Hello to all my dear readers and parents of the community, I want to share with you a very special experience that I lived with my 3 year old daughter, recently, she asked me what Easter is, because on Monday she asked me if I had classes and I told her we are in Holy Week and she said Mommy, what is Holy Week, and I decided to dedicate some time to explain this significant religious event to her.

Explicar la Semana Santa a niños tan pequeños puede ser todo un desafío de verdad que me hizo como 5 preguntas en un segundo, pero también una oportunidad maravillosa para enseñarles sobre tradiciones y valores importantes. Aquí les comparto cómo lo hice:

Primero, simplifiqué el lenguaje, utilicé palabras simples y evité términos complicados para asegurarme de que mi hija pudiera entender fácilmente, luego, recurrí a recursos visuales, utilicé imágenes y dibujos para ayudarla a visualizar la historia y los símbolos de la Semana Santa, fue emocionante ver cómo se involucraba mientras le mostraba las imágenes.

Después, le conté la historia de manera sencilla y cronológica, desde la entrada triunfal de Jesús en Jerusalén hasta su resurrección, utilicé ejemplos y comparaciones que ella pudiera relacionar con su vida cotidiana, como si fuera un cuento y también le coloque un video de YouTube para ayudarme, también hablé sobre los símbolos de la Semana Santa, como la cruz, las palmas, los huevos de Pascua y el conejo de Pascua, explicándole su significado y cómo están relacionados con la historia que estaba contando.

Explaining Easter to such young children can be quite a challenge really, it asked me about 5 questions in a second, but also a wonderful opportunity to teach them about important traditions and values. Here's how I did it:

First, I simplified the language, I used simple words and avoided complicated terms to make sure my daughter could easily understand, then, I turned to visual resources, I used pictures and drawings to help her visualize the history and symbols of Easter, it was exciting to see how engaged she was as I showed her the pictures.

Then, I told her the story in a simple and chronological way, from Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem to his resurrection, I used examples and comparisons that she could relate to her daily life, as if it were a story and I also played a YouTube video to help me, I also talked about the symbols of Holy Week, such as the cross, the palms, the Easter eggs and the Easter bunny, explaining their meaning and how they are related to the story I was telling.

When my little girl asked questions, I made sure to answer them in an honest and understandable way for her age, the most important thing was to encourage her curiosity and understanding, so I did not worry if she did not have all the answers, finally, I talked to her about the deep meaning of the celebration: remembering the love and sacrifice of Jesus, and the hope that represents his resurrection, it was a touching moment to see how my daughter was beginning to understand the importance of this celebration for many people.
