Fungi Friday - Mushrooms from Costa Rica Hygrocybe sp and Psilocybe sp

Hi community, a pleasure to be able to share again a part of beautiful specimens that I found walking among the oak forests of San Gerardo de Dota in Costa Rica.
The peak of the rains has not yet reached the country, so the first fungi are beginning to appear. I hope that from the month of July the number of species that can be found will be much more varied.

At the moment, I found these two which I think I can identify down to the genre. The first of them is a Hygrocybe sp. I'm not entirely sure, but I think it could be Hygrocybe psittacina

The second one leaves me more doubts, a Psilocybe and although the latter seems more common, I could not find it within my mushroom guides so I will leave it as Psilocybe sp.

Thank you. That mushroom looked appetizing, but I better not risk eating it. 😂Coral mushrooms are abundant at that point, there are at least three species.

Awesome what a nice waxy green mushroom. Green mushrooms are a bit rare, I only know of a few.

there are some green Russulas out there... but I agree with you: the green color is more rare option for fungi.

I have found a green russula only once in perfect condition, since then I have not seen them growing in the same spot. The only other green one I found was blue green elf cups that were more turquoise blue than green.

You are absolutely right, this was a lucky find, I discovered it under some leaves when I tried to photograph a Ramaria. In 15 years of visiting the area it is the first I have seen.

How beautiful! I too have a fascination with mushrooms and I don't know why. The green one looks radioactive haha

Hahaha it's true, they look like they're from another world. When I was a kid, I looked at mushrooms and felt like I was on another planet.

Well, there are still many doubts about their origin, they have characteristics of plants and some characteristics close to animals. And if they come from another planet to conquer the earth, they are doing a good job. 😅 👍

😜 😎

totally agree! most of them doing a great job, they help nature to maintain the metabolism cycle / the movement of nutrients, like: recycle deadwood, cellulose and other substances, returning them from the "dead state" again "to the general access" for other living organisms. etc.

Mushrooms are beautiful and fun to look for in the woods. I do not know exactly what is the reason for the green color, I looked in some books and internet links, but apparently, there is not much information about the chemistry of this species. There are even places that say it is edible and in others that it is not. I believe that the color is due to pigments that they absorb from plants to which they are related, in this case, hygrocybe generates mutualism with several species of moss. But I am speculating.
