In search of mushrooms - Sparassis crispa
Hello fungi lovers, a few days ago while I was walking through the forest in search of new photographs, I came across for the first time this fungus known by its scientific name as Sparassis crispa or bulgarly called cauliflower fungus.
This was the first shot I made of the fungus, try to capture it with a view from the ground and in profile, trying to make out its shape and size, in addition to showing the place where it was born and you can also see the moss that accompanies it.
In the photograph on the left you can see the fungus from an aerial view where you can see its size, shape and color, the shot on the right is a close-up that I made, we can notice the small holes in it, here you can see better the texture.
This is a view from another angle, where the complete mushroom is observed, the texture is very striking, soft and spongy, but despite being seen like this to the touch it is quite the opposite since it is very rigid and heavy, and can weigh up to 30 kilos.

Lucky find. These taste great in a basic broth soup.
The first time I meet them, the next time I will take your advice and make a soup.
Just remember the area, time of year and weather cobditions and it should be growing there again next year.
This one came out very close to my house. Next year I am pending hehe.
If it rains heavily again this year and if it is still fall where you are then more might come out.
So I'm sure I try it this year. Here in the north it rains a lot hehe.
Lucky find indeed. These not only taste great -- it is 10-15 kg of great food. Wish you luck with foraging it next time! This nice fella can be found in Russia, but far to the south and east, then where I live. Really feel envy!
:P
Happy Fungi Friday, sir!
I was surprised to find that fungus, I had never seen it before. Next time I'll eat it in a good soup, I'll tell you how it tastes.
Grazie mille! nice to share this knowledge in the community. a lot of folks consider any mushrooms to be toxic toadstools
:)
Fear of the unknown. A pleasure to share my experiences and learn from the experiences of other mushroom pickers.
