Azul

Blue
Blue that emanates from the blue sky,
and blue of this great sea that consoles me,
while I see in him the vain illusion
of the vision of the wing of a candle.
Blue of the April landscapes,
sad blue of lyrical dreams,
that do not calm the intimate boredom.

Porqué el autismo es azul?
Hoy al igual que ayer, fue un día "azul" para mi y para todas aquellas familias que nos corresponde tener en nuestros hogares la gran responsabilidad y la hermosa bendición de tener bajo nuestro cuidado a alguien con autismo.
Comienzo con un poema que siempre me ha gustado y que ha venido a ser uno de mis favoritos al correr de los días por su real y profundo significado.

Ahora, ¿Por qué azul y no otro color?
El azul representa lo profundo que viven a diario las personas con este trastorno y sus familiares. "Este color tiene la peculiaridad de brillar tanto como el mar en un día de verano y “otras veces se oscurece como un mar en tempestad”
Salmerón nos relata en su poesía el gran significado que tiene ese color, por una parte representa a Conchita, su gran amor y el hermoso azul de sus ojos comparados con el azul del mar de Manicuare. Por otro lado refleja su angustia con el solo hecho de pensar que por la enfermedad que padecía, no los volvería a ver.

Para quienes vivimos el autismo diario, conocemos la angustia de pensar en que un día no podremos estar más para ellos, nos tortura el pensar que no puedan valerse por sí mismo y no puedan llegar a ser independientes. Al mismo tiempo nos embarga una emoción muy grande cuando rien, hablan para decir "Cualquier palabra", cuando nos toman por las mejillas para que les veamos a los ojos, cuando buscan la manenera de hacerse entender.
Es definitivamente una montaña rusa de emociones una tras otra, y a veces, todas al mismo tiempo.
Es azul es el color que en definitiva, por su amplitud, profundidad representada en el mar dibuja claramente nuestras vidas.

Why is autism blue?
Today, like yesterday, was a "blue" day for me and for all those families that we have in our homes the great responsibility and the beautiful blessing of having someone with autism under our care.
I begin with a poem that I have always liked and that has become one of my favorites as the days go by because of its real and deep meaning.
Now why blue and not another color?
Blue represents how deeply people with this disorder and their family members live each day. "This color has the peculiarity of shining as bright as the sea on a summer day and" at other times it darkens like a stormy sea "
Salmerón tells us in his poetry the great meaning that color has, on the one hand it represents Conchita, her great love and the beautiful blue of her eyes compared to the blue of the Manicuare sea. On the other hand, he reflects his anguish with the mere fact of thinking that due to the illness he suffered, he would never see them again.
For those of us who live with autism every day, we know the anguish of thinking that one day we will not be able to be for them anymore, it tortures us to think that they cannot fend for themselves and cannot become independent. At the same time, we are overwhelmed by a great emotion when they laugh, they speak to say "Any word", when they take us by the cheeks so that we can see them in the eyes, when they look for a way to make themselves understood.
It's definitely a roller coaster of emotions one after another, and sometimes all at the same time.
It is blue is the color that ultimately, due to its breadth, depth represented in the sea clearly outlines our lives.
