Review Me Before You: The Romantic Will & Louisa's Love Story . [ENG - ESP]

Some years ago while I was going through difficult times in my life, I didn't take refuge in alcohol or drugs but I looked for an enjoyable way to pass the time without self-destructing. That's how Me Before You by British writer Jojo Moyes came into my life, a book that a very dear friend gave me as a gift and on a cold January afternoon I started reading without knowing that it would become years later another film adaptation that brings me here today.
When you read a book or you are told a story you imagine the face of the characters, their skin, their features, their gestures and even how they speak so when I was told that a movie studio was adapting the story of this book for the cinema, I already knew how the characters should look and how that drama was going to end.

Hace algunos años mientras atravesaba por momentos difíciles en mi vida, no me refugié ni en el alcohol ni en las drogas sino que busqué una manera amena de pasar el tiempo sin autodestruirme. Así fue como Me Before You de la escritora británica Jojo Moyes llegó a mi vida, un libro que me regaló una amiga muy querida y en una fría tarde de Enero comencé a leer sin saber que se convertiría años después en otra adaptación cinematográfica que hoy me trae aquí.
Cuando lees un libro o te cuentan una historia te imaginas el rostro de los personajes, su piel, sus rasgos, sus gestos y hasta como hablan así que cuando me dijeron que un estudio de cine estaba adaptando la historia de este libro para el cine, ya sabía cómo deberían verse los personajes y como iba a terminar aquel dramón.
Me Before You is a movie released in 2016 by the film studio Warnes Bros. Under the production of Thea Sharrock and the scripts of the author Jojo Moyes has a duration of 110 minutes and stars Emilia Clarke and Sam Caflin among others.
I've already mentioned the technical specifications, now I'm going to tell you what Me before You is about. Louisa Clark (Emilia Clark) is a girl who could not study because of how expensive education is in England, so she still lives with her parents Bernard Clark (Brendan Coyle), Josephine Clark (Samantha Spiro) and her younger sister Treena Clark (Jenna Coleman) who had a son at an early age and is the favorite daughter. Louisa will have to start applying for a new job after losing her position at the town diner in order to help her family again. This is how she arrives at the home of Camilla Traynor (Janet McTeer) who, along with her husband Charles Dance (Charles Dance), contacts her to take care of their eldest son Will Traynor (Sam Caflin), a man in his thirties who, due to a traffic accident, becomes a quadriplegic and must live the rest of his life in a wheelchair.
Yo Antes de Ti es una película estrenada en 2016 por el estudio de cine Warnes Bros. Bajo la producción de Thea Sharrock y los guiones de la propia autora Jojo Moyes cuenta con una duración de 110 minutos y está protagonizada por Emilia Clarke y Sam Caflin entre otros.
Ya les mencione la ficha técnica ahora les voy a contar de qué trata Yo Antes de ti.Louisa Clark (Emilia Clark) es una chica que no pudo estudiar por lo costosa que es la educación en Inglaterra, por lo que todavía vive junto a sus padres Bernard Clark (Brendan Coyle) , Josephine Clark (Samantha Spiro)y su hermana menor Treena Clark (Jenna Coleman) que tuvo un hijo a temprana edad y es la hija favorita. Louisa tendrá que comenzar a aplicar para encontrar un nuevo trabajo después de perder su puesto en la cafetería del pueblo para poder otra vez ayudar económicamente a su familia. Es así como llega a la casa de Camilla Traynor (Janet McTeer) que junto a su esposo Charles Dance (Charles Dance) la contactan para que cuide junto al fisioterapeuta Nathan (Steve Peacocke) a su hijo mayor Will Traynor (Sam Caflin) un hombre en sus treinta que debido un accidente de tránsito queda tetrapléjico por lo que deberá vivir el resto de su vida en una silla de ruedas.
Will's character is the one that gives me the most problems, from the beginning he makes life a checkered life for poor Lou. Maybe because this was a very active young man both physically and mentally and he is not happy with his new life confined to a wheelchair. Will lost everything his life, his wife, his friends and even his desire to be alive but as the story progresses the characters evolve into a truly endearing bond.
This bond becomes so strong that Louisa's boyfriend Patrick (Matthew Lewis) begins to feel jealous of this relationship while Will's mother will see in Louisa the last chance to make him desist from his desire to practice euthanasia, after so many suicide attempts. This is precisely the hardest part of the film because Will is so determined to die that not even the discovery of true love will make him change his mind
El personaje de Will es el que más problemas me da, desde el principio le hace la vida a cuadros a la pobre Lou. Quizás porque este era un hombre joven muy activo tanto física como mentalmente y no se siente feliz con su nueva vida confinado en una silla de ruedas. Will lo perdió todo su vida, su mujer, sus amigos y hasta sus deseos de estar vivo pero a medida que la historia va avanzando los personajes van evolucionando hasta formar un vínculo realmente entrañable.
Se hace tan fuerte este vínculo que el novio de Louisa Patrick (Matthew Lewis) comienza a sentir celos de esta relación mientras que la mama de Will verá en Louisa la última oportunidad para hacerlo desistir de su deseo de practicarse la eutonasia, después de tantos intentos de suicidio. Precisamente esa es la parte más dura de la película porque Will esta tan decidido a morir, que ni siquiera el descubrimiento del verdadero amor lo hará cambiar de parecer.
Me Before You takes place in the midst of spectacular scenery and its photography is simply impeccable. Another aspect I don't want to leave unmentioned is its fidelity to the book and the story is an exact copy of the novel, managing to maintain the romance from beginning to end. The only thing I didn't like is that the time to explain Will's reasons for wanting to kill himself and the complexity of the relationship of the protagonists, the hours of talk and so many moments that you can only know if you read the book.
Another thing I noticed is that in the book one could feel Will's pain and discomfort and that is lost a bit, in the movie everything is very fast. This is where the controversy begins because the movie seems to convey the message that people with physical disabilities cannot live happily again, this does not happen in the book, the author explains every detail in the novel.
Yo antes de ti se desarrolla en medio de escenarios espectaculares y su fotografía es sencillamente impecable. Otro aspecto que no quiero dejar de mencionar es su fidelidad al libro y es que la historia es copia exacta de la novela logrando mantener el romance de principio a fin. Lo único que no me gusto es que se hizo corto el tiempo para explicar el porqué de las razones de Will para querer matarse y la complejidad de la relación de los protagonistas, las horas de charla y tantos momentos que solo puedes saber si lees el libro.
Otro cosa que noté es que en el libro uno podía sentir el dolor y la incomodad de Will y eso se pierde un poco, en la película todo es muy rápido. Aquí es donde comienza la polémica porque la película pareciera transmitir el mensaje de que las personas con alguna discapacidad física no pueden vivir felices de nuevo, esto en el libro no sucede, la autora explica cada detalle en la novela.
The same thing happens to me with the lack of depth given to the character of Louisa a bright girl with many colors but in the book she has a more dramatic background with an event in her childhood that I assumed was sexual abuse in her childhood. I understand that you can't fit everything into 110 minutes, but there were things that were not so important and were included. The characters in this film are portrayed almost as filler and this doesn't happen in the book where everyone has their space.
But well it's not all bad the character of Louisa manages to grab you so much that you can't imagine another actress playing her. Emilia Clarke knew how to approach this character and I really loved her, the same happened to me with the character of Will and his interpretation of Sam Caflin who is impeccable.
Lo mismo me sucede con la poca profundidad que se le dio al personaje de Louisa una chica brillante con muchos colores pero que en el libro tiene un trasfondo más dramático con un evento de su infancia que yo asumí fue un abuso sexual en su niñez. Yo entiendo que no puedes incluir todo en 110 minutos, pero hubo cosas que no eran tan importantes y fueron incluidas. Los personajes en este film son retratados casi como relleno y esto no sucede en el libro donde todos tienen su espacio.
Pero bueno no todo es malo el personaje de Louisa logra atraparte tanto que no te imaginas a otra actriz interpretándola. Emilia Clarke supó cómo abordar este personaje y la verdad la ame, lo mismo me sucedió con el personaje de Will y su interpretación de Sam Caflin que es impecable.
Many people do not know that there is a novel of the same name and perhaps mistakenly think it is just another movie but I recommend that you read the novel, I as a compulsive reader that I am, I prefer to read a book and stay with that feeling of living other lives. However, for me it is a classic of romantic cinema, which nowadays is so difficult to find romantic stories that are worthwhile.
Without a doubt you have to see the movie and draw your own conclusions I think I've seen it about 10 times and I do not get tired despite its shortcomings is always good to enjoy a nice time. My score for this movie is 7.5/10. How much would you give it?
Muchas personas no saben que hay una novela del mismo nombre y quizás piensen erradamente que es una película más del montón pero les recomiendo que lean la novela, yo como lector compulsivo que soy, prefiero leer un libro y quedarme con esa sensación de vivir otras vidas. Sin embargo para mí si es un clásico del cine romántico, que hoy en día se hace tan difícil de encontrar historias románticas que valgan la pena.
Sin duda alguna tienes que ver la película y sacar tus propias conclusiones yo creo que la he visto unas 10 veces y no me canso a pesar de sus deficiencias siempre es bueno disfrutar de un rato agradable. Mi puntuación para esta película es de 7.5/10 ustedes ¿Cuánto le darían?.

Hola... Vi esta película por recomendación de mi esposa quien la vio por 4 vez y de ña cual esta enamorada por su historia pero que no es tan exacta como el libro. Claro esto me dice ella quien es la que desayuna libros porla mañana.
Pero lo que pude ver yo y debo ser sincero es una historia donde los retos están en cada respiración y el dolor que muestran cada uno de los personajes principales es una locura a nivel espiritual, es de esas historias que te llegan al corazón y puedes entender lo importante de la vida y lo rápido que puede pasear frente a ti si no estas listo para recibirlo con los brazos abiertos.
Muy buena película, eso no lo puedo negar.
