(ESP-ENG) Reseña de la Miniserie - Poco Ortodoxa // Miniserie Review - Unorthodox.
Hello friends, good vibes everyone.
I know, this miniseries is from last year and probably many people have already seen it but I am also sure that there are a large number of people who have not seen it and who are totally unaware of what this story phenomenon that came to Netflix was. They are those stories that give us to think and reflect a lot about how certain cultures and religions live in the world.
Touching these issues may be a bit delicate but here we are going to talk exclusively about the series in question. This type of content catches my attention because thanks to them we can be able to learn and understand how is the way and the way of life on this very diverse planet. So then let's talk about what this interesting story was.
- Resumen // Summary.
This is the story of Deborah Feldman or Esther Shapiro, a young woman from New York, who lives in an Orthodox Jewish community called "Satmar Hasidim" where she is forced by very specific and specific issues of religion and the way of life itself to completely isolate herself from the outside world as it is known to most people.
Esty's father is mentally ill so he cannot take care of her and her mother abandoned her when she was only a very young girl so she had to grow up with her uncles and grandparents who are very strict people in terms of religion. refers. There are many prohibitions that exist in this community, from the use of cell phones to the very use of English.
As time passes, Esther now 19 years old, the family manages to arrange a marriage and by that way marry with Yanki Shapiro. But it is only after a few months where she realizes that this is not the life she wants and dreamed of and decides to flee and leave her husband, in addition to being tired and burdened by so many controls and rules.
At this point she flees to Berlin, where his mother lives without knowing exactly what he is going to find so far from what had been his home until that moment. Another important fact is that she meets a group of music students who teach them a little more what it is to simply live, something that motivates her a lot. However, her husband does not remain calm and decides to go after her with her cousin and thus try to get her back.
- Opinión.
For me this mini story is a marvel from any point of view. Many people called it a feminist, I don't see it that way, for me it is a very marked story of personal improvement where the most important thing is that we are able to open our minds to understand these worlds so different from ours. I think that in addition to the need to emerge and move forward on the part of our protagonist, there is also a very large cultural factor that many people may find it difficult to assimilate but that all we have to do is respect these customs and now, there is no another way.
It is also true that in some passages of the story we see it as a kind of thriller where a small tension is created due to the persecution that exists against Esty, which makes the series take on another meaning and a little more character. Anyway, a fairly solid and well-crafted story with top-notch performances, it won an Emmy award for something. I highly recommend it, it is very short, there are only 4 chapters but enough for such a great life lesson.
Imagine how many stories like this there will not be around the world within as many cultures or communities? - I think infinite. Maybe we have one very close to our lives and we don't even suspect that it is. I leave the trailer for those who have not seen it to see if they cheer up.
¡Un abrazo a todos, nos vemos en la próxima!
