After the movie "Space Traveler" was released, there was a lot of controversy in the comments about the actor's method of awakening the heroine. The plot of the film is relatively simple, and the visual effects are also very grand and exquisite, but it is said that the box office of this sci-fi masterpiece was greatly reduced because of the shameless behavior of the male protagonist. In fact, in terms of rational utilitarian morality, the male protagonist's behavior in the film destroying the dormant cabin of the female protagonist is indeed not that unbearable. Don't believe me, let me elaborate on this issue.

First of all, the hero's unexpected awakening can be regarded as a kind of misfortune. After all, the goal of everyone on the spacecraft is to reach a distant planet, and the awakening in advance may not be there. Since it is unfortunate to lift the dormancy early, it stands to reason that the person who has encountered this misfortune should not be able to expand this misfortune, which means that he should not drag others into this misfortune. However, for the unexpectedly awakened person, his misfortune is far more than not being able to reach the destination smoothly. He also faces a greater misfortune, that is, spending the rest of his life alone. But this misfortune is not as irreparable as the accidental awakening, because there are still many dormant people on the spaceship, and the awakened person has a complete opportunity to get rid of the misfortune of lifelong loneliness.

Now, there is a contradiction here. In order to get rid of the subsequent misfortune, the unlucky person needs to drag another unrelated person into a certain degree of misfortune. Of course, in accordance with the most noble ethical requirements, this person should kill himself to be benevolent, sacrifice himself for righteousness, bear all the misfortunes on his own, and never involve others. The male protagonist did do this deliberately, even when he had a nervous breakdown or was on the verge of suicide, he still struggled with him for a long time whether to wake up the female protagonist. But generally speaking, ethics and morality should not push a person on the path of suicide, so it is said that this person should be given a little chance to ask for help. The unfortunate person should have the right to seek help from those around him, as long as the act of seeking help will not cause serious direct harm to others.

However, under normal circumstances, people who receive a signal for help can choose to refuse to provide help. Although this is not noble, it is justified as long as there is a corresponding reason. Those who are sleeping cannot refuse. Once they are awakened, they can only choose to accompany the person who awakened unexpectedly. Of course the male protagonist who awakens unexpectedly knows this, but can this be a reason to deprive him of the right to ask for help?

In order to make it easier to understand, let's change to a similar scene. Someone has an accident on the highway and needs help. Of course he can ask for help from passing pedestrians, even if he knows that this may delay the pedestrians from reaching their destination. In this way, the person who wakes up alone on the spaceship should also have the right to ask for help, even if he knows that the person who helped him will definitely not be able to reach the original destination. Failure to arrive at the destination as planned should not be considered a major injury, at least in the general case, and the universal ethical standards must first take care of the general situation. The female protagonist once complained to the spaceship deck officer who later awakened accidentally, saying that the male protagonist was murdering her. To some extent, this may make sense, but rationally speaking, her life was not actually harmed. Contrary to her will, it can only be said to be compelling. Just as the deck chief said, the male lead was in a "drowning" state at the time, and he basically had no other feasible solution.

As long as it is confirmed that the unfortunate person has the right to seek help from others under any possible circumstances, it should be his freedom to whom he seeks help. Usually he will definitely choose the person he thinks can help him best. This seems to be nothing to say. As for how he judges this, he can only decide on his own. Of course, it is best for him to be able to make rational and objective judgments, but if he is really a racist or an appearance association, it seems there is nothing to blame. As long as he is not malicious and has a vindictive attitude of "None of you want to sleep anymore", he can wake up many people. The male lead in the movie is obviously far from such a scum.

In fact, in theory, people who are awakened should feel quite honored. After all, some unfortunate people have specifically chosen to ask you for help. At least it means that people think you are very kind and are willing to believe that you are a good person. In fact, the situation is complicated. If nothing else, just say that in the film, the male protagonist did not tell the truth first, and did not explain the situation truthfully. But this lie is not serious in terms of subjective malignancy or actual harm. Subjectively, the liar simply wants to avoid complaints and suspicions, which affects the realization of his purpose of seeking help. It is also said that the male protagonist wants to lie to the female protagonist to fall in love with him. There is insufficient evidence for this statement. Even if the two of them accidentally wake up together by accident, there is no reason to think that they must fall in love, right? If the female protagonist believes in fate, is it a kind of fate to be selected by the male protagonist? The actual harm of this lie is even more trivial. The liar did not seek any actual benefits through the lie. And after the truth became clear, the male protagonist also paid the price for his lie-almost killed by the angry female protagonist.

In summary, the actions of the male protagonist in the movie are not noble gentlemen, but they are not considered to have major moral problems. Later, there was a problem with the spacecraft. The male protagonist took the risk of repairing the ship and won the true love of the female protagonist. The female protagonist might have no choice but to be far from Stockholm syndrome. The main purpose of the male protagonist awakening the female protagonist is obviously to get rid of the dilemma of loneliness, because he does not know whether the female protagonist is a lily, if it is, and the male protagonist has the behavior of forcibly breaking straight, then it can be regarded as strong X , Even murder. Of course, even if the heroine is not Lily, it is the same when she sees the heroine want to vomit. In that case, it might be necessary for them to wake up more people. Considering that the spacecraft may not be able to support the long-term activities of too many people, perhaps they will have to organize a committee or something to prevent the number of people awakened in advance from overcrowding. Well, this situation is out of the scope of discussion.

In addition, it seems that many people feel that the male protagonist’s act of awakening the female protagonist is forcibly changing the female protagonist’s life trajectory, causing the female protagonist to fall into the male protagonist’s trap. The female protagonist in the trap has no more love objects to be in. There is only one male lead. However, if the spaceship flying halfway is regarded as a trap, the male protagonist actually fell innocently. His targeted help is indeed equivalent to pulling the female protagonist into the trap, but who can say that he is not in the trap? What about the right to call for help? Fortunately, the message at the end of the film shows that this is not a painful death trap.
