know about it or because it simply does not catch their attention. And that's what I hope to change today and see if you are encouraged to watch it....

A little context: not if there is anyone around here who at some point has read the books of "Osho", however the author of those books is this character in question. The story is about this guru from India who back in the 80's sought, along with a group of followers, to settle in a small area of Oregon, USA. At first there didn't seem to be anything wrong beyond some local problems until things started to take off.

It is a series/documentary that is made up of 6 chapters where they show us with very good details and background where all this comes from and the reason for many things that we are going to see here. If I remember correctly I think it is in the first episode where they give us all the preamble of who this gentleman is, why he goes to the USA fleeing from his native country, the reason for his philosophy of free love accompanied by meditation, etc., etc.

The information in this documentary comes out through many interviews with some of his followers but mainly through Sheela. Since it is impossible to communicate with the leader, it is she who takes the leading role, seeking to lead and promote all the beliefs and that way of life, and for that they needed a place, as a base so to speak.

Rajneeshpuram!

That place was born and called "Rajneeshpuram", the thing is that with time conflicts with the authorities and with the locals near that place were going to start, very incredible and surprising things that several chapters will show in detail.

The good thing about this documentary is that it is not only about the point of view of this "sect" or group of people, but there is also room for those who opposed all this from the beginning and their opinions are also reflected in many of the episodes. Through photographs, videos and archival documents, we are shown that the place was not as rosy and beautiful as it was originally sold.

One of the things I liked the most about this documentary, besides the story itself which is amazing, is that as the chapters went by, they left you some kind of clues that the worst or the most important thing had not happened yet and was yet to come. That creates a feeling of wanting to see and know more about it, that positive point is crucial.

Another thing is that, at least for me, being a total stranger to this story, I was shocked by the things that were shown and happened there to the point of being very unusual and that makes us wonder how it was possible for all that to happen with such tranquility, it is really something that surpasses understanding.

Anyway, a people who fought against Rajneeshpuram, assassination attempts and even attacks with bacteria, all that and more has this very good documentary. I highly recommend it because it is addictive and for general culture. 9/10 because nothing is perfect. As always, I leave you the trailer:
