FungiFriday - The Neighbours

avatar

Across the street near our estate is a big lawn that belongs to the city hall. Just one of those paces that they didn't fill up with buildings or car parks. Quite a nice peace of wild nature. It is usually mowed few times a year to keep it a bit tidy, but now, during the quarantine it was growing freely and happy. Flowers, grasses, small bushes... all together. Some larger bushes that are allowed to grow there are filled with birds and bugs.

And in winter, when it is cooler and wetter there are mushrooms! I could never find the tiny ones - the grass is too thick and tall, but I could spot those big, shiny hats from a distance. Those were shot in December.

And just few steps away there were some big brown ones too. Not sure if it is a different type, or the same, but older and already drying up. Though the texture on the hats seem different.

A sharp reader will notice that used a zoom Tamron lens here instead of my trusty macro Sigma. I was out to catch some birds, but found mushrooms. That lens is so versatile and keeps me amazed with the bokeh too.

Bonus shot:
A very blurry artistic take on the grasses :)
Happy #Fungifriday!

My contribution to #FungiFriday by @ewkaw

I hope many of you will join as there are only 2 simple rules:

  • when Friday comes post your own, original photo/drawing/art/food/anything-at-all of any type of fungi (yes, I will check and report stolen images!)
  • add #FungiFriday tag (it doesn't have to be your first tag)
    That's all :)

That's December? Buttercups in December?

Where I am foraging is mostly a seasonal sport. I did find the oysters and enoki a couple of times, but winter finds are rare.
Great shots though. Love the artistic one:D

I dunno what type it was, but yea, I shot those in December. We have mild and rainy winters, so there is plenty of mushrooms growing around.

Haha thanks :D

Lovely white deathcaps, just kidding :-). I wonder what they are... so many different white lawn shrooms out there.

You could say they are deathcaps and I would believe you anyway :D

I typically stay away from harvesting white mushrooms that even resemble the deathcaps. Though there are plenty of edible ones that look similar.
