(I could not edit this post in time back in late September, so its old news now. But this have to be done to move further!)

not the news

Mushroom season is on its peak in the northern hemisphere, forests are full of shrooms. Its a pleasure for me to note that community still growing. For now it is 349 members, 80 active posters, 290+ weekly interactions. And community account has the total power of 1026 HP (thanks to @qwerrie, @ocd-witness and @portal-xenna for their delegation). As you know from previous posts, FL became part of @OCD community incubation program -- you may wanna check the link above for full details. In brief, it means @OCD encourages hiveans to post to dedicated communities by providing a nice upvotes for great posts.

Each post is getting 100% upvote from the group, and it is in your hands to make it better. You are welcome to delegate a little HP, if you feel you have some extra and want to benefit for community. Feel free to follow and upvote the account posts, all rewards proceed to account HP.

We just kindly ask: go for quality, not for quantity.
No need to spam over the place with low quality posts, that will get you no readers; its pointless and waste of your lifetime. Good stuff on the contrary is getting a juicy rewards from @OCD, I hope you appreciate it (OCD discord channel, in case you have questions to ask or urged to say TY).

@OCD-curated posts

rainforest fungi ʘ @carlosadolfochac from Venezuela brought in marvelous macro shots of fungi from Venezuela rain forest. Dont miss those great captures!

lob.jpg

Lobster fungi ʘ @sketch.and.jam told an intresting story. Lobster mushrooms are a combination of a brittlegill mushroom, usually white russula + parasitic fungi (the orange part), which warps the russula into odd shapes and makes them into a firmer texture.

cig.jpg

cigarette fungi ʘ @birdwatcher presented us an extremely bizarre mushroom find from Brazil rainforest. those symmetrical structures do not look like fungi at all, who would have thought there could be a fungi like this? looks like a used cigarettes for me 146%. a stunning bio divercity :P

digi.jpg

assorted fungi ʘ @digitalis presented perfect fungi shots from Philippines; no iDs, but cool macros.

reishi.jpg

reishi fungi ʘ another post of @sketch.and.jam presenting the well-known, wonderful fungi that have sufficient medicinal use. If you still not in the know of their properties -- do check, educate yourself, and dont pass them by!

redwax.jpg

red waxy caps ʘ another his post presented a picturesque and photo-friendly red riding hood red waxy cap' little fellas -- worth to have a look!

sui.jpg

ʘ @annephilbrick brought in two posts of a lovely looking Boletos - Suillus spraguei and Baorangia bicolor. I educated myself --- was not in the know o both of them!

lich.jpg

time for lichens ʘ and the last post in my review for today is from @lacking, Canadian photographer which happened to live at the very northern edge of the world. There is no special community for lichens (and perhaps we do not need one... since we already have #AmazingNature, ) -- and FL, naturally, seems to be the closest matching community for this subject. Have a look at his wonderful close-ups post full of bizarre looking lichens living their life at the slender northern land.

Of cource, October had a great mushroom posts (as its still the peak of the season!) but let me review them in the next curation-related reviews, too much fungi coolness at once may cause problems with your stomach mind well, I am not totally sure, but lets say it will be less cool, than taking carefully measured doses of visuals that are tested and recognized as safe.

and let me remind you, we have a nice fun challenge here, hold by @EwkaW

#FungiFriday!

I hope many of you will join, as there are only 2 simple rules:

  • when Friday comes, share your fungi with us! post your own, original photo/drawing/art/food/anything-at-all of any type of fungi (yes, stolen images will be checked and reported !)
  • add #fungifriday (not necessarily must be your 1st tag). that's all!

It's nice to hear that the mushroom picking community is growing. Today I will try to delegate some HP.
Unfortunately, the mushroom season is ending, but I think that everyone has mushroom archives for the winter and we will still see many interesting photos from the kingdom of mushrooms.
