La pelicula se desarrolla con una cronología un tanto pasado-presente ya que en algunas escenas podemos ver varios flashbacks de Lyla Novacek (Keri Russell) y Louis Connelly (Jonathan Rhys-Meyers) quienes tuvieron un romance fugaz, en el cual fue concebido Evan Taylor (Freddie Highmore). El papá de Lyla, Thomas Novacek (William Sadler) no está de acuerdo con ese romance y hace todo lo posible por ponerle fin, hasta el punto en que el día de parto de Lyla, el firma haciendose pasar por ella para darlo por adopción y le asegura a Lyla que su hijo murió al nacer. Y no es hasta su lecho de muerte en el que le confiesa su terrible crimen. Luego de ello Lyla emprende la busqueda de su hijo.
The movie unfolds with a somewhat past-present chronology as in some scenes we can see several flashbacks of Lyla Novacek (Keri Russell) and Louis Connelly (Jonathan Rhys-Meyers) who had a fleeting romance, in which Evan Taylor (Freddie Highmore) was conceived. Lyla's father, Thomas Novacek (William Sadler) disagrees with the affair and does everything he can to put an end to it, to the point where on Lyla's due date, he signs up for adoption and assures Lyla that her son died at birth. And it is not until his deathbed that he confesses his terrible crime. Lyla then embarks on a search for her son.
Por otro lado Louis no continuó con su carrera musical, ahora es un hombre de negocios. Sin embargo un día Louis decide tocar nuevamente con sus antiguos amigos, y luego se le ve se le ve en una plaza con su guitarra y se le acerca a un niño que casualmente está en esa misma plaza tocando unas melodías en su guitarra. Le deja unas monedas y se sienta a conversar con él y preguntarle algunas cosas, entre esas hacen un pequeño dueto con las guitarras y luego Louis le sorprendido por su habilidad le pregunta cuanto tiempo tenía aprendiendo a tocar dicho instrumento. Para su sorpresa Evan le contesta que tan solo han sido 6 meses. Louis sorprendido por tal poco tiempo para el talento que acababa de apreciar le pregunta que donde aprendió a tocar de esa manera en ese corto tiempo. Evan le responde que asistió a un prestigioso conservatorio de artes llamado "Julliard" y además dará un concierto esa noche. Louis se muestra algo exceptico. Pero de igual manera continúa su conversación en la cual Evan le pone un ejemplo de lo que estaba ocurriendo en su vida. Louis le contesta sabiamente diciendole que nunca renuncie a su música ya que cada vez que algo malo sucede, es un lugar donde podemos escapar y dejarlo ir.
On the other hand Louis did not continue with his musical career, he is now a businessman. However one day Louis decides to play again with his old friends, and then he is seen in a square with his guitar and approaches a boy who happens to be in that same square playing some melodies on his guitar. He leaves him some coins and sits down to talk to him and ask him some questions, between them they do a little duet with the guitars and then Louis, surprised by his ability, asks him how long he had been learning to play the instrument. To his surprise Evan answers that it has only been 6 months. Louis, surprised by such a short time for the talent he had just appreciated, asks him where he learned to play in such a short time. Evan replies that he attended a prestigious arts conservatory called "Julliard" and will be giving a concert that night. Louis is a bit skeptical. But he continues their conversation in which Evan gives him an example of what was going on in his life. Louis wisely replies that Never quit to your music, no matter what happens because anytime something bad happens to you, it's the one place you can escape and just let it go.
La vida de Evan ha sido muy dura. Desde pequeño ha vivido en orfanato. Siempre quiso encontrar a sus padres y los seguía a través de la pista de la música. El podía escuchar la música en todos lados. Conoce a un joven Arthur y luego hacen buena amistad. Arthur lo lleva hasta donde es su refugio y allí conoce a Maxwell "Wizard" Wallace (Robin Williams), el dueño de dicho refugio donde alberga a distintos niños en la misma codicion de Evan y Arthur, a los cuales durante el día les ordena dar pequeñas presentaciones en distintos sitios de la ciudad a cambio de dinero. Wizard a pesar de crear un vinculo con Evan y darle el apodo de "August Rush" lo manipula a su conveniencia.
Evan's life has been very hard. He has lived in an orphanage since he was a child. He always wanted to find his parents and followed them through the music trail. He could hear music everywhere. He meets a young Arthur and then they become good friends. Arthur takes him to his shelter and there he meets Maxwell "Wizard" Wallace (Robin Williams), the owner of the shelter where he houses different children in the same code as Evan and Arthur, who during the day he orders them to give small performances in different places of the city in exchange for money. Wizard, despite creating a bond with Evan and giving him the nickname "August Rush", manipulates him at his convenience.
Evan consigue escapar de una operación policial contra Wizard y llega a una iglesia donde hace una nueva amiga. Con la ayuda del sacerdote consigue un lugar en el Conservatorio de Artes Julliard para hacer una audición. Tras quedar impresionada por su talento a su corta edad, le dan una oportunidad. Pero todo parece truncarse cuando Wizard lo encuentra y se hace pasar por su padre. Evan, aterrado, no niega tal falacia y se va con él. Ante todo lo sucedido, la desesperación de Evan crece hasta que un joven se le acerca en una de sus presentaciones en la plaza y tras darle unas propinas, se sienta a compartir ese momento con él, haciendo un dúo y aconsejándole sobre la situación en la que se encontraba. El inocente niño aún no sabe que se trata de su verdadero padre.
Arthur ayuda a Evan a escapar esta vez de las manos de Wizard y consigue llegar a su concierto previsto para esa noche. Llega antes de su turno, tras la actuación de una antigua alumna del conservatorio que también actuaría en ese concierto con su violonchelo, era Lyla Novacek, su mamá.
Cuando Lyla salía del parque, empezó a escuchar a la orquesta tocar y algo en ella la hizo volver al escenario. Louis iba en un coche con sus amigos de la banda después de un concierto y cuando estaba en una calle vio un cartel donde mostraban la presentación del parque, al ver que su querida Lyla estaría allí no lo dudó y se bajó del coche para ir corriendo a ese lugar.
Evan manages to escape a police operation against Wizard and arrives at a church where he makes a new friend and demonstrates his talent. With the help of the priest he gets a place at the Julliard Conservatory of the Arts to audition. After being impressed with her talent at her young age, she is given a chance. But all seems to be cut short when Wizard finds him and impersonates his father. Evan, terrified, does not deny such a fallacy and goes with him. In view of everything that has happened, Evan's despair grows until a young man approaches him in one of his presentations in the square and after giving him a few tips, he sits down to share that moment with him, making a duet and advising him about the situation he was in. The innocent boy still does not know that it is his real father.
Arthur helps Evan escape this time from Wizard's hands and manages to get to his concert scheduled for that night. He arrived before his turn, after the performance of a former student of the conservatory who would also be giving a performance at that concert with her cello, it was Lyla Novacek.
As Lyla was leaving the park, she started to hear the orchestra playing and something in her made her go back to the stage. Louis was in a car with his friends of the band after a concert and when he was in a street he saw a poster where they showed the presentation of the park, when he saw that his beloved Lyla would be there he didn't doubt it and got out of the car to go running to that place.
Louis una vez en el escenario desde la distancia pudo ver que Lyla también estaba ahí, se pone a su lado, le toma la mano y ambos disfrutaron de la magnífica presentación del gran August Rush. Al final Evan se da la vuelta y ve a sus padres al otro lado del escenario y nos deja un mensaje es narrado en el que dice "La música está en todas partes, todo lo que tienes que hacer es escucharla".
Louis once on the stage from a distance could see his beloved Lyla was also there, he stands next to her, takes her hand and both enjoyed the magnificent presentation of the great August Rush. At the end Evan turns around and sees his parents on the other side of the stage and leaves us a message is narrated in which he says "Music is everywhere, all you have to do is listen to it".
Es una de mis películas favoritas porque da diferentes mensajes sobre el significado de la música y al mismo tiempo sobre la lucha por conseguir tus sueños en la vida, anteponiendote a esas personas que de alguna manera u otra son obstáculos que te impiden alcanzarlos.
It's one of my favorites movies because it gives different messages about the meaning of music and at the same time about fighting to achieve your dreams in life, standing in front of those people who in some way or another are obstacles that prevent you from reaching them.
Wow hace años que vi está Película y la verdad volo mi cabeza, claro era un chamo pero la trama me atrapó muchísimo.
La música fue el factor de atracción.
Una de las películas más sencillas pero con un desarrollo genial, con personalidad y que no tuvo miedo a presentar algo diferente, con u gran mensaje.
Buenos recuerdos de trae esa película, yo quería ser como el chico tocando la guitarra, genial!
Ciertamente es así como lo describes man, una pelicula sencilla, pero deja un mensaje muy bueno y totalmente entendible sobre la vida a traves de la música. Gracias por pasarte!
