Fungi Lovers digest -- March 2021

fl-2021-11.jpg

I am happy to note the fact that the mushroom season-2021 is open! Comrade @einfachnathi found delicious, well-hidden morels, @sketch.and.jam encountered a ton of _Gyromitra brunnea_ aka false morel, @arhat opened the season with a field blewit / blue-leg mushroom - right in the city, before going out into the nature! and in Indonesia you never run out of mushrooms, as well...

I want especially to greet our subscriber @taliakerch with her first post to the community: the mission to find local mushrooms finally completed! And the mushrooms she found were the great mushrooms, morels, not some nasty stuff. She was not in the know of iDs, edibility and foraging qualities of mushrooms were under a question -- but after sharing her post with us, thats no more a question!

Do educate yourself from other Fungi Lovers posts, share your stuff, learn to determine iDs -- and you will learn how to live off of all the nature has for us, and you will benefit greatly!

not a big news

Up to date we are 726 subscribers (ofc some of them are fake or alternates, lets face the truth), 70 active posters, and had 320 interactions last week. Community account reached the total power of 4566 HP (thanks to @solominer, @qwerrie, @bambuka, @keuudeip and @ocd-witness for renewed delegation). As you know from previous posts, FL is a part of @OCD community incubation program. In brief, it means @OCD encourages hiveans to post to dedicated communities by supporting back the great posts.

We just kindly ask: go for quality, instead of quantity. No need to spam over the place with low quality posts, that will get you no readers; its pointless and waste of your lifetime.

@OCD- curated posts

@sketch.and.jam shared photos of edible Meadow mushrooms - Reddening Lepiota - and gave tips how to identify them.

@ridor5301 shared a beautiful-looking orange tree mushroom from Aceh forest. Fascinating shapes!

One more post from @ridor5301 -- capturing bracketing tree fungi of some sorts may become a challenging task, I mean, if you want to end up with an eye-catching images. This is a good example, the job is well done!

🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄

Same stuff from @akukamaruzzaman, also coming from Aceh forest, which sounds like a good example of a mushroom macro photography, what you can came up with, even in poor lighting conditions.

🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄

In another great post from @akukamaruzzaman you can educate yourself about the mushroom with a strange but attractive name 'King Alfreds Cake' - isnt it sweet?

🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄

Mushrooms are everywhere, you know. Even in winter. They can grow even under -5C! @cezary-io encountered some nice looking cup fungi (a real keen eye!) more important, he was able to make awesome captures and shared with us, instead of hoarding for himself. A proof-pic: they are real wintertime-survivors. This is snow, not salt!

Do you know the 1st rule of the fungi lover: "All Mushrooms Are Edible, Some Only Once!" Ok, good for you! @joanstewart brought us some finds from the South Africa, er... I doubt I can name it 'forest'?.. Anyway, great captures. And as she didnt stop posting at Hive, I happily conclude -- probably she did no attempts to check how do they taste!

🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄

7.jpg

@tych021 shared images of tree fungi and snake he encountered on his walk. iDs included - well done!

🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄

8.jpg

@nicanor-mosquera in his non-stop search of mushrooms found Inocybe rimosa, toxic mushroom. ANd benefitted from it sharing a good post with us.

🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄

@qwerrie brought in cool-looking macros of his summer trophis; most of them has no iDs attached, tho.

🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄

And thats all. I hope you enjoyed today's digest. Hope the next one will already display the April posts. And a little reminder: we have a nice fun challenge at HIVE, hold by @EwkaW: #FungiFriday. I hope many of you will join, as there are only 2 simple rules:

  • when Friday comes, share your fungi with us! post your own, original photo/drawing/art/food/anything-at-all of any type of fungi (yes, stolen images will be checked and reported !)
  • add #fungifriday (not necessarily must be your 1st tag). that's all!
