Antecedentes

Background

Well, Victoria here has given me the opportunity to take my pictures of my belly and my baby girl, 12 years ago now. I almost cried with emotion as I remembered those moments...

My husband and I wanted to be parents, it was a conscious decision made from the heart, we even went to the specialists, with the idea of making sure we were fit. For more than 6 months the tests were all negative, the doctor insisted that everything was perfect, that it was just a matter of time and it seemed like an eternity to me. At our insistence, he told us that we could start hormone treatment to increase our chances of getting pregnant, although his first recommendation was simply to wait. We started the treatment, my body responded so well that when the doctor examined me he said there was a good chance of a multiple pregnancy, that if he wanted we could wait for another opportunity because pregnancies of this type are very high risk. We wanted to try and nothing happened. After almost a year of negative tests, we decided to give it a rest, I didn't want to think about trying anymore, we had even bought the next dose of the treatment and we didn't use it.

The miracle had begun

I was on vacation and my husband was working. In the mornings when he went to the office I would go for a walk, we lived in Lecheria, in front of the beach; so I enjoyed that spectacular tour every day, while listening to a program that I loved. I felt calm, God willing, I thought. I also remember that during the celebration of the feast of the Virgin of the Valley, I asked the little Virgin to give us the gift of being parents. One year later, I had my daughter in my arms. It happened that that same month of "rest" I became pregnant and I found out more than two months later, they had been hectic days, we were in the middle of buying our apartment and we had even traveled to Merida to a friend's wedding, not knowing that I was going to be a mother.

The news

My vacation was over, I was back at the office, feeling mostly tired and sleepy, but I thought it was the change in routine. Until finally we were attacked by suspicion and we decided to take the home test, which was a big positive... Finally! We didn't say anything until I took the blood test, it was too important to make a mistake. Then we did shout out to our family and friends that we were already in the sweet spot. No waiting three months to say it, we couldn't hide it, maybe it was already in week 9.

The sweet wait

It was actually sweet, I enjoyed it to the fullest, the discomforts were few and far between, and I worked until it was my turn to go on pre-natal rest. My husband talked to his baby in his belly every day, wishing it was a boy, but by the 12th week we found out it was a girl. He was still happy. We had agreed that I would name it if it was a girl and he would name it if it was a boy, so it was my turn, but she was 7 months old and I couldn't find a name for her. To sum up the story, my husband was the one who chose for her: "Ambar Carolina."

Y llegó el momento / And the time has come

I was already psychologically prepared for the birth of my baby, at first I had thought that I preferred to have it by a scheduled C-section, however, the doctor who monitored my pregnancy had managed to convince me that the birth was the right thing to do, so I took my preparation course and everything. I had already learned the signs of the onset of labor, I just had to wait. The day before, my sister had come to visit me and, knowing that it was not far away, she took some pictures of us.

Un día antes/One day earlier

That night, after 11 o'clock, my water broke. The obstetrician had told me in consultation, that since labour lasted for hours, that if it started in the early morning I should call her at sunrise, that it was not necessary to go out at that time. I, very obedient, that's what I did, I called her at 6:00 AM, as soon as the sun came up. When I told her that my water broke at 11, she told me why did you take so long to call and initially sent me to the clinic, for emergency. Then she called me and told me I better go to the office, that she wanted to see the state of the baby, and thank God that was the case, because my baby had moved and I could no longer be born through childbirth, it was necessary to perform an emergency cesarean section.

Thanks to God, everything went well, our daughter was born healthy and became our engine of life, our joy, our greatest blessing; until three years later, she was blessed with a captivating little brother, and we, with another sun. We will never tire of thanking God for those lights that illuminate our universe to the infinite and beyond.

Saludos
